Sometimes it’s all about perspective. It’s the view for me. One summit down another to go. The drone footage just hits different.

Lameness (limping) can be caused by the following :
Trauma( muscle sprain, blunt trauma, Etc)
Infection (bacterial/fungal/tickborne)
Broken nail
Foreign body penetration
Fracture
Cranial Cruciate ligament tear or rupture
Medial patella luxation
Arthritis
Neoplasia (cancer)
And more….
However, today we mention one that has become more common. One that can even happen from just slipping on the floor. A Cranial Cruciate is one of many ligaments that helps stablize the knee (stifle) which may have you considering surgery. Have your vet assess the limb that seems to be in pain. If confirmed just know the opposite limb can result in the same.
Things that can confirm why your pet is limping!
Cranial Drawer sign of the knee ( which you see in the video) Knee moving forward!
Tibial thrust
Holding hindlimb up, difficult to bear weight, toe-touching
X- rays*****
Treatment can typically result in surgery ,but pain management is a must. Going with out ehhh I wouldn’t trust.
Pain management
NSAIDs (discuss with your vet)
Gabapentin (discuss with your vet)
And more…
Joint supplements
Omega 3 FA (Rx Vitamin EFA, Welactin)
Glucosamine Supplementation (Dasaquin, Cosequin)
Rest Rest Rest with anxiety medication (for the hyper ones) to consider!
Speak to your vet about what’s best approach for your pet. Just don’t let it go unnoticed leaving your furry friend in pain and upset.
P.S. there is more information available to find out so be sure to ask your vet if this pertains to your pet!

Dental health is real and it can play a role in how your pet feels. So listen up, here is the deal. There have always been questions about how to keep your pets teeth from looking atrocious. Well take a play out of my book, Chef Halitosis. Pet parents often find themselves at a loss when it comes to how to keep their pets’ teeth clean. Here are some simple ways to keep the tartar at a minimum so when they smile their teeth bling.
1. Start early and get them used to you touching their face
2. Manually brush their teeth
3. Not all pets will be compliant so other options to consider would be Kongs, Nylabones, Greenies, and CET treats to name a few. Avoid rawhides as they can be a cause of intestinal obstruction (foreign body) or cause intestinal upset leading to runny or no boo boo
4. Pay attention to discoloration (typically brown in color)
5. Know the difference between dry and wet food as they can effect the accumulation of tartar.
6. If your pet is not eating, check to see if it is a dental issue
7. Check with your vet about grading your pet’s teeth from 1 to 4.
Dental disease can look like:
1. Accumulation of tartar
2. Bad breath (halitosis)
3. Broken tooth/teeth
4. Excessive drooling
5. Reluctance to eat, especially dry food, or to play with chew toys
6. Chewing with or favoring one side of the mouth
7. Pawing at or rubbing the muzzle/mouth
8. Bleeding from the mouth/inflammed gumline
9. Loss of symmetry of the muzzle and/or lower jaw
10. Swollen/draining tracts under (or in front of) the eye
11. Inability to open or close the mouth
12. A mass/growth in the mouth
The common fear is general anesthesia which is always a risk no matter the age. But if your pet develops chronic dental disease it can also result in end stage(☠️). Bacteria accumulates and gets into the blood stream. Can attack multiple organs which is no good, you know what I mean. The most imperative thing is to speak to your vet about the process of dental cleaning and what’s best
A tip for the upper lip!! 🤐
A home visit isn’t always about wellness. They also are meant for the ill. This young cat here had a meaaan upper lip. I can only imagine how she feels. It was inflamed and ulcerated which Im sure made her upset and in pain. Healing by my medical knowledge is what I claim. This visual that you see is known as “Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex .” An immune mediated disease (commonly a type of allergy) that cats can get. Internally the body is fighting itself, this is how they get sick. An inflammatory response is to follow leading to these lesions you see above. With an anti-inflammatory injection and antibiotic we made sure to give her some love . This little gal was fiesty and I can only imagine why. Good thing is, it took 2-3 (treatment can vary case by case) weeks for her upper lip to return back to normal. With no hesitation she kissed that thing bye bye bye!
My recommendation is to speak to your veterinarian if this problem arises so that they can properly diagnose , rule out other diseases, and treat accordingly. Thank you , and see you on another epsiode of “ What is going on here”

Thank goodness for the work rescues do. It takes a community to help save the lives of furbabies from those who care and mean it too. Before finding good fosters and amazing homes for these pets. They alway’s need to be checked out by a vet. Many asked what a mobile appointment looks like. Well let me show you how it’s viewed through my eyes!
