It is not my favourite part of preparing puppies for their new homes, but we have to do it!
I always transfer the details of the chip over to their new owners prior to the puppies leaving, making sure they are correctly registered before they leave.

Fabulous weekend of puppy viewings last weekend and more planned for this weekend.
I love meeting the families planned for your puppies and seeing the joy when they meet their chosen puppy.
I always get asked if I find it difficult to let them and go, and I have to say, yes, I do, but when I know I have matched them correctly and taken the time to ensure the right puppy fits the right family, I know that they are going to have a successful and bright future ahead of them, so it makes it easier!
Last summer we homed some of our Labrador puppies to the Guide Dogs and I have been getting regular updates on their progress. All four of the first puppies that we sent to Puppy Walkers have successfully made it to the final stages of training and we are SO proud of the difference they will make to their handlers when they are allocated.

These dudes have had a variety of textures and novel stimulus this week. Lino, concrete, carpet, grass and gravel. We change the pen daily, in terms of layout and items, so everyday with us is a school day.
While we are working with them, we watch them. How do they respond? Are they bold? Are they brave? It’s all critical information that we use to understand each puppy as an individual, so we can taylor what we do to suit them, but also use the information to help place them in the most suitable home.

Sound desensitisation is a crucial part of raising puppies to be balanced and robust.
I use this fab bit of kit, which plays a whole host of sounds, from weather, to vehicles, babies crying to lullabies… it’s fab!

That's why it's super important to begin desensitisation early!
All of my puppies receive as much time as they need with me, to get used to the vibration of the electric toothbrush on their bodies so that the clippers aren't as daunting!
