Like Dogs, It will soon be mandatory to have your cat microchipped.

Microchips hold essential information to help locate you if your pet goes missing.
It also very important to keep your information up to date eg. your address and telephone number especially when moving house as this is likely when your pet may go missing.

Microchipping is £10 plus a small travel fee and with multiple pet households, there is discount up for grabs.

If you are interested to book your dog or cat in for a microchip that can be done in the comfort of your own home please get in touch via whattsapp or private message: 07867796661.

Up to an hour of evesham.

☺️

🐈 Did you know!? 🐈‍⬛

From the 10th of June it will be a legal requirement for cats to be microchipped if they are 20 weeks or older?

If your cat is not already microchipped and you would like to get them booked in at home in their own comfortable environment, please get in touch on: 07867796661 where throughout February- June I will be offering discounted rates with a free nurse health check included.

It is an important tool to help us as veterinary staff to reach and re unite owners when their pet may be in need or lost. If you wish to discuss the new rules or have questions about the microchipping process please also get in touch 😊

Beautiful morning scanning in the Cotswolds. Thanks to for allowing me to have a practice. It was very useful being able to distinguish differences with an empty ewe and a pregnant ewe. These ewes are due next month so were very hard to see if there were multiple due to them overlapping and having a scanner that is very detailed and better used at an early stage of pregnancy. This being said i will be scanning next season between 45-60 days roughly so please keep this in mind. I am still after anyone who has any ewes in lamb that are around these dates so if you know of anyone please let me know. This will be a free scan up to an hour away of evesham for the next month or so. Please get in touch on: 07867796661. Small flocks only. ‼️I’m scanning a different species tomorrow stay tuned for a guess the uterus‼️ 🐑🐶🐱🐹🐷🐰

Today is the first time since my sheep scanning course that I’ve had chance to get some practice in ready for next season of doing some small flocks. My scanner has a lot more detail than an oviscan which is the scanner the professionals use! With this in mind it is easier to see a pregnancy around 45-55 days or so as they will be smaller and more able to be seen in one screen frame without searching. However today i scanned a friends at around 77 days which was great practice and we got some great detail seeing the lambs! All were in lamb which is also brilliant news for them! Thanks chloe! Lots more practice to come but fingers crossed I’ll be a pro by next season!

‼️This being said if anyone has any sheep in lamb around 40-55 days please get in touch for a free scan! ‼️

Please whattsapp or message me on here or on: 07867796661

As promised some news.., another string to my bow in the form of SHEEP PREGNANCY SCANNING! This is pretty new for me so this season I’d love to have some practice with small flocks locally mainly to get myself into the swing of things! If you’d like to volunteer for this please PM me or WhatsApp! I do not have a race so it will just be myself and my ultrasound scanner- ideally indoors until I am set up with waterproof scanner protection! Special thanks to embryonics for the course allowing me to gain my certificate and also for helping me have a little practice prior to my training. (Sam is also fairly local to myself if anyone is looking for an established scanner this season!)

Just a kind note from a small business 😊

Please if you have said yes to wanting any of my services especially if this requires me ordering in any supplies, please make sure you give me plenty of notice if you no longer require them. These can include anything from microchips to bandaging materials.

Due to being a small business I cannot afford to order in a bulk of supplies at once if they will not be used. I do this especially for each client individually to give you the best possible prices and will always match prices if found cheaper elsewhere.

Thanks

The RVN Consultant ☺️

Recently had a litter of puppies or kittens?
Have a cat that isn't microchipped?

⁉️did you know cats need to be microchipped by law by June 2024 ⁉️

Please send me a message for more information if you would like them microchipping for an extremely competitive price and in their own home to prevent any stress.

🐶 A few weeks ago I scanned a little pug named Betty to check if she was in pup. She was an extremely wriggly little girl but we managed with the help of her parents to keep her still enough for a quick photo!

Take a look at the little sac containing the baby! It was very hard to give numbers however it looked like there could be at least 2-3. Needless to say she had 6!

Betty also had a follow up scan to check the pups were healthy. Sadly no photos to show here but heart beats were seen very active indicating good health.

Scanning is a very good diagnostic tool to check that once mated, the bitch is in fact in pup and not in any form of false pregnancy or has any infection present such as a pyrometra. It is also good to know there is more than one pup so that measures can be made for birthing.

Here at RVN Animal Health Consultant we believe scanning is a very important indicator of pup and bitch health.

Generally scanning is done from day 30 but can be done from 21 days if you are concerned.

What is a pyometra?

A pyometra is a serious and life threatening infection of the uterus. It is most common in older entire bi***es but is also seen in the younger- middle aged bitch.

After many ‘in heat’ cycles without pregnancy, the uterus wall can become thickened and thus promote an environment for bacteria and infection to grow.

SIGNS:

There are two types of pyometra, these are open and closed.

In an open pyometra, lethargy, increased temperature, anorexia, depressed, vomiting, diarrhoea can be seen along with vulval discharge.

This is also true for a closed pyometra however because the pus cannot drain, it pools within the uterus and the abdomen becomes distended. This type of pyometra is most severe due to the toxins released which are absorbed by the circulation. These can become severely sick very quickly.

It is common for this to happen post season whether mated or not so please if you have an entire bitch keep this in mind and if your animal shows any of these signs it is best to

Hi I’m Sarah, owner of the RVN consultant founded in 2022. I have been a registered veterinary nurse since 2016 working in a variety of practices up and down the country. Nursing is my passion and helping animals in their own home has always been something I believe to be missing from the veterinary field. This is no replacement for veterinary care by your vet but an added bonus to keep you’re animals healthy and happy with an experienced eye in their own environment.

This is something I do alongside my main RVN job at a nearby amazing mixed animal practice so general working hours are mornings and evenings however please get in touch if you have any questions for bookings and I’ll do my best to cater to all requests 🐶 🐱 Fully insured with VDS cover. Evesham based and happy to travel. I am also available for locum work.

A very busy few weeks with clients and their animals!
I still have a few locum dates or home visits available this month! If interested please give me a message ! 😊🦄

Meet monkey.

A special little girl who’s had a rough few weeks with her blood tests showing some abnormalities. Due to this, her vet had prescribed some tablets to support her recovery. Her lovely owners had contacted me for a little help, as her name suggests, giving her medication was becoming a struggle as she would not take them in food nor with treats and she gets stressed easily being put into a carrier to take to the vets.

It has been very rewarding watching Monkey grow stronger each day and hear that she is getting back to her normal cheeky self!
Well done Monkey! 🦁🧡

If you know of anyone struggling with this type of veterinary care or if you just need some tips, please get in touch. Equally if you are worried there are on some occasions different types of liquid, tablets or injections that may be available instead so please do contact your vet.
