Please Note Well: All curlies descending from dogs bred and/or owned by me are Green Bay Packer fans forever. It is in their genes and cannot be changed.

This means hundreds and hundreds of curlies in the United States will be rooting for the Packers tonight.

The Packer fan gene is an autosomal dominant trait compounded by the fact curlies are extremely intelligent family members who only want to root for great teams owned by their fans!!! The gene variant is the 13WORLDCHAMPIONSHIPS variant and is located on the 36th chromosome, also known as the WICKEDLY SMART chromosome.

This has been a Public Service Announcement on behalf of a lot of curlies who cannot override what Mendel wrought.

Just a quick post because I love this head so much.

The parallel planes, the flat skull, muzzle pretty equal to the back skull, the short ears. Love it, love it. Had to post because I tried to explain flat skull and equal muzzle/back skull to someone and couldn't do it without a picture.

Thanks for all your comments except for the person who called me a puppy mill. I was relaying what someone else said about breeding several litters per year. My last litter was 22 years ago so I don’t think I quite qualify as a puppy Miller. LOL.

I think these are good discussions to have but probably not on this page because pages are public so I will move any discussion like this to this page’s group page.

This was back in the day when there would be about 2 shows per year in the Midwest with a major within driving distance (6-7 hours one way).

Somewhat saddened today to see some of my producing bi***es just be dismissed as contributing nothing to a litter or to a famous curly.

Breed relationship diagram based on mapping the a allele (the recessive black gene) on the A locus. As you can see, our old friend the Irish Water Spaniel is there, along with Labrador and golden retrievers. This result aligns with that of other genetic relationship mapping and with our documentation of both Labrador and golden retrievers having curly coated retriever ancestors.

Note the CCR and IWS connected to the Irish Setter. Probably linked to common ancestors like the retrieving setter and the Llanidloes (Welsh) setter.

I have 4 beautiful Goodwin Champion Dogs embroidered cards for sale. They are $12 a piece plus $3.00 shipping. Would make great dog show prizes as they are new (2017) but will be collectibles in a few short years.

The cards are approximately 2.5 by 3 inches in size. (The size of a common deck of playing cards.) Apparently the patch could be sewn onto a shirt or jacket or whatever. I don't know if anyone has ever tried it, though, because these types of cards turn into collectibles pretty quickly.

History and Education about the Curly Coated Retriever

Planet Curly strives to provide objective, well-researched and up-to-date information about the curly coated retriever. I’ve owned them for 40 years, bred numerous top winning dogs, hunted with them in 2 countries and 7 states, and have had a serious interest in collecting information about them for decades.

Many of the most significant breeders in the United States have dogs I bred as their foundation stock. My purpose for the Planet Curly website was to present ACCURATE information about the history of the breed in the U.S. and ACCURATE information about the history of the Curly Coated Retriever Club of America (CCRCA). As someone who held almost every office in the CCRCA and was a founding member, I believe it is important to get accurate information out there. Luckily, I saved almost every single piece of correspondence I received as an officer, founder, member of the club.
