Pigeon stretch is a great hip opener with a lot of other benefits, often we get confused with few alignment points of the pose. Here, I’m sharing few things to keep in mind while practising this stretch.
I have included a modification using blanket, you can use a block or a folded towel whichever is comfortable and according to the gap between hips and the floor.
BENEFITS:
➡️ opens hip flexors, improves hips flexibility
➡️ helps neutralise the pelvis
➡️ range of motion of hip and knee joint increases
➡️ provides relief in sciatica
➡️ stiffness from the back is alleviated
➡️ stretches hips, thighs, psoas.

Tips for yoga beginners

Day 11 of the and today's beginners tip is for .
My beginner tip is to use a yoga block as a support under your buttocks, this will help keeping your back straight while lowering your body towards your feet.
Keep your gaze high and lower your belly towards your legs while lifting from your lower back and keeping your back straight.
The goal here is not to go as low as possible but to go down with a straight back.

This post is for those out there who, like me, have ever wondered about what goes on between a Plank and Upward Dog 🤔🐶 (or about the magic of ending up on the floor a bit more gracefully 😅😁) .

When I first started Yoga, one of the big dilemmas I would always have was how to go from Plank through to Upward Dog 🤔
I would always just do it quickly and somehow end up in Cobra or Upward Dog without much form or actually knowing how I got there 😅
The truth is that I did not know what I was doing, because this part always goes by so fast in class while one is busy going up and down and while the teacher does not really slow down to get into details and correct the posture...
Now that I found out what Is going on I just know that my arms and core were not strong enough to support me lowering down my body in the first place, so as a beginner I have found that learning to do the modifications was the only way I could slowly do this transition.

EVERYONE CAN DO BAKASANA|
Out of the series: "everyone can do yoga" here is another example using one of the public's favorite poses 😋☺️ .
Most beginners, or even more advanced yogis, consider this pose as the first milestone into the world of "more complicated yoga poses" and get a huge satisfaction when they have finally managed to lift off the floor 😉
So what is the trick to it? How can one get to it... faster 😅 The trick is to practice it also when you can't do the full pose yet!
By practicing the modified pose the body gets into the right alignment for practicing the full pose and one day, unexpectedly it just makes click💡
So what are the steps:
1️⃣ Come to your knees and place your palms widely open on the floor
2️⃣ Lift up to on your toes and bring your knees right under your armpits- the higher they are the easier the pose will be.
3️⃣ Shift the weight into your arms and come to the edge of your toes.
4️⃣ Alternatively lift one foot of the floor and hold it up for a couple of seconds.
5️⃣ If you find lifting even one foot of the floor difficult, just try to balance on the tips of your toes, shifting almost all the weight into the arms and tightening the core muscles.
6️⃣ Gradually try lifting both feet off the floor, even if just for a few seconds and then come back to balancing on your toes keeping the weight in the arms and the feet barely touching the floor.

Working for long hours at desk with hardly any movement of arms and spine leads lots of complications. Among which shoulder stiffness is a major concern.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stiffness in shoulders limits us from doing many activities in our daily life and also we will be prone to injuries in neck, shoulders and arms.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here I’m showing how to work on shoulder flexibility by using a strap. You can replace strap with cloth or stick.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
All 4 variations will help to reduce the stiffness in shoulders and increases the flexibility in upper spine. And this can be done before your practice to increase the range of motion of shoulder joints.
