A few of the things I love most about Munsters is the amazing people they’ve brought into my life and the quality time I get to spend with friends and family training them. My six year old nephew Carter and my dad have helped me training Poppy as I nurse a broken foot. I love this poor quality video because of Carter’s sweet comments. He’s so certain of Poppy’s abilities and such an encourager. I can’t wait for the day I’m helping him train his own puppy. Poppy has entered into her puppy fear period. These fear periods are totally normal and part of puppy development. Today she saw her reflection in our stove and strongly reacted. I’m not a professional trainer (and I highly recommend working with one you trust) but I wanted to share with you what I did to help Poppy through this. - I allowed Poppy to move away from what scared her. I didn’t want to force her closer to show her the stove wasn’t scary. -I rewarded her for focusing on me instead of the stove. -Once she was calm and focused on me, I did a short training session on sit/down with LOTS of high value treats in front of the stove. Has your pup entered the fear period? I’d recommend keeping a list of things your pup is nervous about and try to incorporate those things into your trainings.
