Your cats promordial pouch;
The primordial pouch is a loose flap of skin which runs along the length of the cat’s belly, but is most pronounced towards the rear. It can often be seen swaying from side to side when the cat walks or trots.
Pet owners often attribute the primordial pouch to weight gain, but it is common on cats of all shapes and sizes, even slim ones.
The primordial pouch acts as a protection to the internal organs during a fight or attack. If you have ever seen cats in a fight, you may have noticed that they often kick each other with their hind legs and their sharp claws, which could potentially damage these vital organs.

We’ve sadly noticed some organizations posting photos of rabbits in harnesses on leads lately. As cute as it is, it’s not in the rabbit’s best interest and as their guardians, we should always be striving to do what’s in their best interest.

Not only is taking rabbits for walks unnecessary, it’s quite dangerous and in some cases, deadly. We have seen horrific spinal injuries caused by a bunny moving too quickly in a harness. One vet explained to us that their skeletons are “bird-like” and only make up about 8% of their body mass, opposed to almost double that for cats.

Additionally, rabbits don’t naturally leave their home territory because it’s highly stressful for them. One study showed elevated cortisol levels(stress hormone) for FOUR MONTHS in rabbits who relocated. For this reason, you won’t see us carting rabbits around to events 😉 The best way to experience rabbits is in their home environment where they feel safe and will act like themselves.

Being prey animals, it’s best to minimize all unnecessary stress and only take them out for necessary travel like vet or grooming appointments and boarding or bonding.
