Hello everyone, happy new year! I noticed in the previous year that our name was tricky to find us, so you may notice the page now goes by Reality Dog Training. In addition to this, we have some fun plans in store ready to make better use of the page moving forward, we have not been very active recently for multiple reasons but we aim to change that in the coming weeks. Thank you all for the support so far!

Apparently there has been a vow to ban the XL bully breed, for those of you who disagree with this and agree it's down to the owners not the breed, here is a link to a very active petition to reject this law.

I believe that the XL bully is a kind, beautiful natured breed that loves children and people in general, and are very loyal and loving pets.

Once again there has been an awful situation involving a dog, and now there are people for yet another ban on a breed, this time the american XL bully. At one point do we have to take responsibility for the dogs we take into our care and realise it's not a breed that makes a dog bad, it's usually outside sources such as owner's, trauma or potentially even health problems.

We are such an uneducated country of dog lovers it blows my mind that people can't see some of these issues.

Please understand I am not trying to make light of a situation or downgrade any sense of severity regarding it, but it is imperative that people realise these are still animals, they do not think like us, and I would say that 99% of problems regarding our dogs is our fault.

I'll say it again, we are a nation of dog lovers, but we are a very uneducated nation of dog lovers.

Just a friendly reminder that while it is hot our four legged friends need cool clean water, and access to shade and good air flow!

Just a friendly reminder that just because we might be able to tolerate 24°C, doesn't mean our 4 legged furry friends can. It's critical to bare in mind what breed of dog you have, your access to cool / shaded areas and clean water. ESPECIALLY if you're walking your dogs in this heat. Don't forget we wear shoes and they don't, and the paths and roads can also get very hot, if it's too hot to touch, it's too hot to walk on. BE A RESPONISBLE OWNER!

Kiri enjoying her training and sharpening up her obedience skills. Remember training isn't just for when there's problems, it can be a fun process which helps build your relationship with the dog, as well as control and confidence for the dog to have a happy life! :)

The "Place" command teaches the dog to go to marked area and remain there until told otherwise. Willow demonstrating this very well for me even with a surprise barking distraction in the background. Pay attention to how calm she is, and her response to the "Break" command which is effectively her "off" button :)

German Shepherds are a very intelligent breed who love to work. Kiri here loves her obedience challenges when out on her walks! It's important for this type of breed to be physical AND mentally stimulated! Excuse the noisy wind!

Here's Willow practicing some heelwork (walking nicely on the lead) and a lil bit of recall to help boost her engagement (paying attention to the handler), very easy exercise which does wonders for controlling our four legged friends!
