Well, that's another litter in the books. 🩵

Sunny and her babies went back to the shelter today, and are ready for their forever homes.

Most of the time, saying goodbye is easy. That's the goal. I want every cat that comes through my house to end up in a warm home with a loving family, and to never have to worry about life on the streets or getting pregnant.

Today was a hard one, though. Every now and then, you just bond a little harder with one of them, and saying goodbye comes with some sadness.

It will be okay though. Saying goodbye means I can say hello to the next group of kitties, whenever it's time. So, goodbye Sunny, Bee, Honey, Poe, Bear, Panda, and Grizz. Grow up big and strong, and be happy. On to the next!

(The attached photo is of one of my cats, Sasha. She is both our Bed Troll and my Sleep Paralysis Demon. I moved some blankets and this is what I found underneath. 😅)

Adopt Sunny! 🌞

This sweet lil mama doesn't ever want to be a mama again (one could argue that she didn't even want to be one this time 😅)

Sunny is truly a wonderful cat. She is gentle, sweet, affectionate, and occasionally, super silly and playful. I think she was a very young mom, and now she's ready to just be Sunny. 🩵

Sunny follows me around like a puppy most of the time. Wherever I go, she's close by, and she loves to lay down next to me and just chill. I think she's going to be somebody's bestie someday, hopefully very soon!

This sweet girl will be available for adoption on Wednesday or Thursday, after she's spayed. She will come with all vaccinations and a microchip, and will be adoptable for only $50. Let's get this girl home for the holidays.

They are all so friendly, sweet, playful, silly, and cuddly. They purr the moment you touch them. They run and play until they wear themselves out, then they come running to my lap to cuddle, get pets, and fall asleep. Every single one is them is wonderful.

☀️ Sunny REALLY doesn't enjoy this 'mom' thing.

About every other day, she decides she's not going to nurse the kittens anymore. Usually with a lot of coaxing and reassuring, I can convince her to try again. But we're nearing a point where it won't be beneficial for any of them to keep them together - she whacks them pretty good when they're annoying her.

Three of the kittens are superstars with the wet AND dry food, and are making huge gains. Two of them are doing a good job and gaining a fair amount, just slower. One of them is gaining, but just barely. I just need Sunny to be a team player for a few more days. 🤞🏻

Everybody please send Sunny good momma thoughts so she can stick it out for a few more days. Then once all six are knocking it out with the wet food, I will separate her and she'll never have to be a mom again. 💙 You got this, Sunny!

"Is that tiny bed big enough for all six of them?" you might ask yourself.

The answer? No, no it is not. 😂 But bless their hearts, they still try!

See also: Honey eating big-kid food! All six took to wet food almost immediately which is a blessing, as anyone who has ever tried to wean a large litter knows. A couple of them are even eating the dry kibble!

These cuties are getting funnier everyday, and I love watching them grow. 💙

There's not much sweeter 💙

The babies are doing well! Everybody is gaining weight and making moves. They are walking (shakily), discovering play (viciously), and snoozing (mostly).

I introduced a small litter box two days ago, and today there is baby poo in it! Great job, babies!

Oh man, this little mama 🥹

She's tiny and so thin, and I wouldn't be surprised if she's still a baby herself. She's cautious and concerned about the noises she hears on the other side of the door.

But she's also so, so sweet. It's unusual to have a mama that seeks out genuine and prolonged affection - usually when they do, they're trying to divert my attention away from their kittens. But this one loves to be held. When I pick her up, she just purrs and instantly relaxes.

It's hard to describe how it feels to be trusted by another creature like this. We've known each other three days, I don't know what her past was like, and her main focus is protecting her babies, and yet when I walk into the room, she brushes against my legs and waits patiently for some scratches and to be picked up. It's the warmest feeling, to be trusted like that, and it's one of the many reasons why I love fostering.

If you are looking for a new feline friend, please consider adopting this precious soul when she's available (probably sometime in November). She is going to be a wonderful friend and lovebug, and you would be lucky to know her. 💙

🚨 We've got new recruits! 🚨

A mama and her six kittens joined the Kitty Committee today. Mama looks like she's still a kitten herself. 🥺
The babies are somewhere between the two-three week mark, with fully open eyes, open ears, and itty bitty teefers starting to poke through. They are already very vocal as well 😅

Mom is unsure but she's starting to settle in. Can't wait to learn more about these cuties! 🩵

Pippi and Flower went back to the shelter this morning 💙

Don't let the grumpy faces fool you, these girls are so happy 💙

Since three of their siblings went back to the shelter on Wednesday, I've spent the night with Pippi and Flower for the last two nights to make sure they aren't lonely.

These little angels just purr CONSTANTLY. No joke, their purrs woke me up a couple of times 😂

This picture was taken after they got comfy on a fluffy blanket. Shortly after, they remembered I was in the room and came to lay next to me.

They're both doing really well, so hopefully they'll be ready for adoption soon!

As for Pippi and Flower, they are finishing up a round of antibiotics and working on getting big and healthy. They are doing alright but we've still got a little work to do, so they will be with me for a little while longer. 💙

Our teeny girl and her little gray sister are just not feeling good 🥺 The little black darling has lost 30g since Friday night. The shelter vet will be in tomorrow and I've got my fingers crossed that we'll be able to get some meds that will help this sweet baby's tummy feel better so she can keep some calories in that tiny body. What a ferocious beast! I have truly never had as hard a time choosing a name for a kitten as I've had with this one. For whatever reason, nothing I've come up with has felt 100% right! So for now, we're calling her Sasha because it feels about 80% right, and that's a higher percentage than any of the other names I've tried. I wish I could explain how my brain works you guys 😅 Anyway, she's doing really well! She's had some diarrhea (which is extra not fun because she's long-haired... I'll let you imagine that one), but she just finished a round of meds that I think is really helping her. Past that, all she wants to do is have zoomies and snuggle with my face. Hey everyone! We have had a rough few days here at the Kitty Committee. The kittens are doing just fine; other than a yucky bout of diarrhea that we're trying to clear up, they're happy and healthy. One of our resident cats, Renoir, gave us a health scare this weekend and is thankfully doing okay now. After getting blocked by a kidney stone and seeing that he has several other kidney stones still in his kidneys, he had to have an emergency perineal urethrostomy and cystotomy: basically, they opened his bladder to remove the stones and amputated his pen*s so he can hopefully pass stones easier in the future. He encountered a lot of complications along the way and we genuinely thought we were going to lose him on Saturday. Thankfully he had a great doctor working with him and he was able to come home today to continue his two week recovery. We are just so so SO happy and relieved that he is doing okay and we've still got time left with him. John adopted Renoir as a 6 month old kitten before he met me, and he's a really special guy to both of us. He is an integral part of the Committee. 💙 I took this video of him a couple of hours after we got home. Please excuse his mess; he is super high on pain meds and really uncoordinated with the cone, so he's already made a huge mess. 😂
