The Silver Laced Wyandotte! 🖤🤍🐓⁣

Silver Laced Wyandottes are the original Wyandotte variety, and a wonderful example of American breeding. They are beautiful and productive.��Wyandottes are a favorite amongst backyard flock owners for their dependable egg laying, easygoing nature and cold-hardiness. ⁣
⁣
Each feather is silvery white edged in beetle black, similar to Silver Sebrights. The hens look as if they're ladies dressed for a fancy ball! The Wyandotte roosters have the same laced feathers, but their hackles and capes are composed of glimmering silver, like a suit of armor. ⁣
⁣
Wyandottes have a heavy body, which makes them a great dual purpose choice, and small rose comb, which makes them perfect for cold climates because they are not prone to frostbite. The hens are hardy, energetic, and faithful layers and are recommended as one of the best breeds for beginners.⁣

Our Marans are bred chiefly for egg color, with an additional view toward hardiness and the breed standard. You can expect your Black Copper Marans to lay an egg anywhere from dark brown, to deep reddish-brown, to medium brown with many dark speckles. 🤎🥚

Marans make wonderful pets, too - they are hardy, calm and quiet, and bear confinement well. They are said to be good foragers without being too destructive to your garden.

The Blue Lace Red Wyandotte!💙❤️🐓

This is a cool and rare variety of Wyandotte that is fairly new in the United States.��Wyandottes have a heavy body, which makes them a great dual purpose choice, and small rose comb, which makes them perfect for cold climates because they are not prone to frostbite. The hens are hardy, energetic, and faithful layers and are recommended as one of the best breeds for beginners.��Please Note: Due to the genetics of the blue plumage color, the “blue” in the blue lacing will actually be what’s known as BBS, which means blue, black and splash. When breeding blue to blue, you end up with a mix of 50% blue, 25% black and 25% splash.

Swedish Flower Hens or Blommehöna are one of our favorite breeds that don’t get much attention—and not all are hens! That’s just the literal translation of the Swedish breed name.

Swedish Flowers are beautiful, cold hardy, friendly, and they lay a cream-colored to pale brown egg. They’re gaining popularity with some very dedicated breeders, and we’re very happy to be able to offer this lovely breed!

🎉🥳 Let’s Celebrate Our Breed Of The Week!!! The White Crested Duck!

The White Crested is a classic duck breed, having records of its existence as early as 1660 due to its presence in paintings by the Dutch painter Jan Steen. The Crested duck was admitted into the American Registry in 1874.
The White Crested weighs 6-7.25 lbs, and is an excellent breeder. The female lays 100-130 extra large, mostly white eggs. A small percentage may be tinted, blue, or green.

The males and females are entirely white including the crest on their head, and they have blue eyes, yellow bills, and light orange shanks and feet.
Not all White Crested hatch with a crest, but we only sell the ones that do, and although we only have White Crested breeders, we occasionally hatch other crested ducks such as the Blue Swedish, Rouen, or Buff. If you’re into showing your fowl, any duck breed with a crest can be shown in the Crested class!
Our ducks will fully integrate with all the other breeds that we offer. If you want purebred ducklings hatching from your ducks, make sure you separate your ducks by breed during the mating season. Or you can let your ducks cross and see what different shapes and colors you will get with their ducklings.

Did you know in French, "Mille Fleur" translates as "Thousand Flowers"? A poetic name appropriate for such magnificent plumage.
The Mille Fleur pattern of the d'Uccle breed consists of a base of warm mahogany feathers, each one marked with a black crescent moon and tipped with a gibbous silver spangle.
Picture yourself holding your soft little bearded, booted Mille Fleur hen: The overall effect is that you are bearing a tiny bouquet of cheery flowers or a collection of sparkling stars! 💐 ✨
