"This is Molly! She is a 3 year old Black lab and needs to find a new home.We have had her since she was a puppy. Molly is very sweet and loves to play fetch and swim! Molly has been acting out since our baby was born and even tho we have tried to work with her the stress of a baby, a 7 year old and running 2 businesses we have decided she needs to be with someone that can make her the center of attention!

Molly needs to be in a home with older Children that will run and play with her. Kids under the age of 5 will not be suitable! She also needs someone that can spend time running and playing with her at least a couple times a day. She also will need a big yard and maybe somewhere she can spend a lot of time outside since when she is left alone she will Get into things and possibly have an accident on the floor due to her high anxiety. “Hi, I'm Tank! I am a German Shepherd mix and I will be 7 in September. I am a bit of an old man now in need of a calmer environment. I am looking for a home with NO other dogs and preferably little to no hardwood floors (pretty sure they are going to swallow me whole). I do fine with older children, but do not care for the young whipper snappers. They have too much energy for me... I like napping (but please don't wake me, it makes me grumpy), treats, belly rubs and talking. I can be quite vocal at times. I have no major health issues but I do have a reverse sneeze and shed a bunch! I was rehomed once before, but he had to move and couldn't keep me either. So I came back to my original home, but they have toddlers and other dogs that don't like me (one even bit my face!). I need a furever home... One year ago today Dogs Are My People launched!

This rescue was born out of a desire to help dogs in need, help people to see the gifts that dogs are to our lives, and to share non toxic dog care with dog owners.

My own dog came into my life after a very difficult season and the comfort and healing God brought to me through her has been salve for my heart.

She’s shown me the true gifts that dogs are to our lives.

Out of a desire to love her well and steward her life and health the best that I can, I discovered non toxic and natural dog care.

I feel forever indebted to her for all that she’s done for me.

In her honor, Dogs Are My People was launched!

UPDATE!!

Things have changed with the dog who's owner passed. The people who were caring for her decided to rehome her themselves and unless something changes she will not be coming into rescue.

We hope she has joined a wonderful, loving, forever family who will love and care for her well!

FERN & BEAN HAVE SOME EXCITING NEWS TO SHARE!!

Fern & Bean have both moved into a foster to adopt and are well on their way to adoption!! Their adoptions will be completed once their titer test and heart worm test results come back and once Bean is spayed!

Fern's foster family adored her so much that they decided they wanted her to be a part of their family forever!

Bean's family drove over 8 hours, one way, to meet her and make her a part of their family forever!

Both girls are absolutely adored and we are so thankful that they've found their people!

MEET BEAN! (PENDING ADOPTION)

BEAN is a female 5 month old BERNEDOODLE!

She is daughter to Fern, who is also in our care!

Bean is unspayed and will require a home with no unaltered males until she reaches her appropriate spay age.

Prior to coming into rescue she was living exclusively outdoors. She is doing great with potty training and has not had any accidents in her foster home! She even lets her foster mom know when she needs to potty!

While in rescue Bean has been loving, goofy, smart, and friendly to people. She does well with other dogs and appreciates a slow introduction when meeting her new dog friends!

(Please keep in mind that we observe rescues for a limited amount of time. A dog’s behavior can change greatly based on many factors including their environment, stress, fear, and transition. The behaviors observed in rescue are not guaranteed. As a rescue settles into their forever family and has time to decompress and feel safe and loved, their true personality will start to shine through! It’s a beautiful process to be a part of and each dog deserves a family committed to working with them and loving them as a member of the family, no matter what!)

Bean is dearly adored by our team and has given us all some laughs!

MEET FERN! (PENDING ADOPTION)

Fern is a female 2 year old STANDARD POODLE!

She is mom to Bean, who is also in our care, and was recently spayed!

Prior to coming into rescue she was living outdoors for the last few months. She does seem to be potty trained though and has not had any accidents in her foster home! She even lets her foster mom know when she needs to potty!

While in rescue Fern has been sweet, gentle, smart, quick to adapt, and friendly to people and other dogs.

(Please keep in mind that we observe rescues for a limited amount of time. A dog’s behavior can change greatly based on many factors including their environment, stress, fear, and transition. The behaviors observed in rescue are not guaranteed. As a rescue settles into their forever family and has time to decompress and feel safe and loved, their true personality will start to shine through! " Hi! I’m Hazel. I’m looking for a new home. Please help me by sharing this post:)
I was picked as a stray by a shelter so my foster mom isn’t too sure about my background, but I was in “ruff” shape. My neck was covered in sores from my collar, I hurt all over, and they were worried my leg was broken! Things are so much better now. My neck is all healed and it turns out I just had some tendon damage in my leg. It can’t be fixed but I get around just fine now with a little medication each morning, which helps my arthritis too:)
My foster mom says I’m such a good girl! I like to play ball and toys but mostly I just want to be with my people, snoozing by their feet, cuddling, or getting pets. I’m so quiet most of the time! I get along with most other dogs, but some girl dogs bother me if they won’t let me be boss. I bark really loud when strangers come over. I’m getting better about that, but still need a home with few visitors or a confident mom or dad who can help me with that.
My foster mom thinks I’m probably an Australian Kelpie mix.
I would prefer a quiet, low activity home without young kiddos to spend my golden years. My foster mom says I would make a great friend for anyone who wants a medium-small(35 lb), quiet, low energy dog who doesn’t need tons of exercise. Maybe another senior like me?

ARE MONTHLY FLEA & TICK PREVENTATIVES POISONING YOUR PETS?
Did you know that the FDA has linked flea & tick preventatives to neurological problems in pets? The most commonly reported are muscle tremors, ataxia, and seizures. These preventatives can also cause other symptoms including:
Tremors
Seizures
Ataxia
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Loss of appetite
Skin irritations
Lethargy
HOW THESE PREVENTATIVES WORK :
Flea & tick medications include toxic chemicals that are meant to block nerve signals in the pests they are meant to control.
> You give your dog (or cat) the medication, topically or orally.
> The medication enters their bloodstream and runs throughout
their body.
> The medication becomes concentrated in your pet's body &
tissues.
> When fleas or ticks bite your dog, they ingest the toxic
chemicals from the monthly preventative and they become
paralyzed (from the medication blocking their nerve signals)
and they die.
IN ORDER TO POISON THE PESTS, YOU HAVE TO FIRST POISON THE HOST -- YOUR DOG!
Though a flea/tick is much smaller than your pet, you are putting the same toxic chemicals in their body THAT ARE MEANT TO KILL!
** YOUR DOG SHOULD BE PROTECTED AGAINST PESTS, BUT THERE ARE NATURAL ALTERNATIVES TO THE TOXIC MONTHLY PREVENTATIVES **
Some NATURAL ALTERNATIVES include :
- essential oils (be sure to research which ones are safe for dogs
and which ones are not, and only use in safe doses)
- diluted apple cider vinegar (both internally and in a topical
spray)
- amber collars
- ultrasonic collars
- non toxic yard treatments ( including beneficial nematodes)
- many more!
There are many natural and non toxic alternatives to toxic monthly flea & tick preventatives. If you live in a high pest area, you might need to combine options to make sure your pet is properly protected.
** We encourage all pet parents to do their own research! You can consult with a holistic vet who will help you put an individualized plan together for your dog. And remember that no one loves and cares about your dog as much as you do! **
