We are always on the look out for suitable wombat release sites. These need to be in specific areas and postcodes. We are after acreage, with native understory, trees and grasses. We require vacant burrows, in a not too heavily populated wombat area. If you think you may have a suitable property, or know someone who has, please get in contact with us. We put a lot of effort and time into our wombats rehabilitation, so therefore are very particular in finding suitable release sites and are required to release them in the location they were found. Please do not be upset if we do not think your place is quite right. We are currently looking for release locations for Wally and Hana in...

Our wombat wall of fame is excitingly ever increasing!!These signs go on their last stage enclosures, then onto our wall when they are finally released. And it's sign time again 🙂. If anyone is interested in making a sign for us, we are after two. They need to be fairly weather proof and I can supply rough measurements. Wood, steel, mosaic, anything goes. We are after one for ' Hana & Wally'
And the other for ' Wilma, Patty & Lil Beaker'
Please message or comment if you are interested 😁😁

After a blusterous few days this little fella has come into care. It is always a hard call bringing these little ones known as fledglings into care. They are at a life stage when they are leaving the nest, learning to fly, and still being watched and cared for by their parents. But occasionally they do end up in trouble or injured, and do need a bit of help. This one was found roadside, without visible parents, with a suspect injury. Early days for little Herse, but we are feeding well and becoming acquainted 🐦‍⬛🌿

There's not 'mushroom' here at the moment with all the last stage wombat enclosures still full 😂😂
Even with recent releases we still have 14 wombats, a sugar glider, 3 gang gangs, and a brush tail possum in care; totalling 20 bottle feeds a day! That's more than enough to tend to, and especially in this wet windy weather. Keep dry and watch the mushrooms grow 💦

Huge thank you to the Hands on crew at Leongatha primary school for their amazing efforts in purchasing, assembling and donating these ringtail possum dreys. These are used to house our ringtail possums when in care, and also their temporary home when released. Very very much appreciated 🩷

Another busy weekend has been and gone, and we have three more new critters in care. Roh the tiny orphaned ringtail, Jeff the young crimson rosella who is yet to avoid windows, and Lenny a little wombat from another carer to join our young crew of Mia, Matey and Tosh. Sadly we had another little mangey wombat come in who didn't make it overnight, but we gave him a go and a safe spot to rest 💔

This is our new little girl Mittens. She arrived Tuesday night, suffering from Mange and malnutrition. Found roadside on her own, we believe her mother has more than likely died from Mange. Big fingers, toes and nose crossed for this little being.
To report a mange affected wombat please contact Mange Management - Treating Mange in Wombats . You can help with their guidance, or any donations their way is well worth the cause. This is a horrible disease affecting so many of our beautiful wombats 💔💔💔

Hello there sweetie. This poor soul came into care late last night. This one, known as grassy, had been spotted with attack wounds, and after much consideration and effort was brought into care. The decision to bring an adult wombat into care is not one that is taken lightly, and the practicalities of rescuing one is not easy either. The dedication of some rescuers is nothing short of amazing. Medication, ample feed, and a safe place to recover is what we can offer this one, the rest is up to Grassy. Fingers crossed my friend 🐾❤️‍🩹

What a busy weekend, three new arrivals within two days. Two of these are only short term guests though. Carers often will pass critters on between other carers for multiple reasons. Capacity is a big one, pairing up with others of the same species, personal commitments, specialising in particular animals, amongst other reasons. This is important for the animals wellbeing, and our sanity. This highlights the need for wildlife carers to have open communication, and good relationships, remembering that we are all in this for the best outcome of our beautiful wildlife.
Milly the wombat was with us until her carer was available, along with Mory the Wallaby who will be with us for the week. Also in care this weekend is a lovely sugar glider, W***y Wonga who will be staying with us for rehab, and who we believe will be needing surgery this week. Welcome all ❤️

What a hive of activity it's been here for the last week 🐝. We were lucky enough to have the guys from Tricky Tree works here removing dangerous branches from our scary cypress trees What a great, respectful and caring crew they are, we can not recommend them enough! They even installed some nest boxes for the wildlife while they were up there 🦜🐭
This was a government incentive through Emergency Recovery Victoria to help with the clean up post February storms. Well worth the wait and many thanks to all involved 🌿🥰

And then there was 17 wombats....
This little girl was found next to her deceased mum's body last night. They were hit by a car, and fortunately someone driving past noticed her. She is about 2kg at a guess, and if not picked up would not have survived on her own. She looks uninjured, lucky that mum has that big cartilage plate that helps protect them. Big reminder to stop and pouch check please!!!! Welcome into care little Tosh ###

Nerena the ringtail, and Doc the resident cockatoo both enjoying munching on some bottlebrush flowers. Doc came from RSPCA as an unwanted or escaped pet and has been with us for over six years. He is very chatty, occasionally breaks into song, but is also VERY bitey and keeps us all continuously entertained.

Our shelter

We are a small self funded, native animal shelter. Our sole purpose is helping, rehabilitating and releasing our magnificent and unique wildlife back to its natural environment. We began caring for wildlife in October 2018 and have since become our own busy little shelter.
