Bulldog Breeding isn’t a business that makes money. It is a passion. If you aren’t willing to do the research, spend the money to get access to a good stud or to have one yourself. This isn’t the business for you. A two year minimum investment is required just to get into it. So you buy the bitch, you raise her, feed her do all the work or training her which is substantial. I have a 6 month old female who prefers using the toilet in the house…
This isn’t for the faint of heart. Bulldogs are notoriously stubborn animals. They don’t live particularly long, Crusader lived 10 years. I had him a couple of those years. Great dog, great memories I will cherish forever.
A decent stud is 1000 at the low end. 5000 or more to get access to a good dog. If you are in this business thinking it’s get rich quick, stay away… I may never get out of this what I have put in, and that’s ok with me. I have had fun doing it. Meka is a lot of laughs. Her daughter smiles as she does everything and is a joy even though she’s not house trained yet.
Bulldoging isn’t about the money, it’s about the smiles they give you and the smiles you put on the smiles of others through your dogs. It’s about memories! It’s about integrity. I have made a lot of mistakes doing this thing. I’ve lost money and time I won’t get back, but I have also had joy.
No, I am not the best breeder or man out there doing bulldogs. But I am passionate about the breed and I hope my dogs have made you happy.
