🐺 GRASS SEED SEASON!
🐺 I noticed a firm and pussy lump on Mars's stomach a few days ago. I shaved the hair around the lump and disinfected the area daily, but the lump was not shrinking or improving.
🐺 We made the vet trip this morning, and they knew right away that it was a possible grass seed.
🐺 Grass seeds continue to borrow deeper into the body and can become lodged in organs if not detected early.
🐺 They must be removed, so when in doubt, get to your vet.
🐺 Massive shout out to the team at the Chandlers Hill Veterinary Clinic for taking great care of my boy and successfully removing the demon seed!
🐺 Check your dog's after walks, and when in doubt, get to your vet.
🐺 Mars is now on antibiotics and is recovering well at home.
🐺 New trick with Mars!
🐺 The end goal is to have Mars back up onto a wall or vertical surface and do a hand stand.
🐺 We have been working on this for a few weeks now, starting with a tiny step, then adding height slowly.
🐺 Toys can be used as reinforcers for behaviour.
🐺 Vinnie, the blue heeler, joins us for boarding this weekend
🐺 He gets very erratic when the ball is presented.
He struggles to think clearly, so I'm working on slowing his brain down. Practising stillness, eye contact, quiet, and impulse control before I release the ball to him.
🐺 Working on Mars position transitions.
🐺 Sit/Down/Stand

🐺 Add training into your daily walks and keep pushing to gradually increase distance, duration, and distraction to all of your commands.
🐺 Remember, if your dog can not recall on the first command, they should be leashed. Train for off leash freedom to give your dog the life they deserve.
