❤️🙏❤️ National FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) Awareness Day was yesterday. We currently have one of our babies, C.G. Oat, going through treatment, ( day 12 of 84).
C.G. Is now 6 months old. He came to us mid-August, found on his own begging and searching for food. During one of his exams, a grade III-IV heart murmur was detected. He was scheduled for his echocardiogram and fortunately the results indicated a small hole between left and right ventricle. Nothing that would preclude him from a normal life! Woohoo! A few days following, we started noting that he was not as active and engaging as usual. His appetite had lessened. He appeared to show evidence of “winky” eye. Meds for upper respiratory were onboarded. However, several days in, literally overnight he developed hyphema. His eyes were filling up with blood. This is a clinical sign, not a disease. The search began to determine the cause. Multiple tests, different meds and a ton of prayers. All tests returned negative. It now looked pretty certain, based on clinical signs, (FIP has no real test) C.G.Oat is suffering from Ocular Dry FIP. FIP untreated is a death sentence. FIP meds are finally able to be recommended by our vets. FIP can be survived!!! Without hesitation we immediately ordered and overnighted 84 days of meds. By day 2, ( he currently takes 1 pill every 24 hrs) his eyes were noticeably improving. His vision was returning! By day 4, he was purring, began playing again - found the paper towels most amusing, and could be heard batting around his toys. He is on day 12 of treatment and appears to be responding very well. He will require blood panels along the way but for right now, he is doing amazing. Of course to give this boy the chance at the life he deserves comes at a cost. We currently, with FIP meds, exams, and diagnostic tests are at $2416.49. Your support is greatly appreciated. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

An Oak Tree is a nut that refused to give up

OakTree Crew, Inc. is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), all-volunteer group of animal lovers. OTC has observed a great need in our community to educate, assist, rescue, foster, provide medical care and love for the unwanted, homeless, neglected and abused animals we so often see. Our organization works diligently to reduce the population of homeless/unwanted animals through continued public education on the importance of spay/neuter, vaccinations, preventatives, and training as part of responsible pet ownership. We are dedicated to addressing the plight of the feral, abandoned, and unwanted felines within our community. Through the utilization of TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release) we aim to reduce the community cat population with the goal of ending the suffering for these creatures that nature intended to be domesticated. We take in abandoned and abused cats and dogs and nurse them back to health, both physically and emotionally. All within the trust- building safety of a foster- based network. The ultimate goal of the OakTree Crew is to find each of them their very own, much deserved, permanent indoor home. We provide screening of all adoptive applicants to assure that the suitable companion is placed with the appropriate family. OTC, Inc. provides these needed services through our fund-raising events set in place by our dedicated volunteers and through donations from individuals that believe in our mission and share in our belief that one little acorn, with time, can start a whole forest of Mighty Oaks.

The OakTree Crew is a very small rehab and re homing organization. We are not a shelter and do not have a physical address to visit. Our cats and kittens are housed, cared for and loved in foster homes.

We do not have a shelter or paid staff. All DONATIONS are utilized to provide spay/neuter, medical care, general care, supplies and enrichment needed to support these rescued creatures and provide them with the best opportunity for healthy, long lives.

Tax deductible monetary donations can be made via PayPal to [email protected] or mailed to: Oaktree Crew, Inc. P.O. Box 107 Bozrah, CT 06334
