UPDATE 1/15/25: Grace was returned to IACS on 1/12/25. She did very well at her previous home and warmed up to the children in the home after a few weeks. They returned her due to one of the kids in the home being allergic.
Grace arrived at our shelter on November 22, 2024, after being surrendered by her owner. Due to personal struggles, including homelessness and domestic violence, her owner made the difficult decision to surrender her. Grace had been with her owner since she was a puppy, and while this was a tough choice, it was made to ensure Grace would get the care she needed.
Grace is mostly blind, but that doesn’t slow her down. She’s a calm and easygoing dog who enjoys attention, food, and spending time with people. She’s housebroken, crate-trained, and gets along well with other dogs, though she’s not particularly interested in playing with them. She’s also good with children, although she prefers not to be overly handled. Grace knows basic commands like sit, stay, and lay down and is quick to learn new ones.
Currently, Grace is being treated for a few health issues, including vision loss, skin irritation, and mild respiratory symptoms. She’s adjusting to these changes, but she still has plenty of love and companionship to offer. If you're interested in adopting or fostering Grace, please reach. Grace would do best in a home where she can relax and enjoy her golden years. Your support can help give Grace the future she deserves.

Indianapolis Animal Care Services, an open-intake municipal shelter in Indianapolis, Indiana, is seeking rescue placement for dogs in need of alternative pathways to leave the shelter.
All animals on this page are at risk of euthanasia at any time. Animals with an urgent deadline are most at risk. Animals with urgent deadlines often face medical or behavioral challenges. While we strive to honor posted deadlines, if their condition deteriorates to the point where it is no longer safe or humane to continue housing them, euthanasia may be the most compassionate option. Additionally, IACS operates consistently above maximum capacity, and the urgent need for space may require earlier action. Please know that our goal is always to provide these animals with a chance.
