HAPPY UPDATE!! 💙

Romeo is safely back home with his very grateful family this afternoon.

Romeo and his dog buddy became lost on 1/10 in a very rural area in Lisle.; the other dog made her way back home. Unfortunately, Romeo couldn't quite figure out the way back even though he was generally 1/4 to 1/2 mile from home.

He was picked up on a trail cam on 1/13 so we went and set a trap in that area. The area was about 1/4 mile from the road. During this time period we had temperatures in the low teens and at times single digits. This would make it so a dog doesn't travel more than necessary to conserve energy. There was a few sightings of him in the area of Mount Hunger Rd., Mark's Rd. and Lamb Rd.

Today (1/18) we received word that he was at a residence on Cherry Valley Rd. where he got into some garbage. The home owner put food out for him and Romeo seemed as though he may stay in the area. We contemplated moving the trap to the area but wanted to see if he would go near the trap as he did yesterday. He was near the trap yesterday but didn't seem interested in it.

Romeo made his way to the trap around 10:30 this morning and went right in!! He laid down and seemed to realize his adventure was over. When he saw his owner he was so happy...and just like that out of Survival Mode!

The red marker is the area Romeo was at this morning and the blue dot is where he was trapped.

***This is the first time we used our 70" trap that was able to be purchased by the generous donations to our gofundme. Thank you so much to all that donated to our efforts help lost dogs.

A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE! 🎄

The dog that we trapped on December 18th is now back with her family!

This little girl was adopted from the Broome County Humane Society on 10/10 by a couple that lives in Marathon. She slipped her collar while being taken out to go potty. One owner managed to get close enough to her to slip the collar back on but then she got out if his grasp.

We were contacted about her in 12/16 by a caring couple at Virginia City Trailer Park in Port Crane. They had seen her behind their trailer off and on for a few days. They set food out for her so that she would stay in the area. She would run if she was approached or spoken to.

We set a trap for her on 12/17 but she didn't go near it. It did t help that we had 2 inches of rain that day and night!

We went and freshened up the trap the morning of 12/18 and we saw her behind the trailer where she had been found shelter. Of course we knew we couldn't "get her" so we left the area after put fresh food in the trap.

The dog ventured over to the trap a couple hours after we set it and couldn't resist the delicious food put inside for her!

A follower of this page had also remembered seeing a post from the Humane Society of a lost dog similar to her so I looked for that post and sure enough it definitely looked like the same dog!

The shelter had scanned her for a microchip and found one so I asked the owner to send me the chip number given to her her. Sure enough it was a match! She hadn't been registered with the new owners with the microchip company yet as they just adopted her the day she was lost.

It appears from the map that she had followed the Tioughnioga River until Chenago Forks and the the Chenango River which would account for the lack of sightings. If only dogs could talk!

After 10 weeks of being lost she seems to be in good shape except for being quite thin. Dogs are survivors!

Today the owners were reunited with the sweet dog! Her new name is Daisy and she will have two new dog friends in her life that will help her adjust to her new life.

💜 Her new family is taking ALL extra precautions to make sure she is safe💜

Have a happy new life Daisy!

HAPPY NEWS!

We were contacted about a dog that had been running in a trailer park in Port Crane for the past 5 days. The dog would run if anyone tried to approach it.

She found shelter behind a trailer where some things were being stored and the residents put food out for her to keep her in the area.

Yesterday we set a trap but she chose not to go near it. This morning we went to freshen the food and put a dry towel in the trap. We had a good 2 inches of rain overnight and the towel was so saturated that it was too heavy on the trip plate!

We saw her when we were there this morning and fortunately she didn't leave the area. She took the plunge and went in the trap just over an hour after we had reset it..

She seems like a sweet young dog and is wearing a collar but there have been no lost reports made for her. I am sure she is relieved to be out if the rain and now into the warmth and care of the Broome County Dog Shelter. 😊

We were contacted about this dog that had been seen in the area of an abandoned, burned house in the City of Binghamton for the past week. The concerned neighbors said he would run if they tried to approach him.

We went to the area to set a trap and saw the dog sunning himself on a neighbors steps. We proceeded to set the trap at the abandoned house and by the time we had set up the dog had made his way to the area. We watched from a distance while he decided to lift his leg and mark the trap. He went in the trap within 5 minutes; which is certainly one of our quickest dog trapping!

He seems like a nice dog but was just frightened and confused. 😊

Look what arrived today! Thank you to Jamie's friend who transported it to our house from his place of business where it was delivered in order to lower the cost of shipping.

Our new 72" True-catch dog trap that was purchased from the generous donations from the Sadie's New Leash on Life Dog Trapping Go Fund Me which was started by our friend and fellow dog lover, Karen Hobbs ! We also have 2 wheel sets to help move the trap more easily. It is quite heavy empty so this will be super helpful when moving with a very large dog inside.

Thank you to everyone that has made donations towards our work trapping lost and stray dogs; it really touches my heart!

HAPPY NEWS!

Louie, a little Yorkie, who was lost and running around scared for 9 days has been successfully trapped by Sadie's New Leash on Life Dog Trapping this afternoon. 😀

Louie became lost on 10/7 in the area of Tracy St. in Endicott while being cared for at the owners friend's house.

On 10/8 Louie made the dangerous trek crossing the NY 26 Bridge that goes from Endicott from Vestal! This is a very busy stretch of roadway and there is no sidewalk on this bridge!

The owner reached out to me on 10/13 when she was contacted by a passerby who saw Louie on the on ramp from Vestal Rd. to 17 West. The passersby was able to chase him off the ramp and into the brushy area between the highway and the fencing that separates the houses.

There was no way to set a feeding station down the embankment and in such a dangerous area.

I drove the area and spoke with dozens of residents to make them aware of of Louie. I learned that he had been seen by several people at various times over the previous days in the area of Vestal Rd. and Vestal Lane.

I observed a hole in the fence that goes from the embankment near the highway and into the neighborhood. A feeding station was set along with a camera and I hoped that this is where the dog would go through. My hunch was correct and he showed on camera the following morning at 6:30 am. I am not sure he found much food because a stray cat had been there earlier and enjoyed most of it. Additional food was placed out for him but he didn't show but the stray cat did.

We went to set a trap on 10/15 and when we arrived at the location we saw Louie scouring the area for more food! After a short period of time he ran behind a house and into the brushy wooded area.

We set the trap and hoped he would show; it was a bit discouraging when he was a no show again. We did trap a different stray cat though. 🙄

The trap was reset this morning and Mr. Louie made his was to the area shortly after 1 pm. He didn't hesitate to go in the trap and was calm enough to eat all of the food inside. 😃

His family is ecstatic to have him back home!

The map shows the street Louie was lost from and the blue dot is where he was trapped.

HAPPY NEWS!

This dog was seen in the Town of Maine on 10/6 in the area of a fishing access. He had taken shelter under a piece of heavy equipment. A group of concerned people tried to help him out but he wouldn't get up and would do a low growl but not come.towards them. They were concerned that he may have been injured. Food and water had been set out for him by the caring people.

We were contacted about him last night and a plan was put into place to set up a trap early this morning. It was asked that no one go to the area so that the dog hopefully stay put until we could set the trap.

We met DCO Lawler at the location and the dog was still near the equipment but was standing and very slowly walking around. He didn't have any visible injuries but something he definitely is not feeling his best. The dog was quite curious about what we were doing as we set up.

We had the trap set a little after 8 am and hoped he would make his way towards it after we left the area.

At noon we got photos that he was trapped! We met DCO Lawler and helped him load up this hefty pup into his van and off to the Broome County Humane Society they went. I am sure the dog will be very nice and warm tonight after being put in the rain last night and today with just the shelter of the equipment.

Thank you to everyone that was concerned about the dog and their understanding that it was best to stay away from the area so he would remain there.

Happy News!!

We successfully trapped Finn who became lost two days ago in Onondaga, south of Syracuse, overnight.

Sweet Finn has now been trapped by us 3 times and each circumstance had been completely different than the others.

Finn and his owner formerly lived in Binghamton but now live in New Jersey and went to Onondaga to visit friends for the weekend. On Sunday afternoon Finn was left at the house while his owner and the friends went out for a bit.

At some point, something either spooked Finn or he suffered some seperation anxiety. It was apparent that something had happened to cause him not to act like himself. He managed to push two AC's out of windows; one on the second floor and the other on the first floor. He jumped out the first floor window and was seen running into the wooded area behind the house. Finn has been to this house visiting in the past and has taken walks in the development.

We were hopeful that he would remain in the area but were unsure if he would dare to go into a trap again. The other times he was missing he would not be seen during the day but would come out only at night; this is what we expected this time also.

The owner knew from the other times that food and water , and scent items needed to be set out and no walking, calling or searching should be done. Neighbors were made aware of the situation in case they saw Finn.

Sure enough later that evening Finn found the food that had been set out. Finn also was wearing an Apple Air Tag and the owner could approximate the areas he was moving.

We drove to the area Monday afternoon and set up the trap and camera. We used a larger trap than the one we previously trapped him in. There wasn't a huge rush to get up there because we were quite confident he would only come out at night.

As expected he showed up at the area and nosed around the trap several times coming and going. He finally decided to do the often seen "dog stretch " into the trap to get some of the food trail. He didn't dare go all the way in though.

The next evening the homeowners upped the food value and used a McDonald's cheeseburger and a pork chop which was zip-tied to the inside back of the trap.

He came back again in the cloak of darkness to see what food could be found. Finally after a couple of hours of thinking whether he should go all the way in for the pork chop he went all the way in!

The trap was brought into the garage and he rested in it until early morning when we went up to get him and bring him back to Binghamton. His owner drove from NJ to meet us and bring her little buddy back home.

Finn's owner has taken precautions to keep him safe and uses a Martingale with a harness along with a jogging leash. He is buckled properly on car trips. He is actually a very sweet, social pup and enjoys going to doggie day care and attention from people.

The first time we trapped Finn was in Binghamton a couple of years ago. He was being taken for a walk when the retractable leash his owner was using was dropped and the noise of it bouncing behind him caused him to keep running. Finn would be seen close to his house at night and we ended up trapping him right in his own backyard.

The second time we trapped Finn was when his owner went out of town and had a friend caring for him. The caretaker mistakenly put a decorative collar on him, which he would wear with his other collar, instead of the Martingale. He ended up slipping the collar. We tried to trap him with regular box trap but he wanted no part of that. We brought our enclosure trap and managed to get him with that.

Hopefully, this will be the end of Finn's unwanted adventures! 😊

Well, this is crazy, good news!

I just received word from Gretel's owner that she is safely back home!

She was lost one month ago today in a rural area of Franklin. I had been in contact with her owners and guided them as to steps to take when when there were sightings. In the last couple of weeks there would be sporadic sightings within a few miles from each other and a feeding station would be set. Unfortunately, Gretel never found them.

Tonight the family received a sighting which was 5 miles away from a sighting last night. The husband went to the location and Miss Gretel walked right up to him in his truck! Dogs, sometimes you don't know what they will do!

HAPPY UPDATE!

The scared dog that had been seen in various rural areas in Newark Valley since 9/11 has been brought to safety this evening. We assisted DCO Liske I trapping her.

This poor girl had been seen in the area since at least 9/11. She does appear to have had pups rather recently but there is no evidence that she is still nursing or has any puppies with her.

There had been a sighting of her today up in a field on West Creek Rd. by farmers harvesting crops. They were smart not to chase her and were kind enough to set food and water in the area for her. She found the food and ate it up then curled up near some brush for a nap.

This evening we went to the area and saw her resting in the same area approximately 40 yards away from us. We set up the trap and she decided another good meal was worth going into the trap for.

She will now be safe and warm and hopefully find a perfect family to love her. It is very likely she had been dumped after having her pups, which seems to be quite common these days. 😕

HAPPY NEWS! Iris was trapped by Sadie's New Leash on Life Dog Trapping.

Iris is safely back home this morning. She escaped her home on 9/2 when she and another Husky she lives with went out a window that was pushed open by the other Husky.

The dogs had just moved to their new home the day before in Endicott from a very rural town. They definitely were not familiar with the vehicle traffic in the area.

They had been running the Northside area of Endicott but the owners were able to get the other dog. Iris continued to run the streets; at one point all the way down to the old Kmart Plaza near Vestal Ave.

There had numerous sightings of her dodging traffic on Country Club Rd. and many other street in the area. Poor Iris was very frightened and would run if someone tried to get her.

After a few days the sightings stopped and it became evident Iris was now only coming out at night; which was good for her own safety.

A few days ago she ended up making her way back to her new home at night. Her owner left the gate open to the backyard and would open the door to let her in but she would bolt before the door could be opened. It wasn't an option to leave the door open overnight.

On Saturday we set the trap up on the porch at her house. It does sound crazy that a dog may need to be trapped when they are right at their home but this situation does happen occasionally.

Unfortunately, that night we had a lot of rain and she didn't show. We ended up having a squirrel eat all of the bait food in the trap; fortunately, it was too lightweight to trip it. More food was put in and then a cat was trapped. 🙄

Additional food was put in at nightfall in hopes that Iris would show. Again, it rained ALL night and she didn't show. The rain stopped early morning and Iris came to the trap a little before 7 am! Into the trap she went and now she is safe in her new home. 😃

HAPPY NEWS!

We were contacted this afternoon about this little dog that had been seen running scared the past couple of days in Endicott in the area of Main St. and Madison Ave. across from the Union Endicott High School.

Anytime someone would try to approach her she would take off running! The area is very busy everyday with traffic but next week would cause a greater risk to her safety when kids return to school.

Fortunately, she decided to enjoy the food options given to her in the trap, which was Vienna sausages, McDonald's cheeseburger and Chicken Mcnuggets.

This sweet pup was loaded with fleas! She received a flea bath as soon as she arrived at the shelter.

She will enjoy a nice safe bed tonight and that makes us very happy!

HAPPY NEWS!

The skittish little dog that had been running the area of Oakdale Rd. and Overbrook Dr. in Johnson City was safely trapped last night.

This little cutie would run every time Dog Control or anyone else would try to approach. Oakdale road is quite busy and cars drive fast so that posed a great danger to him.

He was very odd because he started hanging out at a house and barking incessantly! He acted like he wanted to stay there. He never lived there nor was he being fed there...just odd.

We didn't set the trap there so we didn't scare him away so we set up in an area he was known to travel through.

As it turns out he seems quite friendly and is only about 6 months old. May this little one have a good, happy life ahead of him!

This melted my heart...and broke it. I tried to gain her trust to put a slip lead on but she was having no part of that. She would yelp if I even moved it towards her.
