Intense lesson this week included some focused mindfulness, self-awareness, and self-management of our thoughts and bodies.
Seemed like simple stuff when we discussed the plan. Not so simple as we applied the plan---there were lots of things going on, lots of thoughts and body parts to manage simultaneously. It can be stressful, or it can be rewarding to make progress and see the difference when we enjoy doing the work.
One of the biggest rewards is when our horses respond with endorphin overload---simply because they know that their partner is really truly focused on them and the partnership.
Elsa is at 'that' age where she's asking lots of unexpected and 'thinky' questions. One today was especially insightful. She asked if "horse just know which diagonal to be on."
That opened the door to deep-dive into what 'diagonal' means, and why it's important to the horse.
Opportunities are everywhere.
Questions are our best tool for learning.
