Chevy's Ongoing Medical Expenses Welcome to Chevy's ongoing medical expenses page. This auction is to benefit Chevy and his upcoming surgery. We have got his ears all healed up.

He needs a dental surgery and a possible 2nd Entropion eye surgery. I will be updating his medical condition and estimates as the auction goes on. Chevy is only 4 years old and has already been through so much. He was shot in the face when he was only a year and half old. He has been passed around from owner to owner until he ended up with a friend of mine who also had some issues that needed deal

t with and he could not afford the vet care Chevy needed. His last owner did get Chevy fixed and had an entropion done a few years ago, but he fell on hard times and needed help himself so rather than Chevy end up at the pound facing a death sentence he came here while his owner gets back on his feet and gets his life straightened out. Chevy has severe allergies and is on a special food and diet as well as Apoquel every month. He returns to the doctor on the 14th of November to check his eye progress with the eye meds we are using to see if he needs another surgery or if his eye issue is due to the trauma he has suffered. He will then go for a 2nd opinion and then I will be searching to get the best price to get his surgery/surgeries done. He has made so much progress since he came here September 4th. His skin issues are under control and we are down to getting this eye issue and dental taken care of. I can’t say thank you enough to everyone that has donated and helped Chevy along his journey of getting well. Your donations to the auction and his vet bills mean so much to myself and Chevy.

Chevy went for his yearly check-up today and got a good report. He is a healthy, slightly overweight (5lbs) dog. Dr. Knapp said keep doing what I am doing and unless problems arise come back in a year.

In 4 weeks he will get his Flu shot boostered and I only do Flu because of being in Rescue I make sure all my dogs are covered because bringing in dogs that you don't know their history and with a large pack I don't want anything spread.

Thank you to everyone that donated to Chevy's care since his Journey began.

Chevy's Med Vet appointment went great!

The Doctor was very satisfied with the results of the meds he is on.
Nothing changed with meds and she saw no ulcers, tears, abrasions on his Cornea. She said he does have vision in that eye as well.
She feels he is no pain or discomfort at this time and he is due back in 6 months to evaluate again.

She said as long as the meds are affordable then we should do it.
I am not going to lie 6 eyes meds a day throughout the day some get done 1 time, some 2 and some 3 times it can get a bit time overwhelming. Let's not mention cost a month as you can see from his post below range around $150-$300 a month depending on price and how many times it needs filled in a month. I coupon and constantly transfer to get the best price on his meds as well.

Right now I am $ +58.92. I am very thankful to my friend that continues to pay for his food every month which is about a $100 a bag as well.

With that being said if you feel like you have a few extra bucks to throw Chevy's way please do so. It would be greatly appreciated.
I can't ever give up on this boy no matter what it costs me. He deserves the best.

1 year ago today Chevy entered into my life with hopes that his owner would get himself together and get help.

That didn't happen and he only got worse and what a hell of a year it's been.

Thank you to everyone that has taken this journey with Chevy and I. For your donations to get him the care he needed and continues to need.

None of this would have been possible without each and every one of you.

Update on Chevy's progress today from his vet visit at MedVet.

The doctor was very pleased with his eye and said that his cornea has improved. His eye is clear and he can see from it.

She left the option of the two different surgeries on the plate if I felt like that's what I wanted to do later down the line or if I thought I wanted to do it now.

She said if I felt comfortable to keep doing what I been doing with the meds and see her in 6 months.

Surgery #1 will be to have the eye removed.

Surgery #2 Have a Parotid Duct Transposition surgery. This surgery comes with more problems down the line of possible calcium build up on the eye that will also need to be treated.

The parotid duct is a tube that carries saliva from the parotid salivary gland into the mouth. In a Parotid Duct Transposition, this duct is surgically relocated from the mouth into the pocket below the eye, which results in the eye being kept moist with saliva instead of the tears.

I opted for the time being to try and stick with the eye meds even though it's expensive every month.

Receipts and after care notes are below.

Thank you to everyone for making this all possible for Chevy.

Well just found out 1 of Chevy's meds for a month is a $112. it has to be compounded.

2nd med is around $44

3rd is $35

4th is $15

5th $42

6th $20

I need to really hit the lotto and that doesn't even count the Apoquel $55

10/06/2020

Outcome of Chevy's appointment today will consist of 6 different medicines for his eyes. I will upload his treatment plan as well as receipts for visit and medicines later.

I am still trying to find out prices on some of the meds as they have to come from a certain pharmacy. I have 2 ordered, 1 picked up and 1 on hand from before.

His eye issue is related to his trauma and I have a few options if this does not work.

He can have a reconstructive surgery to move some nerve from a saliva gland to his eye, but the draw back with that is he will have to be treated for calcium deposits that come from the saliva that will build up in his eye.

Option 2 is to remove the eye. Neither of these options will help with his crusty nose issue with the drainage he has.

I guess I am going to hope this works and know that Chevy will never get adopted and just do my best to give him what he needs the rest of his life.

He will return in 2 months after starting all these medicines to see what she thinks and we can decide then.

Thank you to everyone that has helped Chevy try to recover from the life he did not deserve. I am going to do my best to make this next life better.

Well Chevy has an appointment with the ophthalmologist at Med Vet on June 10th.

He is not responding to the new medication and his eye is getting gunk in it again. He does well on the terramycin, but can't stay on that long term.

I called and his appointment for consultation will be $175.00. Chevy has $134.95 left and it will go toward this bill from Med Vet.

Please send Chevy some prayers and let's hope he doesn't need some outrageous surgery for his eye. I hate the thought of Med Vet because all I hear are dollar signs when I hear the name.

If anybody wants to donate toward his care you can Pay Pal to [email protected].

I can't let Chevy down. He has been failed from the start with his eye and I am going to do whatever I can to help him.

Thank you to everyone that has helped him along his journey. He is so worth it all.

Doing a quick update on Chevy since his last vet appointment. I have been waiting on his medicine to get here. This is the last step for Chevy before he will have to go to Med Vet to see an ophthalmologist. Please send prayers that this works because we all know how expensive Med Vet is. I will update the account list with receipts in a little bit. This is his new medicine schedule for his eye.

Neo/Poly/Dex ointment 3 times a day

Optixcare 4 times a day

Optimmune 2 times a day

Wanted to give an update on Chevy. He started on his new eye med tacrolimus a couple weeks ago. He has a vet appointment to check his tear production on April 4th. Some days I feel like he will never get any relief from his eye where he was shot. This poor boy deserves so much better than the hand he was dealt.

16/02/2020

Wanted to give an update on Chevy. He is coming off the Pilocarpine and Optimmune and starting a new med for his eye. He topped out with the Pilocarpine and his tear production is still not where is should be. He will be going on Tacrolimus and GenTeal artifical tears to see how it helps. This was suggested by the Ophthalmologist at Med Vet.

Robyn Byers Thank you for your donation towards Chevy's continued care.

Wanted to give an update on Chevy. He has started his Pilocaroine and is on his 3rd week at 9 drop 2 times a day and we have had little to no change. He will go up to 10 drops next Tuesday. I was able to find his medicine at Walmart and use a coupon and get it for half price for his refill. He will be getting his tooth bonded on the 18th of this month and a check on how this med is doing. Just wanted to update everyone. I will post the receipts below with the rest of them.

Chevy and I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.
