The Yangtze River Basin in China is home to the freshwater species known as the Chinese high fin shark. Chinese high fin banded shark, Chinese banded shark, Chinese sailfin sucker, topsail sucker, and other names have all been used to advertise the species. We can use its scientific name, Myxocyprinus asiaticus, to prevent naming ambiguity. They are shy, huge freshwater fish, not genuine sharks, despite their intriguing name.
