Working these kinds of cases = always fun. Really getting into dog behavior to bridge the communication gap in a controlled setting and seeing that communication come across clearly and effectively is a cool thing to see. It’s a process l, but with a hormonal momma dog our goals are simple and geared towards predictable + functional management. Safely get the momma out of the room so the puppies can get monitored and the area cleaned. Phase 2 when the puppies are older will be geared towards behavioral rehab with just the momma ( whatever that looks like at the time).

It’s definitely that time of year when hiking and adventures are the most fun! Going out with dogs that are trained definitely make a huge difference! Sadie the Chocolate lab is working on her leash manners and dog reactivity. She did our 5 mile hike without pulling!

It’s finally time! After having Jackson for a few months we’re finally ready to transition him to his forever home. He has grown a lot in confidence and had a successful, temporary holiday foster experience. A new person, and a completely new environment but he did extremely well adjusting. This was our greenlight and his final test. This boy is ready for a family to call his own (although we are in no rush to place him). We are willing to take the time to find the perfect fit that will allow him to be his best self! Although he’s small, cute, and cuddly, boundaries and rules allow him to be a confident and loving companion. If it’s all cuddles and snuggles, he will revert back to a fearful, insecure dude. We are here to help teach you how to bring out his best! If you are a person or know a person who is a good fit and will provide an active and engaging life, feel free to reach out! We think he would be a fantastic dog for trick training, flyball, lure coursing, and an introduction to herding (he has shown that his breed treats really shine with this being an Australian Shepherd cattle dog cross). At this point, I'm sure you've seen the news about an unknown upper respiratory illness affecting dogs across the country, making many very sick.

We want you to know we are doing our best to protect our dogs and our clients' dogs from this illness by asking those who will be staying with us to help us do that by being proactive in keeping all their dogs home and healthy for atleast 2 weeks before their stay.

We ask owners to keep their dog from away from these situations:
- the groomer
- dog daycare/boarding
- dog friendly stores/restaurants
- dog training classes
- unnecessary trips to the vet
- places frequented by dogs (parks, walking trails, etc)
- playdates/on leash greetings/shared food or water bowls with dogs outside of your household
- pet relief areas/other pet hotspots during travel

If your dog is showing any symptoms of a cough, nasal discharge, lethargy, not feeling well, etc to please reschedule with us.

We ask owners to help us keep everyone safe and healthy while more is researched about this unknown illness. Thank you!

Whoever says, old dogs and hounds can’t be trained, certainly didn’t give Snoopy the memo. He’s turning out to be a star pupil! Turns out old dogs can definitely learn new tricks and obedience as well 🤣

Check out Ivy and Rizzo. Boston Terrier siblings working in their obedience. Due to the nature of their dynamic at home, we separated them for part of their training. Ivy ( first picture) came first and Rizzo, 2 weeks after. Next week we will wrap up Rizzos training and have Ivy with us for the later part of that week to get them on the same page. Have you heard the myth, that training makes your dog robotic? Well it’s just that - a myth. Having your dog under control allows you to give them more freedom to be themselves. Like I tell my clients, you can let your dog be goofy, silly, and crazy as long as they listen when you tell them to stop. There’s a time for jumping and there’s a time where it’s inappropriate etc. Having an “on and off switch” is the key to having a dog that enjoys life as well as a dog that you can enjoy without being a victim of their happiness.

On average, you will have 10 good summers with your dog. How are you spending them? Could training help you to enjoy them more with your dog? Or maybe training will allow you to include them for the first time. As this summer comes to a close, look back and see what you think. Time really flys by in these board and train programs! We get a lot done and the dogs get so many new experiences! Doc just wrapped up his board and train program and is ready to take on new adventures at home! At only 6 months old he is set up to be the perfect sidekick. We can’t wait to see where life takes him!

I’m sure you’ve seen this little guy in our stories but it’s time for a proper introduction. Meet Doc, a Pyrenees/golden retriever. Not yet a year old he’s already a big dude. He’s definitely in his 6month old adolescence and is happily pushing to find everything the world had to offer. This is the perfect time to begin obedience training and to really push that confidence building! Even the sweetest dogs can be a handful if there isn’t a standard of communication and expectations for appropriate behavior. Doc will be accompanying his humans to their work and will need to be able to listen reliably and confidently. We’re excited to have him here and are already super impressed with his temperament and eagerness to learn. Keep up with our stories to look at snippets of his daily training!

Does obedience training mean you can’t have fun with your dog? Does it mean they have to be a robot? What do you think?

Our graduates group class teamed up with ONE FIT K9 for an afternoon full of fun. Part of our dog days of Summer July program- training graduates have the opportunity to learn about activities with their dogs beyond day to day obedience. This Saturday we entered the splash zone and each participant got an intro to dock diving! You would never think that many of these dogs came to training with issues like biting, human aggression, dog aggression, extreme fearfulness etc. Creating a healthy relationship with boundaries, consequences, and rewards made days like this possible.
Each dog and owner had impeccable manners with all the craziness going on and also had a blast themselves! Yes it’s possible to have both!!! ( But you can’t have one without the other!)

Training is so much more than sit, stay,come. Being able to do life with your dog is what people are really looking for. Although all of our graduates are fantastic with their basic obedience, it doesn’t just stop there! Learn to do life with your dog! Take them along with you! That’s what training is for!

Congratulations Peanut! He just graduated our gold program! We are so excited for him to be able to live his life off leash safely while still being able enjoy all the things beagles love to do- sniffing, trailing, running and exploring.

We do our training programs a little differently here! We’re all about owners accessing the high quality training we instill in their pups! That’s why we offer weekly group class to continue practicing and working with your dogs after training is complete. Some of our graduates classes are obedience focused, some are adventures, and some we work on handling skills, but you can be assured that there’s something for everyone!

After completing an obedience program, clients can attend weekly group class to continue practicing. Super proud of this crew! You’d never know that these dogs prior to training would be barking, pulling, some even screaming in a situation like this. Even better- owners can look forward to challenging their dogs in difficult environments, knowing that they as handlers have the skills and knowledge to tackle any situation!

You may have noticed a new face around here! This is Indy, an adolescent Airedale. She’s a super sweet girl but a little bossy and a little out of control. Her mom wants a better relationship with her dog and the clear communication obedience behaviors bring to the table. Indy has not seen a lot of the world due to her behavior so we are hoping this will allow her to do life alongside her human. She’s had so many new experiences already and we are excited to see what her last week of training will bring! Welcome to the pack Indy!
