Hello! It’s your Mid-Week Dog Tip! To help you and your dog through the week!
Sit-stay is a great place to start when teaching basic obedience, as so much is built off of this command. When teaching sit-stay DO turn your back to your dog so they get used to seeing this. Do NOT do the back up maneuver, as in real life, no humans walk like this 🙃. For example, if you put your dog in a sit-stay to open your front door, they will need to be comfortable with staying put while your back is turned to them. This is a great tool not only for basic manners but also can be a life-saving tool.
I hope this helps! Reach out to book your in-home session 🐶
Nothing better than seeing a old client and helping them get back on track! Bruce 2.0 coming this Fall 🍁🍂
Here’s a look into my training that I do with Pawtastic Friends . We train shelter dogs to help get them ready for their forever homes. It’s a great non-profit that has helped reduce the number of returns after being adopted and provides these dogs with enrichment time so they can get out of their kennels. You can sponsor the dogs training by going to their website, www.pawtasticfriends.com
Working on some resource guarding when it comes to food. Helping get Shakira’s mind mentally focused on the task at hand (puzzle) while keeping everything I’m saying and doing up beat and positive to associate her eating with something happy 😃. I love this dog SO much!
🐶-Shakira is available for adoption or foster with @samadhilegacyfoundation
Zeke came to me, a bit of a wild card. He has bitten some people and clearly thinks he’s the boss. We are working hard on him learning that humans are the pack leaders, which in turn has greatly reduced his anxiety.
His anxiety showed me he didn’t want the pack leader role, as he was failing miserably at it. Now that he knows I’m in charge he looks to me for guidance and has become an overall more well balanced dog!
🐶-he is available for foster or adoption through Animal Network
