SaskPets

SaskPets SaskPets is Saskatchewan's Pet Community! Online Pet Directory, Local Products and more!

SaskPets was created to build a community to connect pet owners with local businesses, products, services, rescues, activities and events that are all about our special family members, our pets! We love to see people supporting other local businesses as much as possible which is why SaskPets has listings of only-local businesses within Saskatoon and a 30km radius. We want to help make it easy for

pet owners to search and find what they are looking for locally as much as possible. Whether you are looking for a handmade dog collar, a new groomer or vet or want to find out which stores and patios are pet friendly. This directory doesn't just focus on dogs and cats but also birds, reptiles, small animals and fish, because they are also beloved members of the family.

Local Business Feature: Special Treats 4 Special Feets

Special Treats 4 Special Feets is a small business located in Osler that makes and creates healthy, natural treats and biscuits for dogs.

Special Treats 4 Special Treats was formed when the owner Brittany was making food and treats for her dogs with food allergies and sensitivities. She realized there were probably lots of other pet owners out there dealing with similar issues and decided to start making her own allergy free, healthy dog treats.

They offer a variety of biscuit flavors in small and large sizes to suit any pup. The main flavors are Bison, Salmon and Peanut Butter & Pumpkin. They also create special flavors and shapes around different holidays and offer an Advent calendar for your dog at Christmas time.

Treats can be ordered through their website or page. You can also catch them at various markets throughout the year!

Fun Fact: Brittany and her husband Jeremy have a soft spot for those harder to place dogs (seniors, behavioral issues, health issues, etc) and have adopted multiple of these types of dogs over the years.

Local Rescue Feature: SOS Prairie Rescue

SOS Prairie Rescue is a Registered Charity based in Saskatoon and was established in 2019. Though they are based in Saskatoon they work throughout the province to help cats and spread education. They also have a foster/placement in a Cat Cafe in B.C.

They are in desperate need of Foster homes to help the many cats in need throughout the province. They take care of all food, supplies and medical needs. They accept Fosters throughout Saskatchewan as long as you are within 1 hour of one of their partner Veterinary Clinics.

Can't foster? SOS is always in need of:
> Monetary Donation for ongoing Vet Bills
> Adult & Kitten Wet and Dry Foods
> Litter
> KMR (kitten milk replacement)
> Kennels

Local Business Feature: The Dawg House Kennels

The Dawg House is a Pet Care Facility located just East of Regina in Emerald Park that provides Daycare, Boarding, Grooming, Training and a Retail area.

Daycare is available during the day so your dog can play while you’re at work, running errands or just to get out with some doggy friends. The Dogs rotate between playtime in the main social areas, and rest time in a kennel. They are separated daily into playgroups of 10-12 dogs, based on size, temperament, & energy level.

Overnight Boarding is offered when you need somewhere for your dog to go when you can’t take them with you. They stay in a kennel overnight, but during the day they have playtime in small groups with other dogs of similar temperament. The average kennel size is 4’ x 6’, they do have some larger 5’ x 8’ kennels for big dogs, or when siblings come to stay as well as some smaller 3’ x 6’ kennels for the little pups.

Grooming at The Dawg Spa is available weekdays, evenings, & weekends. They have 3 groomers on their team that provide a variety of servcies including: Basic Groom (bath, blow dry, brush, ears, nails), Doodle grooms, Hair cuts, De-shedding, Tick removal, Paw & nail trimming and more!

The Dawg House currently offers 3 levels of training: Puppy Etiquette, Back to Basics and Beyond the Basics as well as Trick Classes, Leash Walking & Recall classes, a Daycare Training Program, and Private Training Lessons. Their Retail store provides a variety of local and well known branded products of food, treats, toys and even accessories for pet owners and lovers.

Fun Fact: The owner Marty owned and operated his own business constructing stairs and was looking for a way to use the other half of the building they were using. Him and his office Manager Katie came up with the idea of a boarding kennel as they both loved animals, this was where the idea for The Dawg House Kennels started!

Prairies Sphynx Rescue is a volunteer-run Organization based in Saskatoon and was established in 2010. They are a breed specific rescue and take in/work with cats across Canada.

They work with Cats – specifically Sphynx, Devon and Cornish Rex. They will also accept Lykoi as it is a related breed.

To help out Prairies Sphynx Rescue:

> Temporary Fosters/Pet Sitters - Prairies Sphynx Rescue is a smaller rescue and do not require many fosters, but have on several occasions used temporary fosters in Saskatoon and also in other parts of Canada, while a new to them cat was awaiting transportation to Saskatoon.
> Fundraising Events - They are always open to fundraising assistance as that is something they struggle with. If you would like to get involved or have any ideas please contact them.
> Donate - Monetary donations to them or their partner Vet (City Park Vet Clinic in Saskatoon), Evolution Raw Cat Food & Catit Cat Litter

Tis the Season of Giving and though it can be a stressful time of year, and expensive, think about the local pet rescues in your community and consider giving the organizations that help so many animals a gift this year!

Many animal rescues are struggling with never ending Veterinary bills and could use some extra funds to help animals in need this holiday season. You can donate to them directly, support one of their fundraisers or even type in their unique code at a Sarcan Drop&Go to donate your bottle and can money to a great cause! https://saskpets.com/sarcan-dropandgo-sk-pet-rescues/

If you want to donate specific items they need you can contact them to see what they need most or grab something off their Amazon (or other) Wishlist. With the Canada Post strike shipping is tricky right now but you can always look at their Wishlist for ideas and pick something up locally! https://saskpets.com/online-wish-lists-for-sk-pet-rescues/

Donations of your time are also always appreciated. Whether you volunteer for one of the many fundraisers or adoption events happening this month or open your home to an animal in need by fostering.

There are many ways to help out our local rescues this holiday season.
If you have other ideas to help out, please share them below!

Featured Local Business: Triple Threads

Triple Threads is a small handmade business in Warman that makes and creates dog apparel including collars, leashes, bandanas, flowers and bow ties.

Kendall is the owner and maker of the unique and quality dog gear and apparel. She started her small business because she wanted something different than what she could find at the pet store. She handmakes each item using a variety of fabric designs to match each dog, or cat’s style. There are also options to help your pet show off their holiday spirit whether it’s Christmas, Halloween, Valentine’s Day or any other holiday.

The bow ties, flowers and bandanas all slip-on to your pet’s collar. This allows for safer wear and makes it easy to put on and take off. Collars are made with quick release buckles and available in multiple sizes to fit the smallest dog (or cat) or the biggest. Leashes are about 5 feet long, get one on its own or pick out a matching collar and leash set.

You can find Triple Threads products at a variety of markets throughout the year as well as by contacting Kendall directly through Email or Facebook.

Fun Fact: Triple Threads does custom orders. You can provide the fabric you want, and Kendall can create the dog collar or other accessory for you!
