Charley girl provided us four beautiful litters of pups. We attempted to move on with Lainey but Mother Nature didn’t comply.

I have also decided to retire, with Charley.

Five and a half years old, has eaten the same food since she was 8 weeks old, but she now has allergies 🤦🏽‍♀️ Seems that, like humans, allergies can come out of nowhere. Can be food, environment, etc.

Charley will now get cytopoint (allergy) shots 🥴 and, to my PawTree families, I am switching Charley to the salmon formula 🤷🏻‍♀️

Can we get to reform pet food as well? Asking for a friend 😛

Well, it’s taken me 3 days to post. We have, again, failed at breeding Lainey.

There is something with the Bernese Mountain Dog (the breed as a whole)…they are notoriously hard to breed, and they have short lives. The Bernedoodle, IMO, is an attempt to widen the gene pool and extend their life expectancy, among other things.

I can only assume the berner trait of infertility is strong in Lainey. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Now the debate begins. To spay and cut my losses, which was my initial knee jerk reaction, or try, just one more time (as many of my mentor breeders have been suggesting)

This was a hard hit for me. When your intention is to do things “by the book”, the financial, time, travel, planning, and emotional investment is large🐾

Very thankful for my breeder friends & mentors. Knowing you’re not alone lessens the sting…a bit.
