What I thought were regular purple keets ended up being pied purple keets! I don't know how this happened, but I am very excited for these birds to grow up---I've been trying to breed a pied purple for years now 💜

Sadly, death is a part of raising birds. A few days ago, a predator came and killed 4 of our chickens and 6 of our guineas, including Bernardo and Cordelia. Bernardo was the alpha of the flock and such a quirky bird to watch. His mate, Cordelia, was the first coral blue guinea I bred and was very special to me because of that. Our flock is still recovering from these devastating losses but I am very thankful that some of our birds survived ❤️

Guineas can be violent to each other. It is always important to monitor fights and henpecked birds to prevent serious injuries in the flock

Here's a tip to help with far-roaming birds: clip the edge of one wing's feathers. It prevents the birds from escaping or flying away too far. Want to keep the neighbors happy! 😉
