Today, Wednesday, December 9, 2020, Soli Deo says goodbye to one of its grandbabies, Una, aka CH Soli Deo's A Chip Off the Old Block. Una, a most beautiful Bullmastiff bitch, grew up with her owner, Caroline Morris Kaiser, Mark's youngest daughter, and her family. Caroline was only 17 when Una became her daughter, and, in the time since, Caroline has married, had a daughter of her own, and moved from Albemarle, NC to Hubert, NC and back to Albemarle, NC. A lot of life happenings in only 9+ years, and Una's been by Caroline's side for all of them.

Although being a Bullmastiff, weighing between 110-120 lbs, Una would love on you with her whole body, tail wagging THE WHOLE TIME. She was such a happy puppy, and one who cared deeply for "her" baby, Blakely, Caroline's daughter. Una knew that Blakely was coming while Blakely was still in the womb, for Caroline would encourage Una to lay down with her and listen to her baby bulge. When Blakely finally arrived, Una even kept watch across the room while Blakely was in the crib.; therefore, Blakely dubbed her "Mamu," for Mama Una. I can only imagine the "pony" doggy rides for that little one.

Una will be missed greatly, but, given that she has struggled over the weekend with what-we-think is congestive heart failure, a fate dealt to her mother, Soli, too, she will soon be in a better place.

Our hearts now have a big piece missing, and we shed tears for a soul who definitely made our lives better just by being present in them. Enjoy running with Mama Soli, Aunt Belle, Aunt Grace, and Aunt Gretchen. Aunt Belle might nip at your heels and tell you that she's just as big as you are (Belle was a French Bulldog); Aunt Grace will love on you and take you to wonderful places; and Aunt Gretchen will probably snub you and want to fight with you, although she knows you would win. Mama Soli now has another Bullmastiff with whom to roam the fields and reign over all the little dogs.

A belated Happy Birthday to our Chloe, aka CH Rival's Shamrock at Soli Deo JH, a most beautiful and vivacious 10-year-old Brittany girl. Chloe lights up a room when she enters it. She commands your attention, and she's intelligent and devilish. Happy Birthday sweet Girl. So thankful for your new mommy and daddy, Sandy and Mickey Dunaway.

As life has been crazy over the past 3 or so months, we have missed some important dates in the history of Soli Deo Kennel.

Back on April 14, Chloe's first litter of babies had their 6th birthdays. (Chloe, aka CH Rival's Shamrock at Soli Deo JH) A VERY belated birthday to those 5 Brittany grand-pups.

Just yesterday, May 18, Teal's only litter of pups had their 7th birthdays. (Teal, aka Soli Deo's Cinnamon Teal JH) Happy Birthday to our only Vizsla grand-pups, all 8 of them.

And tomorrow, May 20, Chloe's second litter of pups have their 4th birthdays. (Again, Chloe, aka CH Rival's Shamrock at Soli Deo JH) A most Happy Birthday to those 6 Brittany grand-pups.

Only two days late. Belated Happy Birthday to the second litter of Grace, aka Barben's High Society JH, on September 22. Those 8 grandpups turned 9 years old this past Sunday. Hope all of you are enjoying "the life" with your families. Our Teal, aka Soli Deo's Cinnamon Teal JH, is now the only dog in our Pack, and she is loving receiving all the attention, licking all the bowls and plates, and sleeping in bed with us.

Here at Soli Deo Kennel, we have a birthday Girl. Our Brittany, Juno, aka CH Shamrock's All the World's a Stage JH, turns 9 today, August 21, 2019. Juno is such a sweet Girl but is also ready to stand up for herself when needed. She loves to get into staring contests with us and enjoys crawling up onto our recliners and snuggling. She's such a sweet soul! Love that Girl. Happy Birthday, Ju-Ju. Mama and Daddy love you.

It is with a heavy heart that we share our Pack is one less this week. Our beautiful GSP girl, Gretchen, aka CH Robaron Perfect Storm, experienced some sort of heart event on July 2 and was not herself thereafter. She began to skip meals (VERY unlike her), and her energy level waned greatly. When last week she was having difficulty keeping her legs underneath her, and her eyes begin to show that she was becoming unaware of her surroundings, Mark made the most difficult decision to take her to the vet.

Gretchen was quite a beautiful girl, gaining her AKC Conformation Championship quickly. She was also an unusual Girl in that she lived an anxious life. Nonetheless, we loved her, and, as painful as it is to reach "this" time, Mark showed his last bit of love by mercifully sparing her any further suffering. Gretchen, we love you! So glad you are whole again and are romping around in the fields of heaven with your sissies, Belle, Soli, and Grace. You will be missed! August 16, 2007 - July 10, 2019

Happy Birthday to our very inquisitive, energetic, affectionate, and intelligent girl. Chloe, you keep us on our toes!

February 11, 2019 ... As this is the beginning of the 2019 Westminster Dog Show, it is a banner day in the pure-breed dog world. It also is the day when our matriarch, Grace, aka Barben's High Society JH, traveled across the proverbial rainbow bridge. Grace was "the bestest dog in the whole wide world" to us.

We will miss her sweet presence terribly. She is one dog about whom we can say we are better for having known and had love us. Such a sweet soul. "Grace, Mama and Daddy love you so much and always will. You're the bestest dog in the whole wide world. Enjoy running and smiling with Mr. Dick, Belle, and Soli." Well, Soli Deo Kennel has added a new member to its Pack, i.e. WesAnn's Money Talks at Soli Deo, aka "Haven." Haven's whelp date is June 16, 2018, and she came to live with us on August 24, 2018. A German Wirehaired Pointer with a sparkly personality, she is quite a beauty. Welcome to our family, Haven!

It's August 16 and time for us to celebrate another canine birthday. Our Gretchen, aka Robaron Perfect Storm, a German Shorthaired Pointer, turns 11 years old today. While she's a challenge sometimes, she's quite a beautiful girl, and we love her. Happy Birthday, Gretchen!

We are proud to announce that we are Brittany great-grandparents to the pups of our grandpup, GCH CH Soli Deo's D'Artagnan the Brave MH, aka Cam. Cam became a father to six pups, three boys and three girls, on July 29, 2018. All babies are very healthy, and great-grandfather Mark was there to whelp them, with the assistance of Cam's owners, Jerry Anderson and LuAnne Box.
