Hello AKR!
2025 year has a good start with a number of adoptions and foster arrivals to YVR. We've already posted about our first arrivals in 2025 and here is our update for the last week.
We welcomed three dogs at YVR on January 12: Doosik, now Louis, Parker, now Barker, and Jinju, now Juno!
Barker and Juno were met by their adoptive families and went straight to their new forever homes: Barker now lives in Vancouver and Juno moved to the island. Both dogies are doing really great and already have found their favorite places and persons in the houses 🙂 The families are super happy and so are we! Congratulations to the families and their new furry members and best luck in the future! It will be exciting!
Doosik came as a foster dog to temporarily stay with a foster family of Oliva. But the family fell in love with him in these first days and now he is adopted! This is our first Foster Fail in 2025!!! Doosik's new name is Louis! He is a very smart and loving boy who enjoys car rides and games with the family dogs and is very curious about learning about friends' birds 🙂 The family is teaching Louis new tricks and commands like sit, wait and more. And he looks amazing in his new set of matching clothes bought for him by his mom! Thank you so much to KC and her family for being so great and giving so much love to Louis!

Another exciting year lies ahead! Thank you to all the volunteers who helped match and transport dogs to their forever homes.

We’re thrilled to welcome Clementine (aka Dango), Atlas (aka Tyler), Doudou (aka Yeni), and Piper (aka Chunhyang) into loving families.

Clementine has bonded beautifully with Obi, staying calm and sweet during her journey.

Atlas is thriving, showing his intelligence by confidently leading his new owner home.

Doudou is settling in well, enjoying walks, treats, and warming up to the cat.

Piper is adjusting at her own pace, surrounded by love as her personality begins to shine.

Let's welcome our first new year arrivals in 2025!
Hwani, now Julian, arrived in Seattle on January 1! He is already settling down and getting better every day!
Congratulations and only the best things in the world to him and his new family!
On January 8 three dogs arrivet to YVR: Chacha, now Charlee, Macy and Swiri! Charlee is now with her forever family, Macy is fostered by Cao and Swiri is fostered by Lee!
All three dogs are doing fine and getting to know their families. Please check our for more information about Macy and Swiri!

Happy New Year, AKR Supporters!

We're deeply grateful for your unwavering support and partnership. Your dedication has made a profound impact on the lives of countless furry friends.

Let's meet some of our newest family members!

Hana, the cuddle queen, has stolen our hearts! Her recent vet checkup earned her a clean bill of health. While she's still getting accustomed to the snow and cold, her confidence is growing with each walk.

Roo (aka Olly), now residing in Michigan, is a playful and adventurous companion. Initially hesitant about the snow, he's now embracing winter's wonderland. This intelligent and affectionate boy has already captured hearts.

Jeremy and Bitna arrived just in time for Christmas, on Christmas Eve! Jeremy has settled into his new forever home, while Bitna is being lovingly fostered by Sally You.

Bitna is adjusting well, enjoying delicious meals and playful interactions. Although she's still a bit timid, her curiosity is shining through.

Jeremy is thriving in his new home, thanks in part to his food-motivated nature. With patience and training, he's learning the ropes. His new sister is also helping him settle in.

Thank you for being part of the AKR family and making a difference in the lives of these incredible animals!

Hello AKR!!!
Here is our last update for 2024!
Even during holidays AKR team was busy with organizing new arrivals! We had met three dogs at YVR during the last week of December: Kosomi and Pauline came on December 24 and Coco arrived on December 28.
Kosomi is being fostered and Pauline and Coco are adopted :)
We are happy to hear that both adopted doggies: Pauline and Coco are doing great the first days with their new forever families. Both are not big fans of Vancouver's rain but we know it takes time to get used to :))) Both families are in love with the pups - what a great news to hear!!!
Sweet Kosomi is slowly getting adjusted in her new life: we found that she's never lived in a house and never had a family to call her own! AKR community is hoping that very soon Kosomi will find her forever family and home so she will be happy!!! Her foster family says that Kosomi is a very sweet girl who favors salmon treats a lot!!! Thank you So much to Michelle le and Jonathan Wong for being loving and caring foster pawrents for Kosomi! All news and more details about Kosomi can be found at AKR Adoptable dogs!

Hello AKR!
We have had nine arrivals in the pre-Christmas week!
On December 18 two dogs: Chovy and Hwani arrived at YVR. They are being fostered in Vancouver by the AKR foster volunteers Cassie Cho (fosters Hwani) and Meybelis Chee (fosters Chovy). Both foster families' reports are full of good news: the pups are sweet and full of energy!
On December 19 two flights brought AKR dogs into North America: Miso, now Miso Soomi, arrived in ATL and is now living in Florida. Her new mom adores her and makes sure Miso feels comfortable in the new environment! and we've got a fun fact about Miso already: she likes green grass, her mama says: maybe Miso is a vegetarian?
The other flight came to YVR with two dogs: Sally and Moong. Moong is fostered by Hannah Cherniawsky, and Sally is adopted. Moong is a snuggly boy and he's good with the other dog and already made a friend of his foster furry brother.Sally is a shy pup who is still not 100% sure of her new surroundings. But her family is great as they are very patient with Sally and let her take her time getting used to the surroundings and the family! We appreciate and are grateful for such a family!
On December 20 we also had two flights with AKR dogs: Kiora, now Roo, arrived at LAX. Her new mom made her a Welcome poster showing how excited and happy she was! Roo proved to be a perfect dog for the family: she is very sweet and friendly and once she rested after the flight she felt much better in her new home! Two dogs arrived at YVR: Mary and Ness at YVR. Both are adopted : Mary in Vancouver and Ness is now living on the island! Mary is the second AKR dog in her new forever family and they love her, already spoiling her with a new raincoat :) Though, we all agree that a raincoat IS a necessity in Vancouver for everyone.
December 21 Yiseul in SEA where she was met by her new pawrent. Yiseul is now living in Chicago where she enjoys spending time together with her new friend Dabi.

Please see our arrivals update for the week of December 9.
We were not very busy that week but that made the arrival of the cute Mayo, now Kvothe, even more exciting!
Kvothe arrived at YVR on Wednesday in the welcoming hands of his new forever family. The new pawrents adore Kvothe and go out of their way to make him feel loved and comfortable! He's even got his personal Christmas bandana that fits him perfectly!
Congratulations to Kvothe and his new family! Happy holidays and easy adjustment!

Hello AKR!

Here is our update for AKR YVR arrivals.
Five lovely dogs found their way to Vancouver in the first week of December. We are very happy to announce that all five were adopted and were greeted by their new forever and foster families right at the airport!
Katya arrived on December 4. Her mom had to take a 4 am ferry ridde toso she could meet Katya by herself! Now Katya lives with her new mom in Victoria.
Panda, now Juancho, and Nimo on December 5. Seems that these two poor ups had a rough flight as their pawrents had to clean up their crates and everything that was inside. But it is all over now and the doggies are getting used to their new places and families, humans and other furry siblings. Nimo is on Vancouver Island and Juancho is in Vancouver! Both are doing well after the rest and we are looking forward to hearing more good news and updates from them and their families!
Hamin arrived on December 7. While she looked worried before her fligh she is now safe with her foster family and already started exploring festivities in the neighbourhood! We know that Hamin is in good hands with the experienced foster who already fostered another AKR dog earlier! Thank you to Katrina Oliva for opening her doors for Hamin!!! Delta, now Sundae, came to YVR on December 8. Her family says that she is still a little shy but slowly warming up :). we hope it'll be a quick and easy adjustment!

Hello AKR,
Here is our update for YVR arrivals.
Lucky 5 dogs found their way to Vancouver this week:
Moca, now Fletcher, Hodu and Chichi arrived at YVR on November 25, Chorome flew in Vancouver on November 27 and last but not least, little Jju was welcomed by his family on November 29.
Fletcher and Chichi are adopted and getting used to their new homes and families. We are happy to hear that the doggies are doing well and also glad to hear that their new families understand that it takes time for them to adjust and are very patient with the pups! Fletcher has already visited his dad's office and behaved very well there!While at home he's getting spoiled with the toys and pets! Chichi is a little dog with a big personality :))) and she already picked her favorite human in the family with whom she now spends most of the time! Hodu is fostered by our AKR foster, Trina Ng, and will be staying with her while waiting for his forever family. His foster mom says that Hodu is a very good, almost the perfect dog! We wish Hodu a swift adoption and are very grateful to Trina for opening her home for Hodu! Please check AKR Adoptable dogs for more details about Hodu.
Sweet Chorome, came to Vancouver on November 27. Chorome had to spend long hours in her crate in an airplane due to a bad storm happening in South Korea 🥹 It must felt terrible for anyone but especially for her, because our Chorome doesn't see. her Korean foster and her adoptive family were worried sick about poor Chorome. But it is all good now and Chorome is settling in her nice house with her wonderful people!
Little Jju, now Bean, arrived at YVR on November 29. And he's doing great, already warmed up to his new family! And the family loves him very much which is so nice to hear!!!!
We congratulate all pups and their new humans and wish them a long and happy future together! We are very grateful to our fosters in Korea and all AKR volunteers!!!

Exciting News, AKR Community!

We're thrilled to announce the arrival of our five AKR November rescues in Toronto! Ducku, Soju (aka Heukdang), and Miz arrived on November 14, followed by Teddy (aka Kooro) and Yeowool on November 16.

Ducku is enjoying his new forever home, relishing delicious meals, pets, and cuddles in his cozy bed. Soju is adjusting beautifully, learning to navigate stairs and delighting in car rides. Miz is gaining confidence, exploring his surroundings, and wagging his tail to greet dogs and cats. Teddy has become a velcro dog, lovingly following his mom everywhere. Yeowool is thriving with her foster mom.

We're grateful to our foster families for their patience and care. Thank you to our incredible fosters for opening their hearts and homes to these deserving dogs!

Please join us for the latest update on Vancouver YVR arrivals!
We are happy to share that all five dogs that came last week went straight into the hands of their new adoptive pawrents!!!
Yongyong, now Benny Yongyong, and Maru came on November 18. Benny lives in Calgary and is learning How to live with the snow :))) Good thing he's OK with it :))) His new family is already in love with him and Benny, surrounded by their love, started slowly coming out of his shell!
Maru stays in Vancouver with his new family who, of course, loves him very-very much! He's reported to be a very calm and quiet boy. We are glad to hear that he's doing well getting settled with his new life 🙂
David and Kitty, now Juibilee, arrived at YVR on November 21. They both are staying in Vancouver. David seems to have accepted his new living very quick and is already enjoying his new family and their love! Juibilee was a little shy at the beginning but is now coming out of her crate more often to spend time with her humans :)
Violet was met by her new adoptive pawrents on November 22. Her new family is happy to report that she's doing very well, better than they expected, and we are happy to hear that!!!

Hello AKR!
Here is our update for new arrivals!
Last week the AKR team welcomed Lucy and Jini, who arrived at YVR on November 12!
Both dogs were met by their foster families and AKR volunteers and moved into their temporary homes where they will decompress and start waiting for their forever humans!!!
Jini is being fostered in Nanaimo with the family of Meissa Haley. Our AKR volunteers, Sahsa Idema and Andrew helped to bring Jini to his foster family! It seems that Jini's foster is falling in love with her already and that is not a surprise because of Jini's good nature!
Lucy is fostered by Rojo Catubay in Vancouver. She quickly settled with the foster family and her foster brother. She is just a calm dog who loves food and lounging around :)

Hello AKR,

We are happy to announce the latest arrivals to YVR this week!
On November 7 Ted, who is still Ted or Teddy, came to Vancouver to stay in his new forever home! Teddy is still getting adjusted to his Canadian life. His new dad is doing his best trying to make the transition as easy and smooth as possible! We thank him for that :)))
The last arrival on November 10 was marked with two more pups: Haeri and Lily! Haeri will be staying with her foster family of Hannah Cherniawsky and Lily is adopted and will be settling down in Vancouver. Both dogs are doing well 🙂 They are still a little bit shy with their new people but at the same time cusiours and we keep our fingers crossed that the pups and their foster and new forever families will get comfortable with each other very soon! Haeri has a foster sister, Ellie, who will definitely help with the adjustment! Lily is also doing well with the outside walks on a leash! Hello AKR!
This is a continuation post about the AKR Vancouver arrivals for the first week of November:
On November 4 the AKR group grew by three dogs: Shushu, now Roo, Suni, now Harley, and Buzzy!
Roo was adopted by the family who already had a dog from Korea, our AKR alumni Daisy! Roo is a very human oriented pup, she loooves to be around her new pawrents! Her new sister Daisy also is very good with Roo and allowed her to share her favorite spot on the family couch!
Harley right from the airplane took a long road trip and is now living in sunny California. She is very good with her new pawrents and follows them everywhere :) She is still adjusting to her new life but her new family says she is very brave and is getting much more trusty with her humans and their friends!!!
Buzzy is adopted on Vancouver Island! His family decided to keep his name and we all agree that it fits him very well! Bazzy is doing well! He loves being outside and stays there as long as he can :)
Congratulations to the adopted and their adopters and all the best in their new adventures! Thank you to everyone who made it possible!
