Meet our newest foster cat!♥️ She's a young, dainty, spunky girl who thrives around humans and almost never holds still. Here's her story:👇

This ~1-2yo girl hung around my house for a couple days but wouldn't eat. I assumed she was feral like my other porch friends, until she started crying, asking for pets, and tried to walk through my front door.🥺 She also seemed scared by the traffic sounds, unlike the other community cats. This is the main reason I brought her inside. Sadly, I haven't been able to find an owner and she doesn't have a microchip.

She was covered in fleas, missing patches of fur on her back legs, and was so dehydrated that she didn't use her box for almost 48 hours. She's doing much better now!

If you've read this far, it's worth noting that most cats found outdoors *don't want to live inside.* They're usually candidates for trap-neuter-return. But if a very friendly cat finds you and clearly isn't thriving outside, it's worth investigating and taking action. 🐾🐾Hint: Be prepared to put in the work! Try to find the owner and offer foster the cat yourself through a rescue instead of pawning them off onto others.🫶

From the moment you curled up in my lap outside the coffee shop, I suspected you were sent by Finch.🪽 We always said he would get to choose our next fur baby, and now he has.🐾 But you are so much more than the fourth fur baby. You're a confident, resourceful, tenderhearted teenaged kitten who I know will blossom into an amazing adult. 🩶Meet Stuart: My newest Kitten Koop foster who appeared when I least expected. He looks much better now, but he was thin, dirty, and covered in fleas.
Near the end of my break from fostering, my soul cat passed away. The way Stuart came into our lives seems fated, so he will either become a part of my family or begin his search for a forever home once fully vetted. I'll keep you all updated!

🦇Bat, one of my porch friends, has been TNR'd. She's one of five cats that have visited my porch since I TNR'd Bug. They typically only show up once or twice, and almost never when food is out, and I started to feel like I'd never get to trap-train anyone else! It feels good to have finally trapped one of Bug's friends. And I'm sure there are more...

Ps. The vet said Bat was in heat and could be less than a year old, so I think she was spayed just in time!

❤️‍🩹 "One Eye" is an older community cat with glaucoma/trauma and an old broken jaw who had 3 litters this year, totaling in 10 surviving kittens. If I hadn't trapped her, she would've given birth to 6 more. No cat, and especially not a cat in her condition, should ever have to go through that if a vet can help you prevent it.

One Eye is an example of just how fast a cat colony can grow. In only one year, she carried more than 16 kittens in her little body. Spaying her earlier would've been best, but sometimes these kitties are hard to catch. I'm so glad her caregiver asked for help!

Now One Eye has been through the TNR program.💕 She's been spayed, ear-tipped, vaccinated, dewormed, tested, and flea treated. I just returned her to her caretaker, who has a sweet relationship with this spicy kitty. She's set up a small indoor enclosure for One Eye so she can have extra time to recover.❤️‍🩹

I wish you all the love and light, missy. You will never, ever, ever, have to have kittens again. And bless her caretaker's heart — it's not every day I meet someone who wants my help and also wants to be a part of the solution.🫶

We did it!! With the help of my husband and my sister-in-law, I was able to trap every single cat in this colony! Gorgeous G2 and his 13 colony mates will never have to reproduce again and will never need to wander in search of food — they have the most kind-hearted caretakers in the world, and I'm not just saying that.

I have a couple more potential TNR sites in the works, so please stay tuned! I know I'm bound to find kittens along the way, but I'd love to prevent them instead.🫶

🪲This is Bug: The likely father of some of Blankie's kittens! Bug appeared on my porch a couple weeks ago, spraying and looking for a "friend." I decided to start feeding him so I could TNR him and prevent more kittens! I've since learned that he's not microchipped and isn't too wary of humans, but he clearly prefers his outdoor life. Now that he's neutered, vaccinated, and ear-tipped, he's free to go!

Come back anytime, Bug! You'll have a snack waiting for you every night if you want it.💕

This big guy was pretty scary.👻 Sam is one of the males at the big colony I'm working on, and he just graduated from TNR after *lunging* at me through the trap and the divider one too many times. Feeding cats like him after surgery is NOT my favorite.🥴

Mad respect for you, Sam! I'm sorry you had to deal with me the past couple days, but now you get to experience the beauty of TNR — you can live your outdoor life as far away from humans as you please.🫶

Ps. Don't worry, he has a nice dark trap cover! This was the only way he'd let me snap a clear picture of him and his new ear tip, which is something I do for all my TNR kitties.

I finally caught mister Rebel! Until he walked under my drop trap, he was the only cat in this entire colony that I hadn't seen before. The caregiver thinks he's one of Mama Cat's original kittens, so he's been around quite a while. His days of breeding and fighting are officially behind him thanks to TNR!

🎯🪤Target acquired!! Here she is: The mama cat I've been trying to trap since October!

She's the kitty who started the big cat colony I've been working on. We know she's had litter after litter for at least four years. Although not many of her kittens ever made it to their first birthday, enough survived to create a dozen+ colony.❤️‍🩹

Now, that's all in the past. She's been TNR'd and is about to be returned to her gorgeous outdoor home. I'm so happy for her! No more kittens for you, baby girl.
