It's with an extremely heavy heart to announce little Gill has passed away 💔... It took her a few weeks to warm up to her new living arrangement, but as soon as she sussed out that she literally had me wrapped around her little, tiny finger she'd have all the fuss & tasty treats going 🥹 Gill and her sister Regan arrived at Pablo's place last summer, within a few days of arrival they had their own penthouse and garden constructed. The previous humans too adored Gill and Regan and had actually found them both dumped in an alleyway many years ago 😭
It does bring some comfort to know Gill was a happy little pig, she passed in her favourite sleeping spot from old age. Goodnight sweet girl 💛🌈

Little Dotty, who is the tiniest little one is really coming out of her shell. She was the biggest concern upon arrival, she still is but seeing her thrive and is actually being one of the first into the food 🥣 now.... 😅🤗💛

Gulls were a little miffed that their pond had been blocked off since the heavy snow fall- it just wasn't worth any risk of the little ones getting stuck short in the uncovered area!! All ice has now been smashed up and removed from the water as we're not expecting any more for a few days... Happy gulls once again 💛

Our beautiful free flyers... I say "our" very loosely 💛 they came for soft release several months ago then decided to not use the aviary any longer and joined the local flock but they still visit several times a day for food and water 💛 aren't they the most beautiful!?

A story that didn't end as well as we hoped 💔
Sunday morning we noticed this young one looking extremely poorly. Our attempts at catching didn't go as smoothly as we would have liked so set several humane traps in a desperate attempt to contain him.... He managed to evade the traps for 3 days. We finally caught him on Tuesday afternoon. It soon became aparant why he'd not found the traps full of food, he was totally blind with infections in both of his eyes and ears 😔
We rushed him onto a heated pad and gave pain relief and started antibiotics.
He spent the rest of Tuesday and all of Wednesday extreamly lethargic and sleepy but by Wednesday morning he seemed to be improving, much more feisty and bitey while trying to administer meds, which he seemed to actually enjoy, grabbing the syringe and pulling it to his mouth after the first taste. A quick check on him prior to preparing Wednesday evening's meds and he was still the same, turning his head and shuffling around when the light went on but going back to administer meds just fifteen minutes later we found he had sadly passed 💔🌈
we had such hope for him, especially when he was showing signs of improvement which, unfortunately must have only been due to the pain relief 😔
We take comfort in knowing he was warm, safe, comfortable and on pain relief in his final hours but wish we could have got to him earlier when he would possibly have had more of a chance of recovery 😔

Update on our The Liver Gulls - Liverpool Seagull Rescue & Rehabilitation little gang... Through a slight delay getting the enclosure finished (with the wrong mesh being delivered) they spent the first night in their new shed last night.

Today, Everybody has had a swim, discovered the hidey holes stuffed with shavings & straw to dry off and keep warm. We've totally packed their dry/weatherproofed area with soft shavings to keep their little feet as dry as possible, as unfortunately several little ones have bumblefoot.

Since taking this video more of their space has been altered and a tonne of bark is on its way for mud control. They are currently tucked away for the night until the predator proofing is 100% complete. Our main goal is to ensure they thrive as much as possible with the view of release as and when they are ready to fly the nest. We've several more months ahead of us for the majority, potentially another year to ensure their feather condition is tip top...

If you're unfamiliar with their story, or would like to help us help them on their journey please take a moment to read https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=700038595562046&id=100066677360985

Elvis, meet everyone - everyone, meet Elvis 🦎
In true Pablo's place style, Elvis is having his new pad being constructed where he'll have several levels to climb and explore, it'll be ground level so he can come and go out of his toasty warm quarters at ease.... ( we'll sleep one day 😅)

Just over a week ago a small team of us attended the very upsetting situation that had arisen at The Liver Gulls - Liverpool Seagull Rescue & Rehabilitation - we currently have 17 of the gulls here in our care.

This past week has been a rollercoaster getting their new enclosure built - the weather has not been in our favour but we're glad to announce they will be moving out of the temporary quarantine space to their new enclosure tomorrow, to begin the next several months of rehabilitation ahead of them. It's been extremely difficult for us, getting things into place at such short notice, but of course it's been worth every second.

We hope they'll be as excited to explore their new home as we are and have a splashing time in their new pond!

💛 It's not just us who have been extremely busy- every single person involved has 💛 behind the scenes there has been intensive liaison, travelling across the country on 16 hour drives taking some to their new forever homes in sanctuaries, the individuals who have juggled everything to bring little souls into their own homes, the most amazing vet treating and operating in their own time, volunteers continuing to ensure Liver Gulls last few remaining residents are kept warm & dry, providing food and water every day as they await transportation to their new homes. Each and every person has dropped everything to ensure the best outcome.

Yet, there is still a lot to do - there is more travelling ahead on several journeys and of course continuous treatment for the gulls that need it... Not forgetting the copious amounts of food that will be needed for them.

Our plea for help continues - please click on the link below to see the beginning of the gulls new journey and the PayPal link if you wish to help. Any welcome donations will go towards their ongoing food, accomodation and transport costs 💔 💛

A truly heartbreaking situation for all involved... 😔
We currently have 17 of these little babies in our care. They are all comfortable, warm with full little bellies. We've already begun to build a larger run and enclosure for them as they'll be with us for several more months. Please, read the post below from Safe Haven Wildlife Sanctuary 🙏🏻💛

Sr Honkers and Morty hope you've all had a wonderful Christmas 💚 their brother Rick's bone infection has healed but still a little unsteady on his foot so is having a very slow introduction back with the boys, so far so good but as always we'll be keeping a very close eye on them.

As usual, the humans are rubbish at social media updates.... NY resolutions and all that jazz 🙈

It's never a quiet day at Pablo's Place, but today was quite the exception. A lovely local who was extremely concerned about an exhausted badger who'd found themselves stuck in her garden reached out for help. Luckily a couple of our animal rescue friends managed to get there quickly to rescue her and took her to the amazing wildlife friendly vet Medivet (HESWALL) Fortunately her injuries are superficial, mostly her claws from trying to get out of the garden, with the vetanarty advice, she just needs a few days to rest and recoup her energy and for us to monitor her wounds for any signs of infection. Massive thank you to the ones who went out to rescue her.

She's currently sleeping in a soft bed of straw here with us and being monitored on camera so not to disturb or distress her more than necessary... Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be an all you can eat buffet until she's ready for release 🦡

Tonight we said goodnight to beautiful Molly for the final time 💔
After being genetically modified, born into the egg industry and a life of unimaginable cruelty and suffering, she was manipulated into laying all of her eggs in a very short space of time. Like all animals, hens are born with all of the eggs they will ever lay and should only lay between 10 and 15 a year. Manipulated by the industry into laying daily takes a terrible toll on their little bodies, not to mention the squalid and inhumane conditions even so called "free range" hens are kept in. After just 18 months they are discarded, usually bald, injured and traumatised into the cheap meat industry.
Fortunately for Molly she passed through several hands before finding her way to pablos place for her retirement. Sadly, the damage had been done and she was old before her time. The toll of daily egg production had done irreversible damage to her little body and although she spent a little more of her life happy with the rest of the flock than neglected and exploited in an overcrowded barn she was taken from us at a quater of the lifespan she could have expected without the abuse of the egg industry 😔

Gill & Regan the guinea pigs have had another extension built today to access their garden more easily, the first ramp was a tad too steep but now they can access much easier… the ground was wet so unfortunately got a bit muddy while I was working on it but can sort that for them soon 🙂

Louie & Luna 🧡💛🩶
I don’t think I’ve posted about these 2 cuties before on this page….
Little Luna cockatiel was an impulse purchase from a pet shop after the buyer thrifted a cheap (small) cage, they had her for 2 weeks 💔
Little Louie was found in a car wash car park and extremely lucky he survived. As little as they are they have huge personalities and very adventurous! My house plant addiction has been whittled down massively to bird safe plants only in their room 😅

Rick has been through quite the ordeal. We initially thought he’d hurt his leg from jumping out of the vegetable garden fencing after eating all the lettuce. If that were the case he’d be a lot better than he is doing now after his medication, hydrotherapy and therapy chair.
Unfortunately it’s possible that Rick has bone cancer. We’re trying him on another course of antibiotics to rule out a deeper bone infection. Either the possible cancer or infection has affected his hock joint. We are obviously devastated that his prognosis isn’t looking very promising. In the meantime of his final course of antibiotics and continued pain relief, love and all the best treats we’re keeping everything crossed for him. 😔

If you’d like to help with our ongoing vet bills it’d be very much appreciated 💛 https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=T56UQYA8N9HV4

The chickens have had an extension to their run this week and in the process of a new coop being built thanks to an extremely kind donation of a new shed!! The run was of a substantial size already but I wanted to add some extra tunnels and shelters for the winter. I’ve made some extra hide away places, sheltered dust baths and some raised mesh beds so the grass will keep growing beneath them. Also added the tall kale plants for extra enrichment & another swing…. they have been figuring out how to jump and stretch and use the perches to come up with the best ways how to reach the kale!
