Blackhawk dachshunds catching “grave robbers”
Over the years we have had the honor of doing several breeding collaborations with Teddy Moritz. To the point that much of our dogs DNA is intertwined.
So there are occasions where we’ve asked her to put “Blackhawk” on the registered name of a dog she’s bred. And where she’s asked us to put “Von Moritz” on a dog that we’ve bred.
One of the biggest benefits of this arrangement is that we get frequent updates of how those dogs we send are doing.
If anyone is wondering, even at 70+ years old she embarrasses us with how hard she hunts. It’s not just rabbit season. She starts sending us woodchuck kills and recounting of the days hunts in July. And they come every few days….non stop clear into rabbit season, where they are quickly replaced with daily rabbit hunts.
She sent me this video today of a the stud dog named Blackhawk “Kip” Von Moritz. I asked her if she minded if I share this to our Blackhawk Falconry Dachshunds page.
From the sounds of it Kip is already siring litters at Teddys, and if you get a dog from teddy in the near future, odds are high that young Kip may be on half that pedigree.
It’s a real honor for us at Blackhawk that she entrusted us with some of those first longhairs 25 years ago, and that she considers the dogs we are breeding today, as worthy of her kennels.
It’s a friendship we value highly, as I know it is for many other falconers who have built a friendship and bond with her around these wonderful little wiener dogs.
