The leptospirosis vaccine (or lepto vaccine) is probably one of the more "controversial" vaccines for dogs - mainly because many owners do not think their dog is at risk.

Here is some info from the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) on the disease and how your pet can acquire it:
https://www.avma.org/resources-tools/pet-owners/petcare/leptospirosis

Lepto can be a devastating disease and has zoonotic potential (meaning it can spread to you!). Talk with your vet about your pet's risk and if they should be vaccinated for Lepto!

-Dr. Fitz

Protect your pet against leptospirosis by learning about clinical signs, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.
