Growing mint in the Garden!

Container gardening is a must for mint! It will grow and spread like crazy, and will certainly overtake your garden. Mint has a lot of different uses: brewed tea, as a flavor addition to still or sparking water, ice cream and who doesn’t love a delicious Mojito in the heat of summer! This perennial is tough and easy to grow but as mentioned it will spread like crazy so be careful!

I just grew regular spearmint this year, but there are a few different varieties including chocolate and apple! How good would a chocolate mint be in with homemade vanilla ice cream!

I am drying my mint in the dehydrator to save it for later! I just cut the stems off, pulled the leaves and rinsed and let them dry before putting them in the dehydrator! I will just wait the 2-5 hours and see how it turns out!

This is literally the easiest vegetable to grow in a garden besides a w**d, and honestly who doesn't love green beans!

If you are anything like me it is almost July 4th, and you are just beginning to plant your green bean plants...Just me? Ummm...so yes I am the late bloomer as some one call it, but hey at least they went into the ground. Can you believe in 5 days that a small bean can turn into a small plant. I lov...

Strawberry beds!! Who does not love fresh strawberries and all the fun watching them grow?

On a serious note, how did I not realize how fast these plants spread 😳😳😳. We moved into our farmhouse last September and really didn’t pay much attention to anything outside including the small strawberry bed the farmer had built . Spring came along and as we pranced through our local farm and home store I noticed these pathetic looking strawberry plants. I loaded up 8 of them and brought them home to place with the others in hopes I might get a couple of good plants for snacking & freezing! It seems that over night my strawberry🍓🍓🍓 plant count has tripled!

HELP!!! This is where I am stuck- Do you let the runners grow and continue to spread or at some point do you start to trim them?

I know Google is your friend but there are a ton of different opinions. Look at these pictures and let me know how to fix my bug issues. Is this a certain bug? I would prefer to avoid pesticides but am open to anything.

Follow our page to see how they turn out this year!

Welcome to our journey! We are a fun couple looking to turn a new leaf in life! We sold our home in the city and relocated to small town America to raise our kiddos and grow our minds! We have awesome kids, tons of birds, dogs, and a lot of fun to go along with it! We are excited to take everyone along with us as we learn to grow our own food and be more self sufficient. We hope you can learn a few things and hopefully some of our followers can teach us a few things! We will be doing some raised bed gardening, raising chickens, ducks, geese, guineas and turkeys and whatever we find along the way! Follow us to see how this journey will go as we post yummy recipes, fun experiences and new things we learn along the way!
