Thank you to everyone who trusted your horse to us in 2022. We’re proud of all of our world champions and year end winners, but we are equally proud of those small successes- from the first rides to the first shows- of all of our horses and clients.

One of the most important practices you can do with a horse during a training session is give him what I call “friendly time.” These are periods throughout the training session in which I let the horse walk on a big, loose rein around the arena getting his air back. I don’t ask anything of him; I just want him to chill out and relax.

You don’t want your horse to think that every time you ask him to move forward it means he better be getting ready for you to hustle his feet and ask him to work hard. This isn’t such a big deal with a cold-blooded, lazier type horse – he’s going to want to move slowly no matter what and not anticipate your next cue – but it can be an issue with a sensitive, feely horse.

The more you practice incorporating “friendly time” into your training sessions, the more relaxed and calmer your horse will get. It’s a simple concept, but it’s one that will make a world of difference in your horse’s overall mindset. - Clinton

As we kick start 2023, I’d like to take a moment to thank everyone who trusted me with their goals and dreams in 2022. Working with equines of all shapes and sizes, from mini mules to yearlings to 17 hand halter horses, has been an incredibly enriching experience that I am blessed to enjoy.

I’m excited for the next year and I hope to be able to work with even more horses (er, equines) and riders in 2023- training horses is not a path I thought I would go down, but I am enjoying the ride!
