Ohmygosh, between the sweet babes I have that are still up for adoption and the new clutch[😅 there are sooooo many in Pearl's clutch!], plus my other spiders, mantids, beardie, dogs and hooman kids...my plate has been overflowing!! And I still need a new macro lens! Gaaahhh!!! How's summer treating all you lovely folks out there??

Here's one of Sweet Dee's adorable boys that's ready for his forever home! How can you not love that little face?!

Also if you've adopted a baby from me, how are they doing?! Update me and show off pics!! 🖤🕷🖤

Finally posting these 4 bottom opening enclosures! They are all currently available and are meant for adult sized jumpers. I use gorilla weatherproof hot glue, but always advise checking everything every time you mist as humidity levels and water can make the glue lose its strength. I personally do not care for the cure time of e6000 glue and I felt it left a strange lingering odor. I will be making some of the smaller different sized ones soon. Each one of these is put together by myself and I solder the vent holes. $45 Each plus shipping and handling fee if you're out of state. 🌺🏵🌸🌼🌿🕷🖤

Most of Sweet Dee's slings are now i7! Here's some of the females I took pics of yesterday. Still gotta get pics of the boys!

These babes are available for adoption. Local pick up or I can meet you depending on where in MA you are. Working on being able to ship out of state(I need to get packing supplies), its not typically something I was planning on doing, but I'm willing to try. So if you are thinking you'd like one shipped, you'll need to pay for the FedEx shipping fee additionally to the adoption fee [$20]

Each sling comes in the deli cup it's been housed in since being separated. They all have a hatch date and will come with a care sheet guide. 🖤🕷🖤

Hey y'all! Sorry I haven't posted lately I've been pretty busy with Mama Pearl's eggs with legs that have emerged!! Look at all those babes! Typically at this stage they should be getting melanogastar fruit flies but I haven't been able to get any(hopefully I will find some over the weekend) so they're actually getting hydei fruit flies which are a bit bigger, but they're taking them down no problem! Since Pearl had them in her hide I wasn't able to tell if they've had one or two molts but I'm gonna guess and say they are instar 2. Hatch date is a little blurry too bc I couldn't see in the hide, so I'm guessing the exact date on this too but it's roughly around June 3rd. 3 of them tried to escape so that's why they've been moved into a deli cup already! Lol I'm sure I'll be moving all of them soon enough! Looks like I need more cups though, that's alot of slings! [Phidippus regius. Got Mama Pearl on Mother's day from another breeder who couldn't take on any more slings, last two pics are of Pearl, who has safely been moved into a different home from the babies]

📣📣📣During this week I am going to try to take some more pics to upload but until then if you are interested in adopting one of Sweet Dee's slings still, please reach out! They are instar 6/7, meaning how many molts they've had with me so far. The adoption fee is $20 this includes the hatch date, a care sheet and all my spiders are fed prior to pick up. Pick up is in Burlington, MA or we can arrange meeting up depending on the distance. I do not currently offer shipping, but I will be looking into that more as I know the only legal way to ship is via fed ex, and I don't have shipping supplies as of yet.

If you are interested in a Lucas the Spider plush they are still available and are $20 each. These I will offer shipping. Standard USPS shipping fees will apply.

I currently have 4 adult/LG enclosures left. I will post pics as soon as possible. These are also available for shipping. Standard USPS fees will apply. I will list prices with pics, if you're interested before I can upload pics please send me a message.

Finally custom order enclosures. If you want a specific size/theme pls send me a message and we can discuss this further as I'm happy to try making something more catered to your aesthetic! These will also be available for shipping. Standard USPS fees will apply.

Available for adoption next month at the Massachusetts Reptile Expo June 19th

16/05/2022

My beautiful phidippus regius adult male Crowley passed yesterday. I wasn't going to share this here but he was such a sweet gentle boy and although the loss has me feeling a bit heartbroken(I have honestly been sobbing) I thought he deserves to be seen by people that also love these small wonderful creatures. Rest easy my sweet little friend. 💔🖤🕷

I will have some of these slings available to adopt next month at the Massachusetts Reptile Expo-save the date- June 19th Hanover, MA! Along with enclosures! Unfortunately as of right now I won't have the isopods and fff I thought I would have available.

Guys exciting news! First off hope everyone had a Happy Mother's Day. But for the exciting news, I got a new momma spider! She's not dark like Sweet Dee was but look at those gorgeous green/purple chelicerae! She's settling in nicely and I'm excited for her to give me some beautiful babies!

Omygosh guys I have not forgotten about y'all! Both kids have been sick 😫 and I have been a bit run down from the nonstop care I've been giving to them and all my animals of course.
That said please enjoy these latest pics of some of the slings! One enjoyed chasing after my nail polish, which I thought was hilarious and cute! ☺️😆

Hey friends!! Ugh sorry I haven't gone live yet! Forgot when I made my last post that it was Easter weekend/hubs bday...so as you can imagine I was a little busy! I'll add that this page is run only by me and sometimes my life gets a little crazy! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me via message if you have any questions or interest in a sling or enclosure!

Along with making enclosures and caring for these little slings and I'm a mum of 2 kids, 3 dogs, a bearded dragon, 2 mantids, 3 other jumping spiders and the new clutch that is almost ready to leave the nest! So just know that sometimes things get wild over here and I don't always get to be online as much as I'd like to, but I always answer messages and I always try to keep this page updated!

I can now s*x most of the slings(def the bigger i5 ones like below!)
The one pictured below is a "dude spood" aka male! Male phidippus regius will always be black and have green chelicerae(fangs) whereas the females can vary in color from white to black to orange and tan and usually have chelicerae that have a pink/red/purple hue, sometimes they can have a blue green chelicerae. This is specific to the regius species. Please note this is not a true way of s*xing other jumper species. Usually the best way to tell is when they are fully mature but I'm fairly certain I'm correct in my s*xing of them.

As mentioned in prior post, s*xing adults is easier as you can tell the males from females by their pedipalps and the female epigynum.

How cute is this guy cleaning himself?! 🖤🕷

So many slings have molted into i5! Look at these cute molts!!!! I love how you can see the details in their old hats! (...

So many slings have molted into i5! Look at these cute molts!!!! I love how you can see the details in their old hats! (I like to think of their molts as old clothes so often you'll see me refer to the head molt as an old hat! 😆)

I'm going to try🤞 to go live at some point tomorrow just to say hi and let you have a peak at the slings!!! 🖤🕷

Hello friends! Hope everyone had a great weekend! Here's a couple shots from yesterday, the last pic I was able to s*x that little guy!

Sexing Phidippus regius is done a few different ways. When they're younger the chelicerae color are a good tell.
Phidippus regius males will always have green/blue chelicerae (fangs) whereas the females will have red/purple/pink variations. This is not true for other species. For example Phidippus audux aka bold jumpers both female and male can have green/blue chelicerae.
As they get bigger and older you can tell by the pedipalps. The pedipalps are the shorter appendages by the chelicerae. In males this is where the s***m is stored so as they mature the males look almost like little boxing gloves whereas females do not bulge at the end.
Finally a mature female will have an epigynum, which is the external ge***al structure of female spiders. It looks similar to a belly button on their underside.

Had a sweet little photo op with this lil guy/gal!(Still too early to s*x) How sweet is that little face?!
The last two pics are of one of the slings and their molt! (I5) Many of larger slings are also about to molt!

Molting can be a stressful time. You'll notice your sling is ready to molt after fattening up and building a thick hammock. They will retreat into the hammock during premolt/molt. They will not eat during this time. Please do Not try to push them out of their hammocks(rude!) Or expect to handle them while they are in premolt/molt/immediate postmolt. Humidity needs to be up to help them molt properly(I achieve this by misting twice a day instead of once). Once the molting process itself is done-which if you get to see is pretty amazing to watch- they will stay in their hammock for a day or two after while their exoskeleton hardens. During this time do not feed. Their chelicerae(fangs) aren't quite hard yet and can break. So I like to wait until they come back out of their hammocks before I feed them(about 3 days). Also a freshly molted spider can be more vulnerable making them not themselves for a couple days! But have no fear, they know what they're doing.
It is really important that you mist them daily throughout this process. I think most mismolts happen from lack of humidity, though occasionally I have heard of jumpers molting outside of the hammock. When they are back out and about I like to feed them a waxworm as a treat and to help fatten them back up(sometimes they come out on the skinny side, it's alot of work to shed those clothes!)
🖤🕷🙃

A sneak peak at another enclosure-I still need to do the vent holes but wanted to show the cute window I put in this one 😍💟 (I know my pic quality is poor right now I need to find a way to get a good pic without glare every time lol I don't have one of those ring lights)

Again you could add substrate to any of my enclosures if you wish. I just personally do not use any substrate for cleaning and allergy purposes (I recommend pet grade sphagnum moss which you can usually find at petco, petsmart or a local reptile shop) Moss will hold the humidity better but you do not want it moist without drying in between or you could risk mold.

Your spidery friend (if you're new to the hobby) will need a daily fine misting(you can usually find a fine mist spray bottle in the health and beauty section or on Amazon). I recommend spraying on the front side of the enclosure, where there is nothing glued. The glue is weather-proof, however over time it may weaken if you're spraying it every day, which is why you should always double check the stability of everything glued weekly if you are accidentally spraying something.

🙃🖤🕷

I still need to add vent holes but I really like how this one came out! 🌹🌺🌸🕷💚

On a much happier note, the slings are doing fantastic! I'm so proud of these little chonks! They currently eat hydei flightless fruit flies with no problem! I can tell they are gonna be fierce like their mama! ❤️‍🔥

Let's talk feeders.🍴🍴🍴 Most feeders are available at your local reptile shop or you can buy them online and have them shipped.

When they're small like this flightless fruit flies are perfect. So there are two types available,
Melanogaster(smaller) or hydei

When they get to be juvenile/subadult(I'd say around i6-i7) you can upgrade to bigger prey.
This can be blue bottle flies, or spikes(larvae)
Black soldier flies or spikes,
Xsm/sm dubia roaches,
Xsm/sm red runner roaches(careful with these guys if they get out they will infest an area),
Occasionally a waxworm for a treat-bc they are very fatty like McDonald'sfor your spider-alternatively you can keep the waxworms until they turn to moths and then feed those. 🪰

My personal choice is the dubias. I just find them to be easier to deal with. If they aren't moving enough for your spider flip it on its back and viola! Lol. 🪳

If you have no other option, sm mealworms or pinhead crickets can work, but both of these are in my opinion risky choices. Both mealworms and crickets can bite back and injure your spider if you aren't careful about watching them eat it. Crickets are also dirty escape artists. There is no way of controlling that. There will always be one that gets out! And they're noisy! 🦗
