My Life With Dogs
I may be a bit of a dog nut, or so my friends & family say. I don’t mind at all that they say this. What I love about dogs is their ability to be kind to others. They don’t judge, they don’t care what you look like or if you have money or not. My Lab Sunny & I go into George Pearson Centre once a week to visit with people with brain injuries. It can seem a sad place to many but Sunny gives her love to all & is always happy to seen the patients. Its a big part of our life.
Sunny is my 3rd yellow Labrador Retriever. My first was HRH King Maxx, who was a legend in my neighbourhood, famous for stuffing tennis balls in his mouth & for eating a whole pot of chili (after he had opened up the fridge).
My next dog was Hope, an American Field Lab, duck hunting dog from Washington who had never lived inside. She was so sweet & lovely but fairly high strung. We did a lot of training to help her adjust to the city. She died tragically after only 14 months.
Now I have the Sunny. She is from Washington state as well & is such great dog. She is easy going & very relaxed. She is a Canine Good Neighbour & a St. John’s Ambulance Therapy Dog. She is always with me & is welcome just about anywhere we go.
