If you find a kitten please read before you touch the kittens. Moms will leave for about six hours each day but do come back. So unless you waited hours and no mom has returned call a rescue and make sure they have room and a foster to take them. neonatal kittens best chance of survival is with their mom. As fosters we do what we can but we are no momma cats.

Please read this it’s extremely important now that kitten season is starting!!

You can see here, cats walk on their toes. When a cat is declawed it’s an amputation to the first joint. Basically, the toes are amputated. This changes the way a cat walks and over time causes arthritis to multiple areas of the cat's body. Declawed cats often avoid the litter box because of pain in the feet and arthritis in the body. Please do not declaw your cat - it can cause serious health problems during their lifetime, and there are many solutions to discourage scratching on furniture.
If this is something that you are considering , perhaps you should get a gold fish instead.

Although the colder months are approaching, please don’t let that stop you from TNRing. They’re still procreating, and those that aren’t certainly will be soon.

With going paperless and scheduling over the phone, the transport is filling a little faster than normal. This is a good thing because we just filled our last cat/kitten rescue opening yesterday, it's been a crazy busy year and I am seeing all the panic posting by area Humane Societies exceeding their capacities!
Be a part of the solution, not the problem!!
We are currently scheduling the Nov 13th/14th low cost cat spay/neuter transport to Wisconsin Community Veterinary Center (formerly known as the Spay Me! Clinic) in Madison.

The easiest way to get your favorite feline accustomed to nail trimmings is to start when kitty is young. If that option isn't available to you, then it’ll take patience, perseverance, and practice to get your cat used to the idea.

So how do you cut your cat’s nails with minimal stress for the both of you? Here are some instructions to help.

First, inspect your cat’s claws under a bright light. Gently squeeze the top and bottom of one toe to extend the nail. You’ll see the pink tissue (sometimes referred to as "the quick") in the middle of the nail. You must cut below that or you will cause pain and bleeding. In the below image, you can see the area that is safe to cut—below the yellow line.
