This year's been buck heavy for the goats . I've been watching the lamanchas grow out and I have 2 that I'm thinking I'll let go as bucklings . They've got the milk lines to back them up and their confirmation is looking good 😊 the rest will be going as wethers and anyone that doesn't sell will be going in the freezer . Yummm. Looking forward to goat curry this fall !

Introducing Our Expansion Into Nigerian Dwarfs !! Here are the breeding's for 2024

First up is Mossy Rock FF Phoenix 2*M VG85

We purchased this beautiful doe from Golden Dream Acres. She was bred to their junior buck - Lost Coulee CCE Eager Outlaw and we are "eagerly" awaiting what I expect to be some beautiful kids.

I haven't confirmed pregnancy but her Est. Due Date is March 25th!

I just set 36 chicken eggs - easter Eggers , blue laced red Wyandotte, and chocolate americauna ❤️ just waiting for our bourbon red turkeys to start laying and then I can run a test batch for poults 🥰🥰

This year we will have registered Nigerian Dwarfs and registered Lamanchas available. I'm not sure how many mini Lamancha I'll be retaining so I may have some kids available. I'm breeding for high milk production, great personalities and hand milk-ability for the perfect homesteading goats

Crying on the inside because otherwise I'll have frozen tears. Gotta go break the ice off the animals heated waterers since they can't keep up in this extreme cold . Thank god it looks like only a couple more days of this . Then we're up to a balmy -16 lol

Seriously! It's warmed up to -36C. Bundling up to go settle the animals for the evening and make sure everyone has lots of straw and hay.

I can't wait to see what colors we get from our Rex rabbits this year 😍

Rex colors can be tricky and folks are always wanting to learn, so here are the buck pelts from yesterday’s harvest.
1) Blue
2) Blue Tort
3) Harlequin, Brindle🤞🏻
4) Chocolate
5) Lilac
6) Broken Black

The chocolate had the best fur, as you can see it’s all uniform and the double coat hairs are all the same length, giving the classic Rex velvet texture.

All our furs are saved for tanning projects or dehydrated for dog treats.

Today is the first day in 2 weeks I've been able to take a deep breath and not die in a fit of coughing. I ended up catching this wicked cold virus that then turned into pneumonia so hopefully this means I'm finally on the mend! With half of the goat herd being bred I can't wait to share my plans for this years breeding season and the new things that are happening for spring 2024!
