Steadiness dog training, Gundog training, sit means sit, obedience trqining
Stiora came out today on a drive with her mum and dad. Took it all in her stride really well.
Little Stiora’s training is coming on well, I try to make every day a learning day, even just for five mins. Here I am testing that her sit or stop whistle means sit and do not move until told! She did well watching the birds and guns!
Today Stiora took part in ThePetGundog demo at the Gamefair. For a young dog she handled the pressure well, hunter nicely on unscented ground, and produced her sharps stops.
Stiora has hit that age we all dread. The age when the wheels fall off the cart. So we have spent the last month taking it steady and reinforcing the and training the behaviours she has learnt previously. When it gets difficult we just have to be persistent. Here she is doing what she loves best.
Stiora loving the launcher today
Stiora learning she needs to jump a fence not claw through it 😃

Stiora stopping to shot 👌🏼such a fun dog to train.
Stiora learning her stops and introduction of directional change with two dummies. Still a lot of improvements but she is sharp!
Stiora learning her stops more now. Starting to introduce multiple retrieves and a bit of direction now. A lot to improve but she is super sharp 😊
Stiora v Brambles
Stiora is very much like her father and mother, not afraid of smashing some brambles. 😍
Stioras training coming together slowly 👌
Here we are checking Stiora understands verbal sit / my body cue for sit /whistle sit. I train them in that order and master each type of command before moving on!
A few days ago I found a dead rabbit in the training field. I set this up as a short blind retrieve for Stiora.
I think her reaction when she brought it back meant she was a tad excited 😆
Got to love this dog. Just like her dad. A bramble basher 👌🏼
Today Stiora had a couple of short lessons on bird and shot steadiness. “Eyes on stalks” pleased with her progress so far. Always hard to judge if too much to young and blowing a young brain.
Thankfully I’m confident I have her able to recall of distraction and a good response to a verbal corrections and nice heel on and off lead, with out these I wouldn’t have taken her out as I would be allowing bad behaviours to increase.
Stiora coming on nicely with her off lead heel work. ✅
Flash back 2.5 years Stiora’s mum Nailing a stop whistle and a blind out into water. If Stiora is half the dog her mum and dad are we will be super proud of her 😍
