Meet Lizzy, this spirited 3.5-year-old fawn-colored Lab mix has a heart as warm as the sun. She weighs about 37 lbs and has been at our shelter for over 2 years. Lizzy is a friendly and affectionate canine companion who has won the heart of every volunteer she meets.
Lizzy's playful and smart nature shines through everyday, making her an engaging and loyal companion. Lizzy has overcome a lot in her lifetime, as she was fending in the streets of Todos Santos for over a year by herself. Now she spends her days playing with all the different dogs at the shelter, and throughout the years she has had many playmates!
Lizzy has worked really hard to be great companion when walking! And every shelter volunteer, child or adult has loved hanging out with her and befriending her instantly.
Lizzy is a social butterfly with her fellow canines, getting along with dogs of all sizes, male or female. She exudes confidence and happiness in every interaction, and is very outgoing with all hoomans and furry friends. Lizzy is kennel and house trained, as she has spent a few months in foster care in Mexico.
Lizzy loves car rides, making her an excellent companion for road trips and adventures. She is a dog who loves playing, running, jumping, chasing balls, and learning new tricks. Lizzy would thrive in an active home or alongside a fellow energetic canine companion, we do not think she would be great for senior animals or cats because of how much she enjoys playing.

Lizzy’s adoption fee for Oregon, Washington, or California is $250USD.This helps us cover most of her vet and care costs incurred in Mexico, and the transport fee to bring our pups over 1,500 miles to the PNW. All our dogs come spay or neutered, with all theirs shots for the year, and have had multiple blood tests done prior to entering the USA from Mexico.
Frank update!
Frank has been doing amazing 🐾
He is at our shelter managers house finishing his recovery currently. ♥️ He will go home once his family has completed building their fence 🐾
This sweet boy is so friendly and full of life, and now he gets to live it because of your help 🐾
Thank you to our community that has supported him through this journey 🙏
Frank Update:
Sorry we are a little late on this - we have had a big week at the shelter and not much time for posting!🐕
Frank is doing much better than the first day he was taken to the vet's office, Ani-Malitos, after being ran over by a car🫶 He is awaiting surgery now, and should be able to do his first one on Monday. The vets are just waiting for the right supplies to arrive to the office as they needed very specific items to be sucessful in the surgery. Because Frank had SO MANY injuries to both side of his body he needs a lot of support from the vet team and a lot of time to heal at their office. 🙏 Both of his legs have major damage, and though you can't see it in this photo he has HUGE open hole in one of his armpit areas. The photos we got were very graphic so we will not be sharing them here.😭
We have a total for the care of Frank and that will be about 13,000 pesos (around 640usd). Our amazing community has done an amazing job at supporting Frank and his family and we have raised 9,445pesos so far! 🥰
Our team is SO IMPRESSED with how our community has come together to help Frank and his family, as they would have not been able to afford his care on their own.🫶
The family is now working on fixing their fence, and any extra funds we get will go towards helping them complete this task before Frank's return. 🐶
We are hoping we can raise the remaing 3,555pesos needed for Frank's care by Thursday the 28th. Frank will remain at Ani-maltios until he mostly healed and ready to return home for bed rest. 🥰
We will keep updating on Frank's situtaion as we learn more. We are so blessed to have so many caring supporters.🐶

Happy Sunday from our paws in La Paz! Sorry we've been MIA this week. Many pupdates coming this week. And some new adoptable pups too🐾
monthly rescues
This month in Baja we have rescued:
1. Rocky, a pitbull that was tied up to a fence post for days. Luckily, our mamager made space in her home for him ❤️
2. A doodle named Poppy, he's a young boy who had a tough life living outdoors and eating garbage. His teeth at 10 months old were TERRIBLE. Luckily, we were able to help.💪
3. Akria is a husky who is 8 years old and was at risk of being discarded in the street. Our team stepped in before that happened. House dogs can not make it in the streets. They lose all their street skills after living indoors. 🏜
4. Marley, a small puppy, found with his brother Merlin. They were abandoned and on the brink of death when they were found in the streets alone with no parents in sight or owners. 🐕
5. Merlin, the brother of Marley. These two endured so much in their first 3 months alive. We can not wait for them to have a happy ending. 🐾
Our kennels are full now. But the requests for help haven't stopped. If anyone can foster in Baja, Oregon, or Washington we can make space for more dogs in dire need. Without the community we cannot save lives. ❤️

Foster to Save Lives
Fostering isn't normally fence hopping. Prince just got a little excited at hearing his foster mom's whistles. 😅
Fostering does allow our team to save more lives. It's the only way we are able to accept new pups is when space opens at the shelter. 🐾
So please consider saving a life by allowing us to have more open space at our shelter. Currently, we have 38 dogs, puppies, huskies, doodles, Labradors, and more.

Guapo's Story of Survival-
In early May of this year we got a phone call about a pup that was abandoned at a desolate beach near Todos Santos, Mexico.🏜
He appeared to be beaten, and his eye was in terrible condition. 😭 Our hearts broke knowing someone had abused this sweet soul and then left him for a long and painful death alone in the Mexican heat. 🐕
Our team jumped into action, with the help of the finder, and got him to town for the night. Then we quickly moved him to our vet Clínica Ortiz Camino Real for evaluation and intake as his wounds were very urgent and painful. 🩺
Upon intake, we saw he had many human made injuries, and some indicating he may have been used as a bait dog. However, our major concern was his eye, which was in poor condition and unfortunately not savable. 😭 Luckily, Dr. Alan jumped into action, and after a week of gaining his strength for surgery, Guapo had an eye removal surgery.🐶
After recouping doggie boarding at the vet for a few days he went to our amazing foster Maria Jose Revilla to begin the stages of healing 💪 Maria has helped him heal not just physically but mentally as well. His foster family has done an amazing job of helping Guapo learn to trust again, and be a confident, cuddly pup. 🥰
Guapo has learned so much and has healed so much both physically and mentally🐾
We have learned he is cat friendly, kennel trained, and loves playing with all the pups he meets. And even though he was brutally abused and left for dead he is still so trusting and loving of everyone he meets ❤️
Now, it is our job to help Guapo get the perfect ending for his story - a family to call his own forever. 👨👩👧👦
We can all help Guapo find a family by sharing his story. He is around 3 years old, 45lbs, house trained, very sweet, and super playful. ❤️
We can have Guapo to the Pacific Northwest for his perfect family by September 10th. ❤️ He is currently located in La Paz, Mexico. We could also
CHATO PUPDATE ❤️
Chato a SBP alumni is thriving in his new home. He has a fursibling. And gets to go to work with his mom almost everyday. We love this sweet boy and after 3 years in the shelter he deserved the best family 🐾 our hearts are so full seeing this wonderful boy thriving.
Chato was originally rescued from being chained up at a farm in Todos Santos, Mexico. He then spent 3 years at our shelter waiting for his forever family 🐾
These are just some of the pups we rescued this summer. And their time spent in the PNW 🐾
Our paws are busy rescuing dogs from all over!🌎
Literally - Oklahoma, Texas, California, Oregon, Washington, and of course Baja, where we have our shelter and home base! 🐾❤️🐾
A lot of people wonder "why" we rescue from all over. When I started this program it was Baja focused, but through the years we have discovered we can help more dogs everywhere, including our Baja dogs, by expanding our paws throughout Mexico and the USA. The bigger our network, the bigger our reach, the more help we will receive in return. 🙏 This is why 2024 was the largest year of nationwide expanding, so we can receive more help in the USA, which ultimately leads to our shelter Baja pups getting more homes and notice too! 🔥

It takes a village to save the world! Let's make our village huge ❤️
Help us raise this months shelter cost by donating just a dollar! Without YOUR support our paws cannot help more in need🙏
Our paws have had an amazing 4th summer in Baja Mexico. 🥳However, we took on some large medical cases from Cerritos, Todos Santos, and La Paz and are now WAY behind and can't afford to help anymore pups currently because we owe so much at the vet.😔😭
To help us be able to pay down our vet bills we are asking for some help covering food and shelter expenses this month. It would be a blessing for any help, and help us continue to rescue even more pups 🙏🐾
Our shelter where we house anywhere from 30 - 40 dogs at a time costs about $3,000usd every month. This includes dog food for 30 days, flea/tick medication for all dogs, and our live-in shelter manager who works 24/7/365. Every dollar helps! ❤️🙏
we are a 501(c)3 in the USA.
