PAWS without Borders/PATAS sin Fronteras Animal rescue between Mexico the US and Canada.

20/02/2021

Hello, I want to take this time to introduce you to my new page and my next project in life. So when I moved to live on the Mexico border I noticed right away a large number of stray dogs and cats on the streets. I quickly found out that Mexico does not have the same laws and regulations on animals as we have in the United States. It was very hard for me and heartbreaking to see so many helpless animals. Only I did not know what to do so I have over the last 9 years adopted many animals and also picked up strays or injured animals and taken them to the Vet for care or later for adoption. Only it never seemed like enough. So last year with the coronavirus and the economic issues the animal problems had grown here and I decided I needed to do something so I found one of the few good rescue shelters here in Matamoros it is called Ayudar y Ayudar Rescatistas Unidos, I started volunteering to take bags of food and to go play with the dogs and to help with rescues when reports were made. In working with this agency, I learned that neither the local nor state or federal government offers any assistance or financial help for the unwanted or abused animals. I also meet two other independent rescuers by the name of Doly CA and Alma. I then found out that they have been working with PAWS R US a rescue agency in Canada that takes the rescued dogs here and finds them forever adoptions in Canada. They also work with another agency that does adoptions in New Jersey named MatchDog rescue. The dogs are transported out of Texas from San Antonio by the Texas Chihuahua Rescue inc.

So once I started to learn all this I didn’t want to overlap or do what is already being done rather I wanted to help fill in any gaps. One area that was in need of help was that sometimes the dogs are in shelters in the Rio Grande Valley and are going to be euthanized because of a lack of space and those dogs need fosters(which are few and far between in the RGV and even less in Mexico) those dogs in the RGV shelter needs transportation for Vet care that is often done in Mexico because of cost. Also, all of the dogs in shelters here or with rescuers or foster need to have a medical clearance they need to be vaccinated, vetted, flea and tick treatment, and spayed or neutered. In addition, if they have any other medical issues or injuries those need to be treated. Then once they are ready, they need to be transported from the RGV to San Antonio for the trip to Canada or to other locations in Texas for trips north.

This is where I come in, I have fostered a few dogs only all of the cost is on the hands of the rescue agency or the shelter. I have also been doing some transportation from the RGV to San Antonio or from Mexico to another Transport with Jaime Bare who also does transports from the RGV. I am not currently a non-profit or 501c but I hope to become one in the next year. So any financial donations made to me at this time are not tax-deductible.
I am asking for any monetary donations be made to me or to any of the agencies mentioned above in the name of PAWS without Borders. Also if you live in this area and would like to be a foster please let me know. If you can help with sending food or supplies that would be great. If you work with or know of any other agency that would like to help be a part of this project let me know.
Most IMPORTANTLY share this with all your contacts anyone that you know or even people you don’t know. Spread the Word to save the life of these innocent fur babies.

Thank you very much,
In loving memory of my son Alex Verde.
