There’s a new respiratory disease making the rounds.

At present, cases have been reported in California, Oregon, and Colorado, with the illness expected to spread nationwide. Initial symptoms present as Kennel Cough.

Should your pup have the unfortunate luck of presenting symptoms, we highly recommend you start by taking your pup to see your veterinarian and confirming the diagnosis. Here are some additional steps you can take to lessen the symptoms.

As the holidays approach, we know the temptation to “reward” our pups with tasty treats from the table will be strong! If you want to feed your pup, here are some helpful tips on what is safe and what is not when treating your pup to human food around the holidays:

Make sure anything you serve your pup is cooked and bland. You don’t want to serve them anything with seasoning.

Stay away from cooked bones, any foods high in sugar, or any types of chocolate as it is highly toxic to dogs.

Nothing says feeling good more than downward dogs with Best Friends! Hosted at the &Pup Bushwick location on Saturday, November 11th, from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM., come practice your yoga poses and meet some featured Best Friends' pups. Yoga combines aspects of breath, strength, and balance, and the mental benefits are often realized quite quickly. Combine that with the positive energy that having pups around brings,  it is a recipe for good vibes, peace!
 
**This workshop will have a total yoga practice time of 1 hour, with the rest of the time reserved for socializing and relaxing with your pups!

"Let's Walk: Loose Leash Workshop"

In this workshop, led by &Pup Lead Trainer Holmes Rackleff, you will learn to teach your pup to walk politely on a leash! Life in the city means that our pups spend a lot of time on leash, and if your pup pulls or refuses to walk, it can make outings unpleasant and difficult. This workshop will give you effective strategies to teach your dog how to politely walk on a leash and make your walks more enjoyable.

Our Chief Pup Officer, Katie McGuire, spent the last week at Wild Blue Dogs’ Fall Camp. Read about her experience below:

"This was my third time teaching at Wild Blue Dogs Camp, and this one was their largest to date; 75 campers and around 100 dogs!

Personally, this camp was really beneficial for my youngest dog. Having the freedom to run off-leash, socialize with other friendly dogs and dog savvy humans, as well as getting to partake in new activities like kayaking and hiking with me really helped to boost her confidence!

The instructors who teach at camp are honestly some of the best in the industry, so the classes and workshops are extremely informative and valuable. At the end of the day, the best part of camp for me is being able to spend time with other like-minded dog lovers and see everyone enjoy the activities & develop their relationships with their dogs."
