As we progress with our mass sterilisation campaign we have to go deeper. Further into our townships and peak into every backyard, under every scrap pile, behind every fence.

The worst cases typically do not walk into view- they are hidden away behind closed doors, locked cages or crammed in the tiniest spaces.

The worst case we have seen was a dog named Kola. He had his ear sliced off by a panga. As the wound became infected he was locked in a closet because the smell of rotting flesh was unbearable. His owners hoped he would die quickly, unfortunately he didn’t. He suffered in that closet for several days before we found him.

Unfortunately it was too late to save Kola, he was humanely euthanised and his suffering ended.

We want to make sure stories as Kola’s do not repeat. We advertise our availability to the community and offer all services free of charge. Luckily people now know they can come to us for help!

Bella is one of the first dogs sterilised by our team in Paternoster. We maintain a great relationship with her owners and they call us for help when she needs us.

Bella was stabbed in December of last year and luckily was able to see her right away. She was in terrible pain but allowed us to scoop her up and take her to our makeshift operating theatre. Dr Luke stitched her up, placed a drain and we kept her in our kennels overnight to monitor her recovery. The wound has healed beautifully and Bella, her owners and our entire team are thrilled to have her back home.

A person can learn a lot from a dog, even a loopy one like ours. Marley taught me about living each day with unbridled exuberance and joy, about seizing the moment and following your heart. He taught me to appreciate the simple things-a walk in the woods, a fresh snowfall, a nap in a shaft of winter sunlight. And as he grew old and achy, he taught me about optimism in the face of adversity. Mostly, he taught me about friendship and selflessness and, above all else, unwavering loyalty.

Wishing for a better year for this sweet girl, with her owner refusing to sterilise our options to help her are limited.

She is so emaciated that her body isn’t going into heat, feeding her will unfortunately only support her owner engage in backyard breeding.

Thanks to the spca and law enforcement we will continue to pressure her owner to meet welfare requirements. We hope that he will eventually agree to sterilise his dogs and accept our help.

Educating our community is so important, we want the next generation to make smart choices for their pets.

Collins & Tyson

Thanks to your donations this holiday season little Tyson was neutered and sent home with a clean bill of health, Nexgard Spectra, food and water bowl, kibble supply for a month and a kennel.

This 6 month old pitty boy is set up for a happy healthy life. We will continue to monitor his progress.

Kleinkie and his best friend Bliksem (behind) enjoying a snooze. These two patiently waited for their turn to see the vet and get neutered. Well done to their owner Adri for making sure all 7 of her beloved pooches are neutered and spayed.

Kleinkie and Bliksem were both abandoned and luckily taken in by Adri, they sleep in the house and follow her around all day. We support Adri and her pack with dog food and dip to make sure everyone keeps in good shape.

Everybody loves Max 🐶

A volunteer favourite and chubbiest boy in town. Max was a very sickly puppy, with the support of our team he pulled through.

Max gets a few too many treats because he’s just the goodest boy but that’s okay and we hope to drop by for visits with him and his lovely family for many years to come.

MIA is looking for her forever home 🤍

2 year old German Shepherd female. Mia is sterilised and vaccinated. She has been dewormed and treated for ticks and fleas. Mia is a high energy sweetheart.

A very intelligent, social and energetic dog that would love nothing more than be taken off her short chain and run around with the family of her dreams.

Spring has sprung and we are thrilled to see fewer unwanted pups born every year. Our team knock door to door to continue our mass sterilization campaign and we are finding fewer pooches who have yet to go through our clinic for a snip.
