Hello beautiful souls 💫🕯❤ If you can, today take time to stop, sit down, light a candle and place your right hand on your heart and breathe 3 deep breaths whilst looking at the flame and say out loud three times the name of your loved one - whether animal friend or human and just be with the emotions that come up, feel them, honour them. Then take a deep breath and say "I love you, I honour you, I thank you, I release you", say this as many times as you feel you want to and then just sit, breathe and be with the light, immerse your whole mind in the light. When you are ready, give thanks and blow out the candle. 🕯❤💫 If you feel you'd like to you can do some journaling of your experience or just take some quiet time for you. Sending you all my love ❤🕯💫🙏

As many of you will know, this week has been one of sadness saying goodbye to our beautiful Dachshund Frieda and for those of you who are experiencing something similar or knows someone who is then do have a listen/share this podcast that I had the pleasure in doing with Diane James who works with bereavement at Blue Cross UK where she shares with us all some helpful advise when grieving the death of a beloved animal friend.

It was a tough day today as we lay our darling Frieda to rest with her best friend Poppy, who died a year ago, but even through the tears and pain it brought home how important funerals are, not just for our human friends and family but our animal friends too.

Frieda has been a part of our lives for over 10 years and the house is very quiet and empty without her beautiful loving face and waggy tail.

Thank you Charlie BP and Elouise Bridgestock-Perriss for letting them rest a while with you ❤️🙏🕯🌟

Digging her grave, her 'nest', preparing her body, saying those final goodbyes to what was the physical representation of her whilst she was here on earth, gently laying her in woth Poppy, taking time to listen to music https://youtu.be/SOs4Ms-O1oM?si=X3FAi9KQwZVFrgXR, having family around gently playing Koshi chimes throughout, each of us scattering rose petals on her worn out body, saying a blessing, time for tears. It all played such an important part. We honoured Frieda today, we gave thanks for her and celebrated the joy she brought us.

A lovely surprise was that an oak sapling is growing from Poppy's wicker basket that she was buried in just a year ago. An oak that will represent their beautiful souls living on in the next realm where only love resides.

Today just so happens to be the 1 year anniversary of our father's funeral.

Rest in peace our darling Frieda ❤️

This book www.gentlegoodbye.com has been designed for all pet owners to prepare themselves for the inevitable time when we have to say farewell to our beloved animal friends. Nothing will be able to take away the sadness and pain but being prepared really does help to honour your animal friend as much in death as you have loved and cared for them in life.

As many of you know I am and End of Life Practitioner for both people and for pets, my human websites are www.hollylyonhawk.com and www.stagcremations.co.uk and across all three I share grief support. Grief following the death of a beloved animal friend can be as equally and for many, even more, challenging as that of a human and the cross overs in how we respond are similar, perhaps made more complicated with an animal friend due to other's lack of compassion and understanding of our bond. Here is a short introduction by co-author of Surviving the Tsunami of Grief book, Katrina Taee on how you may feel in the first few days following a death.

This Sunday at 10am. Free online webinar for all people who are grieving, whether the loss of an animal friend/pet, or a human.

Join Sabine Horner for her next Grief Support webinar which is just around the corner.

Join her this coming Sunday from 10-11am to find out more about:

- how following the biorhythms of nature supports our body
- how grief disrupts these biorhythms and our daily routine
- which practices can help us get back into a more natural flow by helping us (re-)establish a more regular daily routine

In this live webinar, Sabine will be sharing a lot of her own personal practices and coping strategies to give you an idea of where you could start making some changes to your current daily habits that would have the biggest impact on your energy levels, mood, mental focus or ability to cope with overwhelming emotions.

All these ideas for helpful daily practices can be regarded as additional self-care tips, following on her previous webinar on 'Self-care When Grieving', which you can watch here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDo62QyVMRI

However, there is no need to watch my previous webinar first if you have missed it in order to get the support that you may need at this moment in time.

To sign up for this webinar, simply follow this link and click the button 'Register for this month's free webinar' at the bottom of the page: https://holly-lyon-hawk-holistic-funeral-director.webinargeek.com/2023-stag-grief-support-self-care-old/join/ixdiadsa

Sabine looks forward to seeing you this Sunday!

Whether you are grieving the loss of a friend, relative, colleague or pet, learning to support yourself can be an invaluable tool to help you through what can be a very difficult time. This is a free grief recourse for everyone so please do share with those you feel may benefit.

Renowned author Felicity Warner of Soul Midwives writes:

"Like many of us, the wonderful animals in my life are members of my soul family.
This enchanting book - A Gentle Goodbye with Cinnamon the Rabbit - describes the joy of sharing a kind and compassionate life with our furry companions but also how we can care, honour and respect them deeply when they depart. I won’t spoil the story, but the ideas for Cinnamon’s farewell box are beautiful and so inspiring.
Readers both young and old will love this story and the beautiful illustrations that accompany it, weaving together a magical tale of wisdom, love and the knowledge that those we lose are only ever a thought away and that death is the beginning of yet another precious story.
With love,
Felicity ###"

Supporting pet owners

Support & guidance when you need it most

It is a sad fact that when we get a pet we know it is highly likely that we will outlive them, that we will have to see them through the end of their days.

Pets become part of our family, the love we feel for them is powerful, real and needs to be acknowledged in the same way as when we lose a human family member. The grief before (anticipatory grief) and the grief we feel after our pet has died is just as valid and powerful as the grief we feel when we lose a friend or a family member. The grief we feel is made even more complicated and difficult by the fact we often have to make the almost impossible decision of when to have a pet euthanased. Having someone who understands this, who can guide, support and act as a reassuring presence is invaluable.
