We NEED your HELP, please!!!!!!
These are the 13 hounds that we have completely vetted and ready to find their forever homes(we have several others on stray hold!) They are all incredibly amazing and all do a little better each day from the shut down, scared babies they were. It is so very heartwarming to see them run and play with each other AND learn how to play with toys🥰 We have aggressively forced our love on each and every one of them and continue to do so daily, they are all very accepting of it❤️❤️❤️❤️

We are also very willing to foster these babies out locally, if you would like to help with socialization!

If you can’t adopt, please share! Share everywhere! If you have any reputable rescues looking for some awesome hounds, message us!! Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

If you are interested in fostering or adopting, please go to the county website and fill out the preadoption application and email to the director.

Clovis in KY

Clovis has been at shelter since the beginning of December!! He was a stray that was also extremely emaciated. He stole our hearts the very second, he walked through our door. He’s. He is very playful and sweet, he will lay himself in your lap and act like there’s not an issue with him being as big as he is. He will let you hold him on your hip and does great with the other dogs, no cats (Big Red is his bff). Overall, he is just the sweetest boy and I love him oh so much!!

RESCUE FRIENDS….
We have been overwhelmed at the interest in some of our dogs. We are getting a lot of private messages on our FB page and emails from different rescues asking about them and showing interest in pulling them. Please know we appreciate all the shares and contacts.

Having said that we need to do something different when it comes to contacting us about any of our dogs. There are so many emails/messages that they have gotten confusing. What is causing the confusion is when you CC other people and they all respond and then each thread comes to us. We can not keep up with which person is with what rescue and who wants which dog.
To eliminate that we are going to ask that if you are interested in a dog, send an e-mail to [email protected] with the dogs name, the name and location of your rescue, and of course your name and relationship to the rescue--even if you have already sent emails or messages. Please do not CC or BC other people into the thread.

We have had rescues contact us from across the US and while we are thrilled and thankful, due to out of state travel restrictions and requirements we will generally opt to work with the more local rescues. We know a lot of time goes into making arrangements to pull a dog and finding fosters and transport options. While we sincerely appreciate every rescue that has messaged, please understand that we can not hold our dogs for extended periods of time (sometimes even a week is hard depending on space) while you organize transport or foster nor do we have the funds to get dogs fully tested, treated, spayed/neutered and vaccinated. We can take the dogs to our local vet and have things done but each rescue will be financially responsible for the cost regardless of the outcome of the vet visit. In other words, IF you ask for the dog to be tested/vaccinated and end up not being able to take the dog because of a diagnosis, the bill is still your responsibility. Please understand that we would love to be able to provide all vetting but we can not. (We do pass along any discounts that we receive at the vet)

Again, PLEASE know we appreciate each of you and look forward to working with you. Be sure to e-mail your info to [email protected] and the email will be forwarded to the head ACO.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

GOING TO RESCUE.

THIS IS GATOR!!!

Gator is a super chunky boy that was loved by his family. Sadly Gator was owner surrendered to us when his family became unable to care for him any more. You see, his mom and dad are older folks and they can’t take care of him so they asked us to find him a home where he can continue to be loved. Gator is neutered and is said to be housebroken. As you can see he could afford to drop a couple pounds so a few less treats and maybe some good walks will help this old man out. If an exercise partner is what you need then maybe Gator is the one for you!

Gator
Beagle mix
Neutered male
13 years old
Quite “fluffy” (and not the furry kind—but no body shaming here!)
30+ lbs
Adoption fee $75
Not HW tested, - on request if serious interest (paid for by interested party)

RAINBOW BRIDGE.

ASTRO!

Astro is such a handsome sweet boy! He was picked up with Syfer and Spex. He is a quiet guy who enjoys short runs in the yard with friends but doesn’t NEED other dog attention. He is tolerant of other dogs but other than running a little he is satisfied just sniffing his way around. Astro was a little on the thin side when he came in but has steadily gained weight. If a quiet gentleman is what you are looking for, come by and check out this guy!

Astro
Hound
Male
About 4 years old
Good with other dogs
Not overly interested in toys
Could use some leash training
50 lbs but could use a couple more

PULLED BY A RESCUE

Introducing SPEX in VA!

SPEX is a female hound mix (Heinz 57) with adorable specks all over. We think she is about 1 year old. She came in with her sister and a friend. (Posted above) She is good with other dogs and is very social.

Spex does need some leash work and other basic training. She thinks a leash is something bad and will fight to get it off. We are trying to show her that a leash is not a weapon of mass destruction. She will learn with patience. She enjoys treats but generally tries to save them until another day by hiding them behind something or under something . If you are looking for a “speckled pup” stop by and check her out!

SPEX
houndy mix
female
1 year old
Good with other dogs
A little on the energetic side
Needs basic training

❗️ FOSTER/FOREVER HOME NEEDED ❗️

Hi, my name is Copper! 🐾

I am a 3-year-old, 91-pound Redbone Coonhound. I was brought into an overcrowded shelter as a stray.

Sadly, the shelter was small, space began to run out and my life was at risk. Happy Paws got the email that my life was at risk and tagged me as safe.

Due to no fault of my own, my foster can no longer care for me, and I’m searching for a new foster home, or even better… a forever home!

I seem to do well with other dogs with proper introduction (though would prefer more submissive dogs), and I do not mind cats.

My foster says that my favorite thing to steal are blankets or really anything soft to keep in my mouth, so soft toys are a must!

I am fixed and up to date on all of my vaccines. Someone with breed experience with Redbone coonhounds is a PLUS.

If you are interested in meeting me, please submit an application today!

Located in the Metro Detroit, MI area.

What a difference a week makes! Penny is up 10 pounds and weighs 37 pounds now! Her energy and appetite has picked up!

Her HCT is still dangerously low at 17. However there is some good news with her labs, her immature red blood cell count to is way up. Hopefully that means her body is starting to catch up and learning how to function out of starvation mode.

Go Penny go! You’ve got the whole pulling for you now!!
