Let’s end this Saturday with an adorable alum picture!! Cutie, adopted by the Unger family in 2020, has a precious beautiful baby sister who is just three weeks old. I think Cutie is training baby sister to position herself just right for belly rubs! I am sure these two and the other Proverbs alum adopted by the Ungers will have years of fun together.

Barney is an itty-bitty buddy who's braver than he looks. Absolutely bonkers, this black furred beauty is bound for endless adventures and bickering with his brothers.

This sweet little man is full of energy. While he may be the tiniest of the bunch he is definitely the bravest. He will be sure to greet you everytime you walk in the door. He loves to play with other cats/kittens- and is usually the first to pick a “fight“. Despite his tiny size this little man is extremely food motivated and will do just about anything for a tasty treat (including try to eat the plastic). When he’s all tuckered out from playing, this boy loves to cuddle up with you for some recharge time. Barney makes the perfect companion for someone who is looking for tons of snuggles and play time!

Exceptional adopters who stay in touch through the years all the way to the last day of their cherished pet’s life are priceless to us. Tonight, I share the precious story of Princess Cinnamon as written by her exceptional adopter, Aaron Crisler. Thank you for giving her eight wonderful years.

“ From a Chicken Coop to Downtown Nashville Living: Remembering Cinnamon. Today at 1:10 PM, my precious Cinnamon crossed the rainbow bridge.

When I first brought Cinnamon home in 2016, she wouldn’t eat for three days. I was worried and called Proverbs from whom I adopted her- to ask about her past. They told me she had been rescued from a backyard chicken coop. It made sense then—she was used to having her food thrown on the ground.

So, I put her food on the floor, just like she was used to, and she gobbled it up. From that day on, Cinnamon always at her food on a napkin on the ground.

She always greeted anyone with a big smile and did a ‘happy dance,’ tapping her front feet back and forth when she would get her pills (meds) in a pill pocket.

About a week ago, I noticed that she was having a hard time breathing. I took her to the vet where they diagnosed her with congestive heart failure. She was put on medicine and for several days, she was her old self again.

Just a few days ago, I noticed a decline in her again. Today, I took her to the vet and the vet said she had definitely taken a turn. The vet said even if they were able to get Cinnamon better, her quality of life would be bad. So I made the incredibly hard decision to let her pass.

Cinnamon was not an overly affectionate dog because of her past but she loved to be rubbed on her neck and belly. Today, she came over to me while I was at my desk and just looked up at me - it was very out of character for her, she’s maybe done this 3-5 times since I’ve had her in 2016. It was almost like she was saying ‘it’s time for me to go, dad!’

Cinnamon you brought so much joy into my life. I am going to miss you so much but I know where you are. Go tell Buddy hello for me and I will see you again.

Your memory will always be with me, and I am grateful for every day we had together. Rest peacefully, Princess Cinnamon.”

Tonight, we celebrate the life Aaron have Cinnamon, the chicken coup dog.

Meet Ava Dale

This is the beautiful Ava Dale! She showed up very pregnant at a lady's house about to give birth when we took her in. She got to her foster home and hours later started going into labor. She ended up with 11 beautiful babies. She was the best momma! She is amazing with everything. She is great with all dogs of all sizes, cats, and kids. She is kennel trained and house trained with a good routine. She has the most precious soul. You can't help but not love this girl. Anyone that gets this girl is going to be so lucky

This little guy was born into a loving foster home, so he’s already accustomed to being around people and other dogs. Playful and full of energy, he gives the best puppy kisses and has a spunky, curious nature. With his adventurous and loving spirit, he’s sure to make a wonderful addition to any family!

Ashlyn is a vibrant little girl in full puppy mode! She loves everyone and shows her love with lots of kisses and tail wags. She’s a fan of all toys, and really enjoys playing with other dogs of any size! Her schedule consists of eat, play, sleep, repeat! She’s a big fan of food and enjoys napping by your feet, in your lap, or on a dog bed after she has played. She’s learning about potty training, and she’s getting good at sleeping through the night. Have shared with you several updates about Penny, the 17 year old “ forever foster” in our care. Her foster mom is so faithful to take Penny to the nursing home to visit her owner. This was too good not to share! Listen to him belt out a tune as he joyfully holds Penny.

Rescue has so many facets.. This particular situation has blessed us, Penny, and her owner who was crushed when he thought he’d have to surrender her and not see her again.

Meet Duke! Duke is a 4-year-old male beagle with a heart full of love and a gentle soul. The dogs in his foster home have warmly accepted him, but he’s still figuring out how to play with them. He currently working on potty training, and Duke is getting used to walking on a leash. He’s a little hesitant about walking on grass and isn’t a fan of getting his feet wet, but we’re helping him adjust. Duke just needs a bit of time, patience, and good nutrition to bring out his full personality. We’ve already seen glimpses of his playful side, like when he runs in the yard, and it’s a joy to watch! Duke is looking for a loving home where he can continue to grow and feel safe. Two death row dogs got their freedom ride today( thank you John Michael Morris.)Jan and her babies were at the Memphis shelter and one by one the babies were placed. The minute the last one went out, mama Jan was added to the euthanasia list. Fredrick, a sweet neglected, heart worm positive guy found himself facing euthanasia and had little hope until his face captured my heart and a leap of faith was taken. Tonight, both Fredrick and Jan are safe. Lots of vetting will have to be done before they are available for adoption, but they are on a new journey. Sadly, countless others won’t be so blessed, but tonight we celebrate these two victories.
