Great news!
Massachusetts Gov Maura Healey has signed a cat declaw ban into law. It is the fourth state to ban declaw, joining New York, Maryland, and Virginia.
Declawing a cat is an invasive surgical operation that is the equivalent to amputating the last knuckle of a human finger. Declawed cats are at significantly greater risk of lifelong medical issues, including nerve damage, chronic back pain, and lameness. Additional complications can be excessive grooming, poor litter box habits due to pain, anxiety and aggression.

Thank you Massachusetts! Hopefully more states, including Pennsylvania will be next.

Rescue is hard. Sometimes words don't say enough and we turn to music to calm us and find inspiration.

Gus has come back to PAWS again.
This cat is AMAZING! He has done nothing wrong. He was returned by no fault of his own. He was a cat doing normal cat stuff.
No hate on this post. We are grateful Gus is back safe and sound. While our spirit has been dented, we're more dertermined than ever to find Gus the home he deserves, forever!

Here's good info on Avian Influenza from The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center.

⚠️ H5N1, a type A influenza virus, is spreading among birds and some mammals in the U.S., including cats.

Here’s how you can help protect your pets:

· Avoid feeding raw meat or dairy.
· Keep cats indoors to limit exposure to wildlife.
· While the risk to dogs is less clear, it’s best to keep all pets away from dead animals, livestock, wildlife, and their waste.
· If your pet shows signs of illness, such as lethargy, fever, or respiratory issues, contact your veterinarian.

This is a developing situation, but taking simple precautions can help keep your pet safe. Check out AMC's graphic for more details and share it to raise awareness.

Mechanicsburg Council wants to implement fines for residents who feed and shelter community cats.
This is not effective and will put vulnerable cats lives in jeopardy. The population would increase. The cats won't "just go away."

Help educate Council, let your voice be heard. TNR is the only effective means at managing the community cat population and mitigating concerns within the community.
