Here is what to do to never find yourself in the situation whereby your Pit Bull adopts the abdominent behavior by growling at you.
Before we begin we need to clarify a few prominent points.. Within the same breed dogs have different character traits, dominant dogs and submissive dogs. Dogs who growl at their owners refuse orders and in the worst case bite are dominant dogs who's owners have made mistakes in raising them, these are the dogs were you can't make mistakes because these dogs have the instinct to be at top of the hierarchy and they see the slightest opportunity to dominate the members of their pack. This makes the breeding of these dogs much more difficult when you don't have the knowledge and it's unfortunately that these dogs that are often most found in the pound who are the most abandoned.
Whatever temper your dog is I advise you apply the following; A dog who knows its place in the hierarchy is a happy, active & stable dog and with training you will it a dog with a very high level of discipline no breed is better to another one when it comes to discipline. Be your dog's Alpha. Here's the Do's & Dont's to keep you and your family above the dog in your hierarchy. First, let's summarize the life of a dog in three(3) points:
1. *Social life in a pack🐕🐶* In a pack the dominant dogs asset their dominants by fighting its their way of showing who's stronger, your dog considers your family as it's pack. To be above your dog in the hierarchy you need to make him understand that you and your family are much stronger than him, I strongly advise against beating your dog and if you do you will dominate your dog but he will become fearful, unstable, disturbed and a fearful dog is a dog that bites it won't bite you but it will bite someone who does a similar gesture. There are many more ways to show your dog your strength. *INTELLIGENCE* simple tools are a great showing strength to a dog. The leash, cage and muzzle are the tools that limit your dog's making him completely powerless against it. Your dog will be able to bite, pull or jump as many times as he wants before he understands that he won't be able to free himself, this Is the great working tool to show your dog who's above the hierarchy.
2.*Feed🥩* Feeding your dog is the best time to make your dog understand his place in the hierarchy. But it is also at this time that we can make the most mistakes. In the wild state, dogs struggle their entire lives to find food & feed. When you bring food to your dog from his point of view he is always grateful to you but from our point of view we tend to forget it and sometimes we see it as a chore, this is why you must remember that this moment is very prominent.. I do not recommend it when one decides to leave a bucket of kibble open on the floor or feeded by any other dispensing machine, the dog should always see where you & your family are feeding him. This is extremely important so that your dog can understand the benefits to you and understand the importance that you have In his life. If you feed your dog at the same time as you, never feed your dog before you do to get rid of this chore but just eat quietly infront of your television.. In a pack it is always the dominants who eats first in the best pieces if your dog sees that he eats before you his instincts can encourage him to adopt a dominant attitude towards you, show him that you eat first and then he only eats after you & your family HE MUST SEE YOU EAT BEFORE HIM its very important.*Don't tolerate him getting on the table or eat without your authorization if he already has this bad habit use a leash to tie the dog close to you to watch you eat with your family and then feed him repeat this training until he learns to take his turn.. If you feed your dog at other times than you do each time you feed him make him wait a few moments before allowing him to eat●keeping him waiting allows you to maintain your authority and to keep your place in the hierarchy● if your dog has not learned how to do this use your leash to tie up the dog and pause his food infront of him out of his reach, order him to sit down once sitted slowly bring his food closer making sure he's always sitted make him wait a while and give an order so that he can eat repeat as many times as necessary until he learn●*NOTE* when he begins to eat I advise you to not take his food back, it is the instinct of dogs to defend their food even if a dominant comes to eat he may growl at you. ¹Don't train your dog to growl at you or your family, ²Don't starve your dog. Have all your family members do this training always present the first times.
3*Rest🛏* Many people let their dog sleep with them in either a couch or ride on them this is something I advise against for the simple reason In a pack the dominant dog retains the privilege of sleeping in the best place, dominants always seek to climb on top of other dogs to asset the dominants their always looking to a higher height than other dogs in a pack. Let a dog have a higher height than you can stimulate their instinct and adopt an attitude of abdomination many people disagree with this because they let their dogs sleep with them and observe the stillness of the higher position in a hierarchy but maybe your dog is not dominant or you have touched your dog to sleep with you maybe you have been raising your dog since from birth. In a pack new borns are always at the bottom of the hierarchy and obey and learn much better than adult dog this is why people prefer owning a dog only when it is a puppy but some people adopted adult dogs that may be dominant in nature those that can be dangerous for them to believe that there is no risk in monitoring dogs and sleep with them please do not do your case of generality.
*Your dog need to know his place in the hierarchy he will test you one day or another to find out where is he in the hierarchy this is usually done from 6 months and if you refuse to believe in hierarchy and dominance make mistakes your dog will be unhappy, lazy & have a low level of discipline in the worst case if he's dominant in nature he will naturally have an instinct of adopting adbominent attitude with you, on the other hand if you have made your dog understand his place and that you are Alpha, instinctively dogs always follow and listen to the Alpha of the pack he will therefore be happy, active and obedient & with good training you will be able to make your dog have high discipline level he will be your most faithful companion ready to do anything for you protect you even if it means risking his life until death necessary.
