⭐⭐⭐WOW WOW WOW!!!!⭐⭐⭐ 😭🥰
Absolutely overwhelmed with everyone who shared & donated with our restocking post about the flooding!!
ENORMOUS thank you to Lisa, Robert, Hannah, Lucy & Mel, Kosta, EJ, Donna, Wendy & NJ Domestics 🥹⭐ since our plea a WHOOPING £125 has so generously arrived in our PayPal and bank accounts! Thank you so, so much!!
Over the past few days temperatures have reached -5° overnight. The flooding is still very much there only now it's frozen over with 4" of snow covering in most parts- the extra cosy bedding & ground protection is absolutely essential as you can imagine 🥶❄️⛄🌬️
The ducks and gulls are not too impressed either with their pond being totally inaccessible, so carrying (((whilst trying not to slip - I suppose that'd be CCTV You've Been Framed worthy 🤪))) many watering cans so they can continue natural behavior is also very fun with the hose obviously frozen too. Not to mention replenishing drinking water as they freeze over during the day 🤪
Thank you all again & lots of love.... Who else is excited for summer?! 😂🌞💛🥹

PS. please remember to put out fresh water and food for our wildlife, they are struggling too ❄️

To say the past few days have been none stop would be an understatement 😬 we've not had flooding like this in 3 years. We have been flooded many times in their communal free range gardens but never to the extent that each of their housing has been waterlogged 😫. Over the next few days as the snow and ice start to thaw, sadly the flooding will get worse...
We've had to use our whole month's supply of shavings, chippings & straw to ensure everyone has safe, dry living environments. We will be heading to Leighs feed store tomorrow to restock... Again...

We hate to ask for help in general, especially so soon after Christmas... if you would like to help us restock, please find our PayPal details below 😣💛🙏🏻

Apparently, that white stuff is a big issue for the humans 😅🥰
All is calm and well for our animal friends... Us on the other hand, we are still thawing out our fingers, toes & ears... Hot coffee then back to it 😅🫣🤗

Our NYE probably looks different to the majority 🥰
Benjamin started showing signs of slowing down. He's a grand age now and has way surpassed the average rabbit's life expectancy so we're obviously even more hyper vigilant with any changes in his behavior, eating, drinking and body condition. After several check overs & communication with experts there were no obvious signs but did notice he'd freeze still with the fireworks! His brother passed away a few months ago and they were truly each other's comfort, their bond was the strongest I've ever seen 🥺💔 we spent the evening full of distractions, treats and cuddles until he curled up in his bed and snoozed the night away... The next morning his usual hoppy, happy snuggly self was back to normal & as I type he's flopped out on my lap with nudges when I'm slacking in the head rub department 😉😅
Rabbits should never be kept alone, we 100% know and understand this as an absolute bare minimum for a rabbit's best interest. (I could go into length about the rest!) With Benjamin's age and personality taken into consideration - the bonding process can be stressful for them and take a considerable length of time. To bond Benjamin in this time of his life with a younger bunny would inevitably leave another bunny grieving and Benjamin not a happy bunny in his golden time 😔
Animal rescue is HARD and the brain never stops worrying, not just in the ways people might think. EACH and every life that lives alongside us their care is personally centered to them. Another reason why we must be particular with who we can help at this stage of our sanctuary to fit harmoniously with each animal residing here. We'd truly help them all if we could. We'd have as many custom built homes/ living environments for ALL of the animals.... If we could 💛😔
⭐ ⭐ Anyway, I forgot to say wishing you all very happy new year and to thank you for your love and support, we see you & appreciate you immensely 🥰💛⭐⭐

We sincerely wish and hope you all have had a very merry Christmas & taking this opportunity to thank each and every one of you all who have been there for us during 2024, in one way or another 🎄 as with the majority of sanctuaries, the holidays don't stop sanctuary life....Sadly, on boxing day night early hours of 27th, we lost one of our eldest girls, we knew her time to leave the world was coming and in preparation, she slept that night with her family free from pain 😔 it has brought comfort to us at least that she was able to spend her last years with us in peace, free from where she once was. Pablo has mourned for her as have the others. I wish I could say this gets easier.. it never does 💔

While we've been away from social media, it's been extremely humbling to know that people were still thinking about us and coming to visit ⭐ we've many people yet to thank for their acts of kindness...
This one is specifically for Tom at Longton Lane Community Primary School and our neighbor & local cllr Ann Daniels for the fruit, veggies and liaising with Tom on our behalf 💛The crows especially enjoy their apple & pair "kebab ropes" we make from them. Thank you!

🤍 Realising you lovely lot have never been formally introduced to Opal 🤍
Opal has never known anything but love, which isn't something I can say often about the animals who find their way here.. Opal's story is tragic to say the least. One night, a fox sadly found their way into the coop after determined rigorous attempts... Opal's survival mode kicked in and she managed to wedge herself to safety. She witnessed her family being taken 💔 Opal's mum was utterly distraught and in utter shock herself, she bought Opal for assessment, (we had been speaking a few weeks prior about something else) thankfully Opal managed to protect herself well and, she escaped with minor injuries to her comb, eye and ear but was deeply in shock. Dazed and confused she was reluctant to eat and drink independently, as the days passed with assisted feeding that glimmer of sass and abundant confidence was making it's way back. We're so proud of you Opal 🥹. She certainly keeps us on our toes and is without a doubt the most adventurous her there ever was 😂🤍💛

I'm just "attempting" to clean the day runs with Opal's assistance of course, which led to me remembering you've not had the pleasure of meeting her properly yet 😊

There are many beautiful parts about wildlife rehabilitation that outweigh the bad, sad and stressful times.... This for me, tops it so far...
I'd not seen Sonic for 5 weeks! Slowly he'd spend an extra day or so elsewhere over a few weeks after release. Obviously always try to think positive but there is always that ni**le that he'd been hurt in some way and we're forever worrying about all of them after release.
Ohh how I jumped for joy! He spread his wings out and bobbed his head towards me! He knows (well they all do 😅) there's forever a safe space, water & food waiting for them, however long they explore the world for.
Depending on who visits I know what treat to grab asap 😅

We're extremely grateful to St Matthew's Centre Your Local Pantry for donating all of this incredible food for our animals... WOW!! 🥰🤩😍
They do incredible work for the local community. Selflessly, exhausting work ensuring no food goes to waste that otherwise would end up in landfill!
We've had some very happy animals this morning, and a warm glow in our bellies knowing what you do for all. Thank you 💛

Good afternoon friends 😊 apologies for our 2 months of social media absence. I can safely reassure you all that we have been just as busy as usual, if not even more so 🫣😅 the break was merely to give ourselves time to breath, concentrate on our sanctuary residents, animals in rehab, family and other commitments we have within animal rights...

Also, being totally transparent, the break was induced by some rather unpleasant messages and tags. We are only human and can only do what we can to help the general public with sick and injured animals. We are not a charity with unlimited funds nor volunteers, we're just 2 individuals doing what we can, when we can 😔 Foremost "Pablo's Place" has been operating years before we decided to share the animals stories with the world. Several attempts to essentially guilt trip us " it's gonna die now because of you" are extremely upsetting. We do remain closed for any in takes until further notice. Thank you for understanding 🙏🏻

On a lighter note, we were extremely lucky to not have any major structural damage to any of our enclosures during storm Darragh , minus 2 posts, which was due to gusts under the tarp! That was fun climbing ladders during 70mph winds 🥴🤪 It didn't however halt running around every 2 minutes ensuring everyone was super snug and safe and tending to minor damages as preventative measures!

On a last note, please keep your eyes peeled for upcoming posts, we're still very much in need of fundraising and we believe the goodies we've got will certainly have you covered for the perfect Christmas gifts for the animal lovers in your lives 🥰💛
Much love, from all at Pablo’s Place - Garden Sanctuary

Elvis's friendly reminder to eat your vegetables 🦎😁
Elvis has spent a period of time in brumation - it's safe to say he's regained his appetite along with his energy.
*Must remind myself to tie my hair up the next time he makes a Beeline for my head* 😅

Mr Kim 🥰 I've met a few cockerels in my lifetime but I've never met a gentleman quite like Mr Kim! Sometimes he spends his day following me around while I'm doing jobs, always so intrigued in what I'm doing, he's so gentle and absolutely adorable. He's our BFG roo 🥰

We have some beautiful news for you, friends 💛🕊️
My goodness these little ones were a massive challenge on top of our already busy sanctuary and rehabilitating... We did it!
Stay safe, fly free 🥹💛🕊️ I'll post links in the comment section for those who do not know their story 💔
Safe Haven Wildlife Sanctuary forever grateful for your dedication and fundraising to get ALL of the gulls to safety 🕊️

You know that old saying "nice weather for ducks"? ..It wasn't just the 24hr torrential rain that saw them wagging their tails during the flood in sheer happiness, the aftermath is equally as nice, apparently 😂🥰

String foot pigeon- this isn't technically the worst case we've dealt with but the damage from just a few strands as seen here can easily cut blood circulation and lead to limb loss. This poor chap has been walking around with his toe tied up to his ankle for a while which has now led to bumblefoot too. There is much, much more to this little chaps story, he's very lucky to be alive, so for now he's having pain relief and a course of antibiotics

Weather? What weather 🤣
