Memphis is Missing

They say a lot can happen in a year, how about half a decade?

*5 years* this weekend since our boy Memphis went missing.

We still expect him to come running through the village or tap at the door and tell us all about the adventures he's had, then curl up on the back of the sofa and rest his head on our shoulders.

Alas, seems not to be. His adventures continue, wherever that may be and I'm sure it will be chasing rabbits, trying to catch birds with his ears flapping in the wind.

Getting towards that festive time of the year where we think about Memphis the most.

He loved a Christmas dinner - turkey, gravy the works.

4.5 years missing.

Hopefully his story has helped a few folk buy a tracker. If you’ve not got one yet , loads of Black Friday sales on - priceless for peace of mind.

Look after your pups this Xmas and spoil them 🙏🏻🐶❤️

That's 4 years now since our beautiful Memphis went missing on a regular family walk.

We still look for him every day.

Hopefully he's running around somewhere being spoiled by someone in this universe or the next...

That's 3 years now since we last saw Memphis. No potential sightings or leads in a year.

We still look for him one way or the other - even if someone could hand a collar in or something - but nothing for a good while now.
If he did make it, we just hope he is being well loved and warming someones sofa.

Keep your dogs safe, get a tracker and let them on the sofa and spoil them every day.

❤ 2.5yrs + ❤

Time flys by - over 2.5yrs since we saw our beloved Memphis.

Although our hopes fade, Memphis' light will never dim - an amazing soul to anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. We just hope that if he did make it somewhere, then whoever has him is taking good care of him.

We know he will not still be on the run, but we still go looking anyway... whether its a drive or walk in the countryside, or a run (have logged hundreds and hundreds of "Dog Search" runs on Strava - just to give me a mission. Hopefully I can post the 'found him' entry on there one day). The process of searching may seem strange to some after such a long time - but it helps us anyway - we are loyal to him like he was to us.

We've also seen quite a few missing dog scenarios recently - some with happy endings, some still waiting as we are. Once again, if anything comes of Memphis going missing - we would be so happy if just one person bought a tracker for their dog.... remember, it doesn't matter if your dog is old or slow or loyal or timid etc.. they can vanash in a second. Just get the tracker and give yourself a chance..

Hi all,

Been very quiet for a while now on the Memphis front, no sightings or links or possibilities coming through. That doesn't mean to say we are not still looking or attentive to any info that comes in. Every day we are out walking, running, biking, driving with side quest to keep an eye out for him, we will check up on any links we are sent etc.

In the absence of any new info or leads... we'd like to take the opportunity to remind everyone out there with a dog of their own to get a tracker.

You might think it would never happen to you, but it's exactly what we said. Doesn't matter how old/young/fast/slow/breed.. the can go missing - we're in all the lost dogs groups and it can be overwhelming the number that go missing every day in the UK.

We would just like to say a thank you to everyone who messaged us and helped us today, although we've been disappointed many times in the past and are now used to it... we did secretly get our hopes up that the Cocker Spaniel today could have been Memphis.

Obviously we are delighted and relived that this dog has been reunited with its owners, we know how the terror feels immediately after loosing your dog. Thank you to the gent(s) who found and secured the dog so quickly - well done lads. *PLEASE* also get that tracker fitted to your dog... don't have regrets like us.... if you can afford a dog, you can afford the tracker.

I have to say, some of the photos today were close to Memphis, I will post in the comments below to give you an idea what we have to consider to keep our hopes in check.

Amazing to see so many people reacting and communicating so quickly when there is a possibility it could be Memphis. We hope this will again help us to share Memphis' pictures and page far and wide - so one day we can know where he is.

Well folks, today sees 2 years gone by since we went for a simple family walk in our village with Memphis and never saw him again.

We never believed for a second we would still be setting up cameras, leaving food out, searching fields and forests until dark, driving the backroads, cycling, running cross country 2 years on... but here we are. None the wiser about what happened to our special boy Memphis.

Nothing came of the recent 'sighting', our night cameras picking up the usual local widlife - I think we've done a good job of feeding the local wildlife in and around Newtonhill, Cammachmore and Chapleton - a few badgers, birds, deer, mice, cats, rabbits, foxes have all gotten a little fatter over the last 2 years and I can confindently say Crows are greedy little so and so's..... but no Memphis shaped dogs unfortunatley.

If there is one thing we would like you to take away from reading this and following our plight... it is simply to put a GPS tracker on your dog. For £5 a month you can drastically reduce the risk of this ever happening to your family... for the price of a pint there is no excuse!!

We'd discussed it before when Memphis was younger.. but always thought it would never happen to us, his recall was so good, my dog would never run away from me, my dog is too slow etc. etc. wrong. It took one small hole in a fence and he was gone. PLEASE look into getting one, even if you trial it for a month or so - there are loads of options these days and battery life is good.. they can go a good 6/7 days between charges and that would be plenty to quickly locate your dog. (search PAWFIT, TRACTIVE, PITPAT etc. Airtags are no use. Get GPS.)

Everyone is used to seeing these posts now and we thank everyone for their continued support as always. If you wouldn't mind just looking through the photos of Memphis on this page again to remind yourself of his features and keep a look out for anyone who has maybe taken in a stray either close to home or further away. You never know. (*Please note, there a couple of dogs in Newtonhill from the same parents as Memphis, so apologies to those guys as they get stopped a lot asking if it is him! sorry guys - we do love seeing Memphis brothers/sisters out and about though) Thank you for all the shares too.

Memphis, know this - we're not giving up boy and hopefully see you soon. The chicken dinners are stacking up now.

👀 potential sighting 👀

Hi folks,

Potential sighting - golden coloured dog with longer fur spotted running along edge of fields just beside chapelton (south) - heading in the direction of St Ternans church.

See attached photo for map. This is basically 2 mins from Memphis house.

Trying to rule out a couple of regular escapees in the area - but there is always a chance.. has to be someone’s dog.

If you are in this area, please keep an eye out and capture anything you can with your camera.

❌❌ Still Missing - 23 Months ❌❌

Hi folks,

Another winter has been and gone and no sightings, info or any news since the autumn.

We still think about him every day and hope that he still remains in other peoples thoughts. Hoping that one day we get to know where he is or what happened to him.

Difficult not to be downbeat, but we keep going and hope that one day we can see him again.

If somebody out there does have him, innocently or otherwise, we hope he is being looked after well and he will probably be lying in a sunny spot on someones sofa. His own sofa at home is ready for him every day.
