Timber and I had an eventful weekend. We did a 1k walk for ! Well, it was close to a jog the way she hauls 😅 I managed to keep my medical issues in check long enough to finish the event and visit with the vendors with her. Not only is participating in events for charities a great way to give back but Timber gets to make new friends.

I don’t normally try to nap in bed with my spunky pup but my gastroparesis is flaring up pretty bad. I’m glad I was able to be out and about BEFORE this hit me. She needs a nap while I try to manage my medical issues. Chronic illness with so many complex issues means one minute I can be fine and the next I’m barely functioning. I take todays field trip as a win though!

A friendly hack I frequently use. Instead of regular ice cube trays, I use a mini bundt pan. They last longer and are perfect for a 50 pound power chewer.

I found another photo from the pet parade in Elmhurst. Timber only had part of her costume on as she was trying to shred her hair roller wig 🤣 Being a pet parent in my eyes means lots of activities and being out in communities all over the place. This rescue pup is living her best life and yes I’m obsessed. There’s nothing I won’t do for her.

She desperately needed a nap and I needed to lay flat to get my heart rate and BP stabilized. Managing POTS/V-EDS amongst a slew of other medical conditions when we both enjoy an active lifestyle has repercussions. So happy we made it out today and it was totally worth it and now we rest. Very thankful my body allowed me to be out with number 1 today. Living with chronic degenerative illnesses doesn’t mean I’m going down without a fight to still enjoy what life offers.

Our final stop of the day was Bentleys Pet Stuff in Elmhurst! We had fun looking for a paw print and getting a new kong to stuff her goodies in.

My tired and sore baby. A local vet office injured her Wednesday from being overly rough and now she’s limping so we are working on some rehab and Timbers mama starts PT again next week because her medical conditions have taken another nosedive. We are both fighting for things together now. I just hope I can grow old with her. I have a neurodegenerative disease and it scares the heck out of me. She keeps me going even when I can’t. If you see us out and about and I’m acting off please know I may look normal and healthy but in reality I am very sick do my best to hide it. ❤️

PSA…when a dog owner says it’s NOT okay that your dog is jumping on them and please to STOP encouraging your already excited pup that it’s OKAY because she’s sooo cute, you NEED to respect that and stop ignoring the owners who are desperately trying to break a bad habit. We are training and trying to learn when out…don’t encourage poor behaviors! For me personally, I have a connective tissue disorder so when you are encouraging cute dogs to jump on you and give them attention reinforcing poor behavior you are doing a disservice to the pup and the owner. Timber got her name for a reason, she knocks me and everything else over. I dislocate my bones easily, it HURTS. It’s so hard to get people to listen and the dog at the same time. Obviously I need to start telling people she cannot be approached until we nip this in the butt and she learns to properly greet people, in the meantime food for thought, don’t encourage someone else’s dog to jump on you please and always ASK permission, don’t approach when the owner is checking out at the register or grabbing something off a shelf with their back turned for all of 2 seconds, it’s not fair to anyone.
