Biggest issue I've been battling this year is antler grease. While I've been able to correct the problem on each skull I still don't know why some get it and some don't. Have some ideas so hopefully figure it out this coming year.

This goes out to all the boiling haters

I've almost got all my skulls for the year in degreasing and more are finishing every day. This is a stud of a buck and is absolutely flawless when it comes to any type of damage from power washer. I have a 100% record with zero damage to the internal nasal bones this year which im pretty proud of. Stay away and let the degreasing process melt that stuff away...

Found them for a good price so picked up a few boxes. I'm good for awhile.

Just got a few heads in that have been laying around longer than I was originally told. Pretty tough stomach but man those ones almost did it to me lol. Called him back and said these are basically dead heads so I'd like a little more. No problem

How do you all handle these types of situations?

Doing antler touch up is almost a guarantee on every skull I do regardless of what method is used to clean the skull. Here are some pictures of a buck I just did. IMO water based antler paint is the only way to go. I've been using it a few years and it'd by far the quickest and most realistic. Let me know what you think.

First pic is after degrease
2nd is once they are painted
3rd is once the paint dried (use a blow dryer to speed it up)
4th is when I clean all the highspots off on antlers
5th and 6th are after sealed.( light plays tricks because they are blended really nicely)

Finished up a couple skulls. Just because you simmer and pressure wash doesn't mean your skulls are trash as some might have you think. Take the extra time to degrease

If you've never tried this after whitening you should. Hottest tap water and your skull fresh out of peroxide. I even heat my water up a little more than hottest tap. I figured this out when experimenting a few years ago.

I saw a post on a different skull page that was very intriguing. Instead of simmering and power washing he used a bucket heater and a thermostat set to 120 degrees. After 4 days 95% of the meat was gone and it didn't stink because he still used the normal chemicals we all use. I already have the heaters and thermostats so ill be giving this a shot on the last batch I do this year.

Anyone else ever do anything like this to remove the meat?

Once I degrease them I'll soak in 40vol peroxide for a day or so then place in a bucket of scolding hot water. This activates the peroxide and will release some grease if anything is leftover. When it's bubbling I'll give it a few shakes and dunk a few times to flush anything that might be left out.

Nose pieces are at the bottom of bucket

Read this morning about how se guys have 1.5 year turnaround times on deer skulls lol. Id like to know the process so I know what not to do. That's ridiculous and no way you are making any money holding for that long. Whats longest you'll hold a deer

What's your thoughts on ctg booting Bubba wheels? I think they spend a little too much time searching other pages 24/7 and stroking each other's egos if you ask me lol.
