Mondays!
One of the most important practices you can do with a horse during a training session is give him what I call “friendly time.” These are periods throughout the training session in which I let the horse walk on a big, loose rein around the arena getting his air back. I don’t ask anything of him; I just want him to chill out and relax.
You don’t want your horse to think that every time you ask him to move forward it means he better be getting ready for you to hustle his feet and ask him to work hard. This isn’t such a big deal with a cold-blooded, lazier type horse – he’s going to want to move slowly no matter what and not anticipate your next cue – but it can be an issue with a sensitive, feely horse.
The more you practice incorporating “friendly time” into your training sessions, the more relaxed and calmer your horse will get. It’s a simple concept, but it’s one that will make a world of difference in your horse’s overall mindset. - Clinton

As we kick start 2023, I’d like to take a moment to thank everyone who trusted me with their goals and dreams in 2022. Working with equines of all shapes and sizes, from mini mules to yearlings to 17 hand halter horses, has been an incredibly enriching experience that I am blessed to enjoy.
I’m excited for the next year and I hope to be able to work with even more horses (er, equines) and riders in 2023- training horses is not a path I thought I would go down, but I am enjoying the ride!

What an exciting final day of Pinto World Show for the crew!
Kasey Herzog won her first world show buckle today- she and Sissy were reserve world champions in the Am Jr WT Horsemanship!
We cannot thank Cara and Chad Christensen enough for allowing us to team up with this incredible mare.
She was also 6th in the Am Jr WT Disciplined Rail Western and 8th in the Am Jr WT Showmanship.
Reagan and Lily were also top 10 in a big, deep class of Am Jr WT Showmanship horses, finishing out the show strong.
This show is a marathon, but we’re glad to be on the last leg!
Big day yesterday!
Reagan and the little Lily that could rocked it in the English classes as the smallest horse to make the top 10 line up in the Am Jr WT English Pleasure and WORLD CHAMPIONS in the Am Jr WT English Equitation!
Then Reagan and Stylz showed to reserve world champion finish in the Am Solid WT English Equitation, making for Stylz’s first world title in the English.
RJ finished off the day reserve champ in the disc toss (much thanks to Kasey’s coaching)!
Kasey and Sissy were the picture of consistency with 6th place finishes in both Am Jr WT English Showmanship and Am Jr WT English Equitation.
Now up and at ’em for showmanship, horsemanship, and discipline rail western!
Stylz is on a mission this show to prove that halter horses DO ride!
He added to his buckle collection by winning the Open Western Dressage Intro Level with Sabine Lazo and earned two solid top 5s in a tough am WT solid division in Discipline Rail English and Ideal Pinto English with Reagan Jennings!
So proud of this team! Kasey really stepped out of her comfort zone and did a bang-up job showing this class on a bang-up little mare 💜
